Negima!? Mahora Girls' Jr. High Class 2/3-A 25-31 & Ala Alba

HASEGAWA CHISAME  長谷川 千雨
A fictional character from the manga series Negima!: Magister Negi Magi, created by Ken Akamatsu. The 25th student in Japanese alphabetical order of class 2/3-A, she is the grumpy, unsocial computer hacker of the class, intentionally isolating herself due to her dislike of freaks and weirdos. However, Chisame secretly lives a double life as the famous web idol Chiu (ちう), where she can be popular without putting up with the local idiots. Her logical nature eventually figures out the secrets of Mahora Academy and her teacher Negi Springfield, leading to Chisame drawing closer to the magical world.

A famous Net Idol and secret alter-ego , who uses her cosplay and computer skills to further the idol's career on the internet.

Background & Personality
Chisame is a cynical computer geek living a double life. An overly serious pragmatist in public, Chisame is highly unsocial, intentionally secluding herself from interaction. She cynically views her classmates as idiots and freaks. Any attempts of interaction are immediately shrugged off by Chisame, choosing to either keep her nose in a book or around her personal laptop computer she brings to class. Similarly she distances herself from everyone by sitting in the farthest reaches of the class, alongside her seatmate Yue (who herself is known as a Baka Ranger who can't stand studies) or placing herself in the back of a crowd of people while letting the others act in stupid or silly ways.
However, as much as Chisame avoids any and all attention in the real world, her affairs and interaction on the internet are a completely different matter. In the privacy of her own room, the reclusive Chisame transforms into the beautiful Chiu, a famous Net Idol who runs a webpage completely devoted to herself. The page is filled with pictures of Chiu cosplaying in various cute and sexy outfits dependent on her mood and the interest of her audience. Although the pictures are essentially Chisame with her hair down and in different outfits, she doctors them through the editing program "Photoshock" (a parody of Photoshop) to make herself look even more perfect than she could do on her own. Yet as much as Chisame tries to keep her Chiu side away from the knowledge or understanding of the other Mahora students, she finds out to her dismay that her teacher Negi has become a big fan of her alter ego and goes to her webpage every day.
Because of her ability to blend in or avoid interaction, Chisame is able to gain a personal, critical voice in regard to the actions and thoughts of her school, her teacher, and particularly her class. As other students celebrate or get a feel for the various interactions, she makes small comments to herself about the stupidity either of the action or of the students who applaud what is said. Similarly, Chisame nitpicks at the stupidity of the various students she is forced to surround herself with, usually getting away with the commentary outside a couple who are easier peeved than other. (such as Chizuru, whom Chisame nearly gained the wrath of for calling her an old lady in regard to her taste in activities). She particularly dislikes a group of eccentric members of her class for a variety of reasons, including Chachamaru (robot), Mana (too old for junior high school), the Narutaki twins (underage), Kū Fei, Chao, Evangeline, Kaede and Zazie ("foreign" students). Yet her most particular hatred is aimed at Negi, going crazy over the whole concept of having a ten-year old acting as their homeroom teacher. Yet in the midst of calling others crazy, Chisame worries that being a net idol would label her just as crazy as the rest of them.
The only people who know about her double life are Negi, Kotarou, Kazumi, Ayaka, and Makie. Chisame has seen and recognized Negi's inherent gift for attracting girls' affections, and has tried to keep him at arm's length. This proved to be more and more difficult as she was pulled deeper and deeper into Negi's world during the Mahora Festival arc.
Despite her greatest effort in trying to not associate herself with Negi and his magic wielding friends, she is inadvertently pulled deeper and deeper into their world to the point of considering the people she once thought of as weirdos and freaks as her friends. She is much closer to Chachamaru then to most in their group, mostly because the latter often drags her into Negi's group meetings or their silly escapades. Ironically, while Chisame gives her best efforts not to associate with real life and the magical world, it is only Chisame, along with Makie, who withstand Poyo Rainyday's fake Cosmo Entelechia. They manage to resist the fake Cosmo Entecheia because she is a so-called "Rea-Juu", an internet slang for people whose 'Real lives' are 'completly Fulfilling'. By hearing this, Chisame suffers the biggest shock of her life, because she consider herself the extreme opposite of a "Rea-Juu" and was very proud of it.

Character Design
Ken Akamatsu's previous series, Love Hina, centered around the lives of several girls, particularly in the main lead of Naru Narusegawa. Although typically depicted by her beautiful, yet fiery nature, Naru was also a genius in studies. She has an alternate appearance, which included braided hair and a pair of glasses. This is intended to hide her more studious side while attending the cram school and maintain the image of the fiery Naru of the Hinata House.
With the establishment of Negima!, Akamatsu knowingly split up Naru's personality into two separate characters: the fiery, powerful yet concerned lead part went to Asuna Kagurazaka and the more reclusive girl with the split personality went to Chisame. The split in Chisame's own personality is more dynamic compared to Naru because of the contrast between her forms with and without her glasses. The typical Chisame, ponytailed and wearing glasses, is depicted as a smart but extremely cynical girl with a logical view of the world. On the other hand, the alternative free-hair and glasses-free Chiu is a joyous personality, who expresses a sense of exhibitionism via her manipulations creating popularity through her own website. Early renditions of Chisame merely had her as Chiu Hasegawa in both forms, with sketches depicting her "idol" side more like a singing idol compared to a web idol and her student form more restrained with a braided ponytail.
Through the creation of Chisame, Akamatsu not only has taken Naru's own split identity to another level but created the most grounded of the students in the entire class. Unlike many, who mostly follow their feelings no matter what, Chisame chooses to look at the world with reason. While she still shows off feelings and emotions, both controlled and spontaneous, sensibility remains her preference, from the mundane to the fantastic.

Part In The Story
The Child Teacher arc
At the start of the story, Chisame tries to avoid any and all interaction with the class as much as possible. The only time she has any real notice is as the only open critical voice over the selection of the ten-year old Negi Springfield as their new teacher, asking Shizuna-sensei if she is actually serious about the decision. Outside this comment, Chisame mostly kept to herself and intentionally ignored or avoided anything in regard to her class. It is only after the success of Negi's English teachings to become a full-time homeroom teacher for 9th Grade that Chisame finally gets within Negi's notice, showing off her aggravation to the point that her teacher becomes concerned about her contrary behavior. It is the same behavior that makes Negi also discover Chisame's double life as Chiu, making the young mage attempt to help her get over her avoidance of her classmates...but embarrassing her in the process by sneezing off a bunny outfit she was wearing for her website.

Training/Wilhem arc
After that incident, Chisame's commentary both regarding the stupidity of her teacher and of her fellow classmates begin to pick up, with her making comments on the slightest stupidity of her fellow students and for "the ten year old". Yet as Chisame remains the same, the weirdness she witness begins to increase, including an assault by the yokai of Cinema Village in Kyoto and the ambush of the Slime Sisters under the command of Graf Herrman. Ignoring the weirdness, she begins to make logical conclusions that were by no means anything at all supernatural. Yet at the same time she continues to get occasionally coerced into "joining the crowd" or bringing her cynicism under control, particularly due to the bizarre psychology of the nurturing Chizuru.

Mahora Festival arc
Although initially appearing to have no connections in regard to the Mahora Festival, Chisame in actuality is connected to an unscheduled event Negi finds time to join in: a special underground costume contest (also participated by Ayaka and Makie, unknown to the hacker/idol). Though initially with a massive stage fright (though she can perform easily in private in her Chiu persona, performing in public and without her glasses is a different matter), a strangely appealing psychological breakdown is judged as "in character" for her performance and considered moe, making Chisame an unexpected winner.
After the contest, Negi gives Chisame a courtesy ticket to the Mahora Martial Arts Tournament. Though initially hesitant towards going, she decides to check it out regardless. Though initially skeptical, and desperate to rationalize the events of the Martial Arts Tournament, Chisame deduces that Negi is a mage while conversing with him and Chachamaru while watching the Tournament. During a later conversation with Chachamaru, she considers forming a probationary contract with Negi. Though she immediately said that she was just joking, events quickly pull her in that direction. During this time, she is reduced down to a 10-year-old due to the Age-Deceiving Pills. She initially refuses to try one when Negi offered it to her, but Chachamaru pops it into her mouth. Chisame comes to like her new appearance and decides to use pictures of herself as Chiu's Little Sister on her webpage.
Eventually, Chisame and some of the girls are trapped in the future after Chao had succeeds in her plan to reveal magic to the world. Though still reluctant about accepting the concept of magic, she joins the other girls in Negi's rescue and return to the third day of the school festival. As things become desperate with Chao's armies attacking, Chisame (with much reluctance on her part) finally agrees to make a Provisional Contract with Negi. She plans to do so while Negi was still unconscious, but to her embarrassment, he wakes up just as she is about to touch lips with him. She immediately kisses him while covering his eyes. This is enough to create a proper Pactio, rather than a botched card, making her the seventh student to form a contract. Her artifact is an elaborately decorated staff, which used in conjunction with her laptop teleports her (as well as Makie and Ayaka) into cyberspace, where she takes part in an electronic battle against Chachamaru to stop Chao and secure the magical barrier. Although she does reconstruct the barrier, she becomes quite frustrated when Chachamaru informs her of the orders to unconditionally surrender in the event that Negi defeats Chao (which he does just before Chisame breaks through Chachamaru's defenses), and that the spell has been changed to remove sadness and hatred in the world for a day.
After the festival, Chisame has found her artifact to be extremely useful, helping her homepage skyrocket to the top rankings all over the Internet. This newfound fame, however, leaves her feeling strangely empty. She later comes to Evangeline's Resort along with Kazumi, Sayo and Chachamaru to enjoy a barbecue with Negi and the others. Though she is very reluctant to take part in any of the White Wing group's activities, she later decides to accompany Negi to England as she makes a surprise arrival at the airport. She states that things on the Internet has become dull, (most likely due to her Pactio ability to control it with ease), and denies any other reason for joining the group other than having nothing else to do.

Journey to Magic World arc
Chisame and the others make their way to Wales, passing through the home of Nekane Springfield before journeying further. She and the rest of the White Wing club enter the portal to the Magic World. Despite seeing fantastic sights such as flying whales and other sea creatures, Chisame still stubbornly denies being awed by the displays of magic and tries to make sense of it all. However, she is unable to do anything to help Negi after he is attacked by a group lead by Fate Averruncus and is temporarily separated from everyone in the depths of a magical jungle. She was later attacked by a squid-like monster which using his tentacle's slime stripped most of her clothes, although Chachamaru later tells her that the squid-like monster was harmless. She has been rescued by Negi and Chachamaru as the White Wing club begins to regroup following the destruction of the magical gate. However, with Negi and the rest of the White Wing Club being hunted under false charges of destroying the Gateport, Chisame is forced to take a Blue Age Deceiving Pill again and use nekomimi to avoid recognition by bounty hunters. She stays and assists Negi both as he attempts to win some money to free some of his students from slavery as well as to find the whereabouts of the others and decides to accompany Negi again when he begins training with Nagi's ally Jacobus Rakan. During which she acts as the surrogate guardian for Negi as a temporary replacement for Asuna. During this time, she grows much more considerate of Negi and struggles with herself to decide what would be the greater good for Negi.
During the first day of the Ostia Festival, she, Asuna, and Setsuna notice Negi acting strangley as he noticed Fate in a crowd of people. While Asuna and Setsuna serve as backup for Negi, Chisame watched, using her computer, watched the events unfold in an alley as she waited for additional backup to arrive. After Nodoka and Haruna met up with her in the alley, the three girls were then confronted by Shirabe, one of Fate's Ministra Magi. While the original plan was to prevent them from interfering with the discussion between Negi and Fate, Shirabe began to go after them more aggresively after realizing that Nodoka is the mind reader that Fate warned her about. Luckily, Kotarou arrives to rescue the girls and get Haruna and Chisame to safety.
During the ball, Chisame, along with Kazumi and Nodoka, accompanied Negi into a room where Godel projected images of the attack on Negi's home village. After Godel informed Negi that the Megalomesembrian Council was the one behind the attack, the girls watched as Negi, with revenge on his mind, got corrupted by the Magia Erebea and tried to kill Godel. As Nodoka and Kazumi grabbed hold to Negi's arms in order to restrain him from attacking Godel, Chisame slapped Negi (who was already beginning to come to his senses thanks to Nodoka's pleas) and informed him that even if they don't understand the pain that Negi went through during the attack on the village, they felt that the idea of revenge ins't the only thing that he received on that day, with the image of young Negi meeting his father being the proof her words. Later in the conversation, after Negi got upset at Godel over the fact that he wasn't going to try to save everyone in Mundus Magicus, Chisame and her mice familiars were able to hack into the systems of Godel's projection room, thus shutting down the "illusionary space" that Godel was using during his discussion with Negi, as well as shutting down all the security systems in the room, thus allowing Ku Fei and Takamichi to enter and assist Negi.
Afterwards, Chisame, along with Negi and Ku Fei, are trying to make their way to the emergency rendezvous point that they've set up, with the group confronting Fate and witnessing him use the Code of the Lifemaker magic to erase Rakan. During this incident, Chisame is seen in possession of the regular-sized version Diarium Ejus (which got separated from Nodoka as the attack by Fate's group caused her and Kazumi to be separated from Negi's group), with her and Negi reading the book to find the information that Nodoka got from Godel about the final secret concerning Mundus Magicus: that everyone except for pure humans (like Godel and Beatrix) are but an illusion.
Once she is on the ship, Chisame, along with Mana and Nodoka, provide backup for Negi in revealing if Asuna is a fake. Once Ala alba gets to Gravekeeper's palace and encounter Poyo Rainiday who is originaly thought to be Zazie she is uneffected by her artifact because she is happy with her life, which causes great shock to her. And when Negi falls into a half dead state caused by magica erebra consuming his soul she along with everyone else comes up with a plan to deal with Fate and save Asuna. She is trapped by Sextum like the others and is about to die until Negi reawakens and saves her. She also watches as Negi and Fate begin their battle. And realizes that Negi has completely conquered magica erebra and made it his own, and that means he isn't something that can be called "human" anymore. As the battle between negi and fate goes on they enter a dead lock both about to unleash a powerful spell close at point blank range. She became scared for negi wondering if such a thing was alright. It is Chisame, out of all people, that rallies the students together in order to wake up Asuna. Her classmates even comment on how she has changed.

Return to the Old World arc
After the group finally returned home, and Chisame able to go surf the net again, feels that her life is missing something. At school she asked Konoka about Asuna, and told her that she hasn't gone home yet, but she is more worried with Negi, because he doesn't go home very often, and even if he does, he go away again. Then she asked Yue, but told her that she doesn't know anything. Chisame then was relieve that she wasn't being left behind, but because of Yuuna, who was amazed about how much Chisame has changed, was attacked with chalks by Fate, and ordered them to stand in the hallway. Chisame was angered by this, and said to herself that if she saw Negi, she will beat him to a pulp. Luckily, after school, Negi was looking for her and gave her a souvenir from Rakan and left again already. She then throws the book, and told him to wait, and reminded him that Negi said that he wanted Chisame by his side, Then she punches him again. Negi apologizes and told her he remembers it. Chachamaru pleaded for her to stop, and Chisame asked her why she is always by his side and she was the one getting ignored. Which made Chachamaru states that Chisame was like confessing her love. After cooling down, Negi apologizes that he didn't mean to ignore everyone. Ayaka suddenly appears and told Chisame about the Terraforming Project on Mars, so that the Collapse of Mundus Magicus can be held in check, Chisame then said into her mind that maybe she didn't have to hear it, because it was too "sci-fi" Negi then rants about the plan, but apologizes again because he forgot that she was talking to Chisame. She told him it's alright, that she could atleast hear him out. Negi then thanked Chisame and held her hands and she wondered if he's going to kiss him, but Negi suddenly sneezes and transforms into Raiten Taisou II and blown Chisame's clothes of, which made her angry.
Later, when Setsuna Sakurazaki asked her if she has plans about the future, she told her that it's normal for middle-schoolers not to have any plans for the future yet. But she told Setsuna that if Negi calls her up, she could be his Advisor.

Abilities
Pactio: Idolum Virtuale: Her artifact is called Sceptrum Virtuale. It is a heart-topped staff, similar to weapon used by magical girls. The staff allows for several magical properties when used. For starters, it allows for her to attack opponents with a powerful magical attack when used properly. Secondly, when in conjunction with her laptop PC, it allows her and anyone within her vicinity to enter cyberspace, upon which she can internally hack into systems using her computer knowledge to put a stop to any opponent. However, their physical bodies remain in the real word in a kind of trance-like state. Most likely, it is their astral forms which enters cyberspace. Additionally, Chisame is supported by seven virtual 'electronic spirits,' which are seen as talking, long-tailed mice. They wanted Chisame to give them names, but she didn't want to be bothered with such a task and left their names up to Makie. Their names (which are all food puns) are as follows: Kincha, Hanpe, Konnya, Chikuwafu, Negi, Daiko, and Shirataki. They aid Chisame in her battle with Chachamaru in cyberspace by downloading data, and watching out for any kind of viral attacks. The mice can also manipulate data from other computers, which allowed Chisame's webpage to become the number one Net Idol page on the Internet. They also have the ability of appearing in the real world, but only as long as an electronic device such as a computer or cell phone is active nearby and has enough power. If not, then the mice go into hibernation mode to save energy. She has also been shown to be able to hack into other people's artifacts and use them as her own, although this may be limited to the more electronic or scientific artifacts, like Chachamaru's. It is possible her Pactio has other powers that have yet to be revealed as Chisame at one point asks Negi about some of the functions of her card. By the time they returned to the real world her abilities exceeded to a point where she hacked another pactio ability.

Software & Computer Knowledge: Chisame has created her own net idol webpage and currently stars herself as Net Idol Chiu. She is well versed in using image-enhancing programs such as Photoshock and digital cameras to make herself look more enticing.

Hacking Abilities: She is able to hack into large databases using nothing more than a laptop computer, and is able to put up firewalls and other protection programs to a certain extent (though she needs to use her Pactio artifact against more formidable opponents such as Chachamaru). She can cross-reference articles and other sources of information, which she later uses to deduce Negi's identity as a mage and the existence of magic.

Net Idol Chiu Quick Change: Most commonly shown in the Anime series, Chisame can quickly change into her Net Idol Chiu and change back to herself in seconds. Chisame uses this ability most commonly on outdoors while nobody is looking and when she can't find any other place to hide into. When she knows that somebody is coming, she will quickly change back to her normal self.

CHISAME In Other Media
Mahō Sensei Negima! (1st Anime)
In the first anime series, Chisame's hair was made green instead of the red pictured above. However, when using her Pactio in the final episode, her hair was magically changed to its right color as Chiu. Chisame's story comes from different circumstances between the manga and anime representation: while the manga version is connected to Chisame's own aggravation of class and having a child teacher with Chiu as her outlet to acceptance, the anime version changes it to a web war between Chiu & 2-A after the class sets up their own webpage. The outcome is similarly changed: the anime version has Chisame finding slight acceptance into the class, while the manga version leads Chisame to becoming even more critical towards Negi and her classmates. She does not take part in the 2-A pillow fight, instead working the booth alongside Kazumi who coerces her to do so when she gets a scoop involving her being Chiu. Another slight adjustment in this version: Akira joins the group of Chisame's "obvious weirdos" as the former's 175 cm. (5 ft., 9 in.) frame puts her between Chachamaru and Kaede.

Negima!?
Chisame mostly retains her typical character traits in this rendition of the story: an antisocial web hacker who secretly becomes a sexy web idol in her room (which surprisingly is shared with Satomi as opposed to living alone[3]). However like the first anime, Chisame's hair color is has changed once again, yet this time for both of her persona. Whenever she is the reclusive Chisame, her hair is brown in color. However, whenever she becomes web idol Chiu, Chisame has the magical ability to change the color of her hair to pink without any editing software. It is unknown how exactly Chisame is able to change her hair color.
At the time of the anime's start, Chisame had recently become the seventh partner for Negi in the manga. However, she only gained Pactio with him during the mass Pactio instead of on her own like the six previous partners in this rendition (since she had not made Pactio with Negi by the start of the anime's production, she was grouped with nearly every other character outside several special cases exclusive to this story). Likewise, Chisame's released when everyone else did at the same time. During the "Suka incident", she turns into a fox who also can turn from Chisame to Chiu. While pics do show the Suka form as both Chisame and Chiu, the Chiu side keeps her playful, sexy persona in a younger body and mind. Similarly, her Cosplay release in the final episode also turns her into Chiu in a web surfing outfit, allowing her to improve the ratings of her website. While promotional pics of her armor form shows Chisame using her hacking abilities (while dressed as a schoolgirl), some promotional images have shown Chisame in the "Negima!?" style with a similar Pactio outfit to the manga, created after her contract. Prior to sealing her contract with Negi, Chisame was among the first three students possessed by a Dark Seed Fairy (the other two were Yūna and Kaede) which Negi and his first four partners (Asuna, Nodoka, Konoka, and Setsuna) had to deal with.
Like the manga, Chisame is careful to avoid any interaction between her normal self and her Chiu-self. Yet as careful as she tries, the audience do consistently see small little Chiu snippets from her website, either while created or while being created by the web idol. Not surprisingly with Chisame's secretive nature, several characters (including Makie, Ku Fei and Chizuru) end up annoying Chisame about knowing or discovering her secret, calling her "Chiu-Chiu-san" in public which the brunette vehemently denies on every turn. Even Zazie, who appears to avoid all interaction in class outside occasional short talks with Mana, imagines a Chiu scene at one point, showing that the knowledge of the web idol is more common knowledge than Chisame would want it to be. The only real threat that Chisame has when it comes to web idol competition is a site that posted an anonymous picture of Nodoka, with Nodoka not knowing about this until she read Chisame's mind in hopes of finding out what her thoughts were while possessed by a Dark Seed Fairy.

Pactio Cards

Idolum Virtuale: Her artifact is called Sceptrum Virtuale and it appears as a heart-topped staff, resembling the weapons commonly seen in magical girl anime. Their names are as follows: Kincha, Hanpe, Konnya, Chikuwafu, Negi, Daiko, and Shirataki. They aid Chisame in her battle with Chachamaru in cyberspace by downloading data, and watching out for any kind of viral attacks. Apparently, they can also aid her in the Real World, as long as an active electrical device is nearby. The mice can also manipulate data from other computers, which allow Chisame's webpage to become the number one Net Idol page on the Internet. It is possible her Pactio has other powers that have yet to be revealed as Chisame later asks Negi about some of the functions of her card. By the time they returned to the real world her abilities exceeded to a point where she hacked another pactio ability.

Negima!: Idol Virtuale: She becomes her Net Idol alter ego with magical powers. Her glasses became a power staff(Comparatively, Chisame's staff appears to be the main artifact for transformation in the manga, while her glasses remain as she deems fit.)

Fox (because of the transformation abilities of foxes in Japanese culture, Chisame can become Chiu in this form)

Transforms into her Net Idol alter-ego, Chiu similar to part of her manga Pactio ability. She wears a VR helmet on her head and flies around on her artifact, a CD. Her special ability allows her access the virtual web world.

wAmiga (sic): A cross between a school girl and a magical girl, she wears a sailor fuku with boots, jacket, headphones and "fox ears". Her weapon is her laptop.

EVANGELINE A.K. MCDOWELL
エヴァンジェリン・アタナシア・カテリン・マクダウェル
A fictional character in the anime and manga series Negima!: Magister Negi Magi created by Ken Akamatsu. The 26th student in Japanese alphabetical order of class 2/3-A, she is actually a physically ageless centuries-old vampire cursed (Infernus Scholasticus (School Hell)) 15 years ago to remain at the school by Nagi Springfield, the father of her teacher and her disciple Negi Springfield. Initially an antagonist for Negi due to his father's actions, she eventually becomes an important teacher and guide for the young mage and his allies as they fight and search for his missing father. However, Eva remains a cruel, powerful mage in her own right, yet with the kindhearted sensitivities of her former human life.

Background
Evangeline was born in a castle in Europe during the Middle Ages, possibly in Ireland or Scotland from her surname, although it is not known if she was royalty or not. When she awoke on her tenth birthday, she found she had been turned into a vampire while she slept (through sorcery, not by being bitten, thus making her a Shinso vampire or "True Blood Vampire").. Initially she had the customary weakness of a vampire towards sunlight and so on that she learned to overcome. She developed her magical powers in order to get revenge on the man who turned her, whom she killed. She was initially forced to lead an itinerant life since she could not hide the fact that her body no longer aged, though later she uses magic to disguise herself as an adult.
Little more is known about her history until more recent times when she was saved by the Thousand Master, then pursued him mercilessly out of love thereafter until he managed to shake her off. Feeling rejected, she finally tracked him down in Japan, but was tricked into walking into an "anti-vampire soup" composed of garlic and leeks. Employing the powerful Infernus Scholasticus (School Hell) curse, the Thousand Master confined her to the grounds of Mahora Academy and put in place a barrier to restrict her abilities. He claimed that Eva should try to "live in the light for a change" and promised her that he would free her from the curse when she graduated. Unfortunately, 5 years later, he "died", thus her chance of being free from the curse was gone until his son Negi came. Konoemon Konoe, the School Dean, employed her as a security guard, personally keeping him informed about events occurring in the school.
Contrary to what everyone believes, the Mage of the Beginning survived his defeat during the Great Mage War. His second identity is the former member of the Ala Rubra, Filius Zect. However, he was murdered 600 years ago at the hands of Evangeline (and every other attempt on his life). It was later revealed that he was not dead but sealed in a magical slumber below the roots of the Magical World Tree in Mahora Academy. On chapter 333 page 14 (on M-A), she may be the daughter of the Lifemaker (Mage of Beginning), as he said, "That was a wonderful spell, my daughter."

Character Design
After the success of various harem series such as Love Hina, Ken Akamatsu stated that he wished to create a different kind of series through Negima. The series initially appeared like another unconventional harem manga, despite changing the male protagonist to a child and creating a large, varied cast. The active introduction of the vampiress Evangeline changed the series into something different. The second character noted for her uniqueness in the class (the first being Chachamaru), she created a more supernatural aura to the world of Mahora Academy outside the child teacher. Starting from her battle with the protagonist, she forced him to become more active and open about his abilities as his first major obstacle.
Evangeline's character parallels Negi in various ways. She is the oldest student at over 600 years of age, yet she appears in age similar to Negi. Similarly, she is one of the few fully Caucasian characters, besides the teacher. Finally, they both come from the magic world with some past connection to the Thousand Master. Initially Akamatsu imagined her wearing a witch's hat even in class, but dropped it early on (the only time she does wear the hat in continuity is during her initial campus raids).
Evangeline's purpose in the story is tied, directly and indirectly, to Negi's own reasons at Mahora. As one of the greater successes of famed mage Nagi Springfield, Evangeline is reflected to have grudges against her teacher for being his son, leading to their initial confrontations. However, their similarities in character and background allows readers to empathize with her character and understand her own problems. After their initial confrontations, Evangeline's character changes towards a parallel teacher to the teacher, contrasting his caring ways with her taskmaster, tough love approach in order to allow for some assistance towards the ultimate goal of finding Negi's father. Though unconventional, Eva's abilities and notoriety allow for faster character and power evolution for the stronger trials that lay ahead.

Personality
Evangeline is the only Caucasian girl in the class. Evangeline's birthday remains unknown. Although her body stopped aging at age 10, she is over 600 years old (born during The Hundred Years War) and thus has the habit of referring to herself as old. A cold and devilish little girl, she is actually a hunted witch and vampire. She once had a six million dollar bounty on her head, with nicknames such as "Dark Evangel", "Doll Master", "Maga Nosferatu", and others. She rarely says much in class, and anything she says tends to lean towards being evil. Despite being an evil vampire, she does have a softer side, that is rarely shown. She is in the Go and Tea Ceremony clubs, out of enjoyment. She has two partners (though not Ministra Magi), Chachazero and Chachamaru. She is also easily bored when times are peaceful, and like Chisame, is frustrated by most of her classmates' attitudes, though she holds them in higher regard compared to Chisame and the fact that Evangeline herself is on Chisame's list of "weirdos", falling under both being foreign and, initially too young for junior high (she is after all seemingly the youngest of the class), thought the latter label has probably been shelved after Chisame learned of Negi's secret. Evangeline loses her temper when someone calls her "little" or "shorty".

Synopsis
Evangeline Arc
Initially, Evangeline watched Negi with some intent upon his arrival at Mahora Academy and eventually attacked him. She claimed that the draining of blood from the son of the Thousand Master would enable her to break the curse binding her to the Mahora campus. Yet, her intention to remove the curse via blood draining remained questionable, and her claim has yet to be verified.

Kyoto Field Trip Arc
When Negi was fighting Fate to stop the summoning of the demon god Ryōmen Sukuna-no-Kami during the Kyoto field trip Konoemon found a loophole that allowed Eva to get out of Mahora and rescue Negi and 3-A. Eva defeated Fate and Sukuna and was allowed to go on the field trip with her classmates.

Training/Wilhelm Arc
Negi convinces her to become his master in magical combat after he sees her true power in Kyoto. As demanding teacher, she expects menial servitude from her student, as well as a daily payment of blood for the lessons. This is considered somewhat in contradiction to her earlier statement, that drinking Negi's blood would break the Thousand Master's curse. Yet, it is possible that only by drinking all of his blood at once, would she be able to boost her power to where she could overcome the curse, or that smaller doses such as this are either insufficient for the task or simply build up the needed energy slower. Despite the assistance she gave Negi in Kyoto, Herrman never captured her when he captured the girls who helped him in Kyoto, and in fact deliberately avoided her. But she watched the ensuing battle from a distance with Chachamaru and Kaede, noting with satisfaction that Negi's adversity helped him develop his abilities further. Some hints indicate a romantic interest in Negi, including some jealousy upon discovery of additional lessons from Ku Fei. More recently, she gave him a rather sensual kiss at her resort.

The School Festival Arc
She does not want to be involved in Chao's plans and opts to observe. She gave Chao full discretion regarding actions to Negi, as well as access Chachamaru's services. This is all likely a repayment to the favor rendered for Chachamaru's creation. However, it could also simply be Evangeline testing her student's capabilities by stacking the odds further against him.

Journey to the Magic World Arc
After the festival, Evangeline puts Asuna through boot camp to help her improve her fighting skills, as it was painfully apparent that Asuna's abilities are far below Negi's. After Asuna succeeded in completing the boot camp, Evangeline forcefully made Asuna her third apprentice. With her training finished, Evangeline began pitting her classmates against each other once the news of Negi's plan to go to England got out. Amused after seeing Makie, Ayaka, and the Twins fail to capture Asuna, she then sets up the Badge Collection game, most likely to test the results of the training Negi's group had underwent. The rules were simple: one only has to steal a special badge from one of the members in Negi's new club. Doing so will give the person the right to accompany the club to Wales. However, the member who loses their badge will be forced to stay behind. She deliberately didn't inform Negi or the other club members that their classmates would try to steal their badges, she only told them that they would not be going to England if they lost them. In the end, their training proved true, and no badges were taken.
She was last shown on August 19th of the timeline, bored out of her mind, and resorting to dressing up Satomi, Satsuki, and Zazie to entertain herself.
After Negi used the dark magic spell scroll Rakan gave him, she appeared as a spirit copy created by Negi's memories of her, which he then fought against inside his own head. During this endless battle Evangeline does not hold anything back and Negi is killed again and again, the battle ends when Negi finally manages to absorb her dark magic into himself.
In more recent chapters she is seen with Albireo Imma and Eishun Konoe in the Library. They are discussing what happened many years ago when Nagi saved Arika from death. And later she is seen with Zazie watching negi's battle with fate as the two worlds became connected and the Grave Keeper's palace projected itself there because of the world tree. Soon the rest of Class 3-A shows up and watches along with them though they do not understand what is going on, and is surprised when Ayaka appears and asks her what is really going on and calls her Dark Evangel.
She goes and asks Albireo what is really going on and he tells her that the man who turned her into what she is who she thought was dead is sealed under the world tree, The Mage of the Beginning.
When many of the members of Cosmo Entelecheia are revived that where defeated and kill twenty and ten years before the star of the series, Negi and his new ally fate are attacked right after their battle, and are eventually overwhelmed. She appears and saves Negi.
As the rest of the reinforcements hold back the enemy, Evangeline begins chanting a new spell. The 3 Fates all attack her at once, but she effortlessly knocks them away and keeps chanting. She then casts her original spell Endless White Nine Heavens which combined Ice and Lightning to chase down the enemies of her choosing. The spell turns all of the puppets barriers against them freezing them alive continuously until Eva chooses to end it. However, she knew the spell wouldn't work on the Mage of the Beginning and warned Rakan to be careful.

Return to the Old World Arc
Some time after "Ala Alba" finally returned home. Evangeline caught Setsuna day-dreaming and told her, her delusions develops just like Chachamaru. After Setsuna told her about her problem, she call her a moron and played with her. She told her that she (Setsuna) was the one who told her that she would choose both happiness and her sword, and now she was saying she was worried. After giving up, Setsuna told her that she feels like Negi and Asuna are moving ahead and she was being left behind. Eva told her that she was the "Soldier Type" and told her that she acts like a warrior in peacetime, but she told her that if it was the Old Setsuna, she wouldn't care about things like those and told her it was a cause for celebration. But then she told her it was boring and played with her again. Then she told Setsuna if she has heard anything from Negi and Asuna, and about the price they have paid. Then the Duo appeared and Evangaline told them to come with her for her "Final Lesson"
In Evangeline's Resort, both Negi and Evangeline began their battle. Evangeline striked first, demanding to see the power Negi used to fight in par with Jack. After Negi used Magia Erebea, the two began to fight in a stalemate. After knocking Negi away, Evangeline began to use her own Magia Erebea. Negi tries to stop her, but it shows futile as Evangeline already powered up to her Magia Erebea form, Queen of Ice. The two then battle and for a moment, they were in a stalemate, until Negi began to show the losing side. After Evangeline impaled her apprentice and was about to finish the fight, Asuna intervened. Evangeline complied to Asuna's desire and declared that she [Evangeline] would be her [Asuna] opponent. As the two fought with Eva, she was suprised of how powerful the two were, but before she and Negi can land their final blows, Negi sneezes which stripped her and Asuna. Then she saw Setsuna breaking down in front of Asuna. She then comments that if they would have been together with everyone if they just stayed in the academy and told her that she is a foolish woman.

Epilogue
She, like the rest of the class, assists Negi in saving Nagi and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. Her promise with the boy regarding Infernus Scholasticus, was carried out together with the loved one. Although she had obtained her freedom, she held back her own grimness of the past, and continued to watch over the fate of the boy and the girl in whom she she saw herself... how things went with the one she loved is a story for another time.

Powers & abilities
Of note is the fact that while Evangeline A.K. McDowell does not have any of the weaknesses of a vampire; she still makes use of vampirism to empower herself. Before being cursed, she wielded immense near-omnipotent magical power, which was likely what prevented any aging. However, the Infernus Scholasticus (School Hell) curse placed upon her by Nagi sealed most of that magic power away, leaving her extremely vulnerable. Judging by her physical weaknesses, it can probably be assumed that Evangeline's magical powers probably boosted her physical capabilities. However, upon losing them, her body, which was now more dependent on magic, became far more susceptible to disease than that of an ordinary human, evident in her constant bouts of allergies and hayfever. In fact, it appears the only thing the remaining magic seems to do is prevent her from aging.
In an attempt to counter this, Evangeline has taken to many different techniques to boost her magical capabilities. The first is her use of catalysts that reduce the drain each spell cast has upon her. The second is vampirism, in which the magical power within the blood is consumed, rather than the blood itself. Thus, Evangeline can keep herself from becoming sick, and allow herself to use stronger magic by drinking the blood of someone with significant magic power. This can also explain why Evangeline is significantly healthier and capable of stronger magic later on in the series.
As a dark mage and vampire, Evangeline specializes in ice-based spells and dark magic, and is shown to be incredibly and near omnipotently powerful once in her full capacities. This is shown in her easy win over both Fate Averruncus and the demon-god Sukuna. Even devoid of her magical powers, she is still a very skilled fighter and can effortlessly take down a man twice her size, largely due to her mastery of the Japanese martial art Aikido. It is implied that Evangeline learnt the art from its creator Morihei Ueshiba himself, as she casually referred to having "picked it up from that old geezer when I came to Japan 80 years ago." Such is her degree of mastery in Aikido that she is able to easily overcome already fearsome warriors like Setsuna with her physical abilities alone (though that may be because Setsuna at the time was hesitant to strike at the body of a 'child'). Her title of Doll (or Puppet) Master stems from the fact that, not only is she able to animate dolls, but she can also control people against their will as if they were puppets, both through her vampiric powers, as well as threads that she can manipulate to ensnare others, controlling them in the same manner as a marionette. Most recently, her forbidden technique called Magia Erebea has been learned by Negi.
In addition to these abilities she also has the powers of a Shinso vampire, which includes extremely fast regeneration and flight. She displayed it in Chapter 52 after being impaled by a spear of rock but then converting her body to a swarm of bats that reformed completely healed behind Fate Averruncus. She later said it is very tiring, but a vampire, especially a Shinso vampire, cannot be hurt by physical means such as a sword or a gun.
Despite having lived for centuries though, Evangeline never learned how to swim, which left her in danger of drowning after her defeat to Negi; fortunately he managed to fly them both to safety.
In chapter 52 page 3, after killing the giant summoned monster, Eva said, "It is a shame it is not a full moon." This may hint that she is not at her full power.

Spells / Techniques / Magic
Snowfall : A highly lethal attack spell which instantaneously creates and launches a large-volume avalanche of snow at the target, causing blunt trauma, frostbite, and at close range, hypothermia – assuming you’re not frozen outright or swept away.

Frozen Earth : This spell causes all moisture near the earth's surface to instantly freeze, causing jagged pillars of ice to jut up from the ground. If not dodged effectively, the opponent's feet will likewise be frozen to the spot, immobilizing them. Evangeline used this spell against Negi to knock him out of the air during their fight, the ice pillars being a navigation hazard to low-flying objects

Axe Of Lightning : A medium-range but powerful Lightning-element attack that is invoked in Ancient Greek (pronounced Dios Tukos), as opposed to Latin. The caster makes a downward-sweeping motion and hits the target with a massive electrical attack.

Sagitta Magica - One of the most basic attack spells, but also very versatile. The caster creates a number of elemental magic missiles and fires them at the target. The number can vary from just one to at least a hundred and ninety-nine arrows, but in the manga is usually a prime number. The missiles have a homing capability, and will track and follow their target at the direction of the caster. Normally, the attack fires in a widespread swarm, similar to an artillery shrapnel shell striking the target from multiple angles, but the caster, by substituting Convergentia for Series, can combine the arrows into a single larger bolt, which is easier to avoid, but hits that much harder. Evangeline primarily uses Ice Arrows that causes piercing and blunt damage and Dark Arrows that cause explosive damage.

Executioner's Sword

A high-level attack spell used by Evangeline and Negi, so far shown to be unincanted. When invoked, the caster's desired hand is wrapped with magical energy, which stabs outward in the direction of the outstretched fingertips in the rough approximate form of a blade. In terms of its effects, Ensis Exsequens causes damage by instantly converting matter from a solid (or liquid) into a gas, via a violent phase transition in order to attack its target; any living opponent caught within such an effect would thus be instantly vaporized and killed. As such a phase transition also absorbs an incredible amount of heat energy in the process, the surrounding area as the spell plummets in tempature as a direct result, causing this spell to actually be a two-stage attack – if the target were to be able to avoid instant vaporization via instanteous phase transition, they would still have to deal with the extreme low temperature left in the spell's wake to deal with. Most magic that utilizes cold does so by lowering the temperature of an object, creating a corresponding condensation and freezing effect. Ensis Exsequens, on the other hand, causes extreme cold by initiating phase transition by means of the sudden transformation of solids into gases. As a result, this spell cannot be considered an Ice-element spell. For spells as high level as this, only mages of Evangeline's ability (or above) would be able to master it.

Hailstone Spear Throw : An attack spell which summons and shoots down dense packs of ice spears. Individually, each warhead is more powerful than regular ice projectiles; however, because it takes the physical form of spears, the practical applications of this spell are limited by ballistics. The ice variant of Iaculatio Fulgoris.

End Of The World :  A high-level spell incanted in Ancient Greek by Evangeline to defeat the Demon-God Sukuna (Ryômen Sukuna no Kami) during the climax of the Kyoto arc. An Ice-based spell that creates a 150-square foot area of absolute zero temperatures (−273.15 °C). At such extreme temperatures, events which do not normally occur in nature begin to happen, such as breakdowns on atomic level and super conductivity. For an Ice Mage, lowering temperature may seem to be a simple enough operation, but to so completely bypass the Laws of Thermodynamics as this spell does, requires an incredible amount of magical ability.

Hammer of the Ice God :  An attack spell which crushes the target with a giant mass of ice. The creation and manipulation of ice being the cornerstone of cold-based magic, this is an extremely simple spell, its only real advantange being the massive force it can bring down on the target. So far, the incantation for this spell has not been revealed.

Snowstorm Of Darkness : An Ice and Dark Magic spell used by Evangeline, of roughly the same level and type as Iovis Tempstas Fulguriens, based on the style of its incantation.

Freezing Ice Coffin :  It seems to be a similar spell to Crystallizatio Tellustris, creating a giant icicle from a bounded field placed on the ground. The pillar then completely encases and traps the target, similar to the effect of Kosmike Krustallopegia.

Endless Nine White Heavens :  An Ice/Lightning original spell of Evangeline she developed to capture Averruncus and similar puppets/constructs after her fight with Fate, and of the same tier as End of the World (and thus either in Sanskrit or Ancient Greek). It creates vines of frozen Lightning homing in on any target that is not completely "real". By freezing them and continuously freezing the surroundings, she can bypass the problem of breaking through the multi-barrier the disciples of the Life-Maker use. Her targets are also completely conscious while frozen, in order to torture them forever. However, as it targets constructs, it is believed to be ineffective against actual humans, although she did target Jack Rakan with the spell.

Appearances In Other Media
Mahō Sensei Negima! (1st anime)
Although consistently a thorn on Negi's side, she does assist when needed. In the final battle, her Pactio ability awakens her true power once again. In a rare act of kindness she casts a spell to reveal Sayo to the rest of the class because as she says "She's the only one to know how it feels to be trapped at the school." Her nails are initially purplish-white, purple in her adult fo
rm, but later they are the correct color of blood red. It is interesting to note that in this series her eyes are green but in all other medias her eyes are blue.

Negima!?
Like the manga, Evangeline begins this series as Negi's enemy, desiring to fight him while feeling guilted towards her former relations with the Thousand Master/Nagi. She takes an active role much earlier than in the first anime, becoming an antagonist in the first episode. Though Evangeline retains some comedic traits, she is overall depict as far more threatening than in the first anime.
After her defeat against Negi, Evangeline tries to stay on the sidelines during the Star Crystal crisis, watching from a distance and spending more time eating ramen and drinking tea with Takamichi and Chachamaru. However Eva soon becomes a consistent target towards the Star Crystal's master, particularly after journeying into the "other world Mahora". In an early attempt, Eva is transformed into a giantess before she is finally pacified by the abilities of Chachamaru. Later, when the Star Crystal mastermind is finally realized, the powers of the crystal infect Eva, transforming her into a servant of the controller. With the assistance of his students, Negi defeats Evangeline again by doing a Pactio on her, freeing her from the evil influence.
Within the series itself, Eva only had one Pactio release: during the final mass Pactio, she transforms into a doll-like Cosplay form much to her chagrin. However, an omake after the "Suka Incident" also shows Eva in her Suka form as a rabbit. Like her potential manga Pactio card as well as the first anime, Evangeline's potential armor card transforms her back into her adult form with full vampiric powers.
Outside her relations with Negi, Eva's relations with Chachamaru are also emphasized, showing her concern for her robotic servant even when broken down from battles and always having her either serve or receive all meals that the vampire partakes in (even to the point of having Chachamaru buy takeout from a ramen stand Takamichi opens and waiting impatiently until she returned).
It is also implied that she can fence as in one episode she pulls out an ice rapier using her magic.
Also, her nails are always uncolored when not in her adult form in this incarnation, as seen in the picture on the top right.

Pactio Cards
Magistra Puparum: None, as of now.

Negima!: Magistra Puparum: She is shown in her real vampire form and her full powers are unsealed.

 Rabbit

Dressed in a frilly and pretty little girl-like dress. She holds a Chachamaru (not Chachazero because of the doll's long hair) doll as her main artifact.

Doll Master: She transforms into her adult/teenage vampiric form with her real powers restored. She sits on a floating throne with vampiric signs around it. The throne makes her magical powers even more powerful than before.

CHACHAZERO  チャチャゼロ

A magical doll that was Evangeline's Ministrum Magi before Nagi cursed the Dark Evangel with Infernus Scholacticus. She looks like a small and childlike version of Chachamaru. Unlike Chachamaru (Evangeline's current Ministra Magi), who is powered by a minimal amount of magical energy that Evangeline still has and a spring, Chachazero needs to be powered by quite a large amount of magic, which mainly came from Evangeline. Because of the curse, she can talk on her own, but cannot move unless there is a large concentration of magic in the area, which is the reason why Evangeline relies on Chachamaru. Chachamaru is polite kind and well mannered. However, Chachazero is rude, abrupt, a bit of a whiner and sometimes bloodthirsty. She is always complaining that she cannot move and that her master has become too soft and not so evil. This is because Chachazero enjoys killing things and seeing things get killed. When she fights, she uses two daggers, and sometimes, a giant sword larger than she is. She is sometimes seen riding on Chachamaru's head or carried like a marionette by Evangeline. In areas with the high amounts of ambient magical energy, such as Evangeline's resort, or during the Mahora Festival, Chachazero is able to move about on her own like a small child. She was also able to move about freely in Kyoto, since Evangeline's full powers were unsealed. Chachazero also seems to get along well with Chamo.

In Other Media
While she can be vindictive in the manga, in the anime Chachazero takes on a minor and childlike role; appearing in the memory and voicing Evangeline's request for Nagi to "become mine {Evangeline's}" and the recurring dream of Evangeline's past defeat at Nagi's hands.

In Negima!? Neo she and Chachamaru gain more human appearance as both of them don't seem so robotic. She also helps with Negi's training and she is stricter than Evangeline.

MIYAZAKI NODOKA  宮崎 のどか (和香)
One of character from the manga series Negima!: Magister Negi Magi, created by Ken Akamatsu. The 27th student in Japanese alphabetical order of class 2/3-A, this shy, introverted bookworm falls for Negi at first sight after (literally) falling for him and tries to go beyond her emotions to win his heart. Eventually, Nodoka becomes a major ally of Negi’s team, gaining a Pactio ability in reading minds and attempting to learn magic all in the name of winning Negi, even at the possible cost of losing her friend, fellow Library Exploration Club member Yue Ayase.

Personality
Nodoka is the shy bookworm of the class. Even her own name means “quiet,” “tranquil” or “calm.”[1] As a member of the Library Exploration Group, she spends plenty of time in the library and helps in the book store. Her involvement with books gives her the nickname of “librarian girl” or “bookshop.” (Asuna calls her “Bookworm” in the dub and 本屋ちゃん Hon’ya-chan in the original Japanese. Del Rey translates it as “librarian girl,” “Librarian-chan” and also the literal meaning “Bookstore,” while Tong Li and Chuang Yi translate it as “Bookshop.”) Initially, she uses her hair to cover her eyes completely. As her confidence grows, her hairstyle changes to the point where both eyes are made visible by a short ponytail. She is among the higher-scoring students in her grade, placing twenty-first for the entire school at her grade level and fourth in her own class.

Character Design
Ken Akamatsu occasionally adjusts characters and traits from previous manga and uses them for a new character design. He has said that Nodoka Miyazaki is similar to Shinobu Maehara, the young, shy female from his previous manga Love Hina. Though closer in age to the students in the class, Nodoka has a similar “helmet” hairstyle and shy, insecure personality, but without the violent tendencies Shinobu developed later in the Love Hina series. However, Akamatsu chose to further emphasize this by giving her bangs long enough to cover her eyes, both to show her shy nature and because he found it more attractive. Certain sketches also show Nodoka with one eye visible from under the bangs, a trademark both to show her coming out of her shell as well as a perspective of her own version of eye contact. During development of Negima, her name was originally Mieko Miyazaki.
In the story, Nodoka is almost immediately connected and brought into play with Negi and the magical world surrounding him. Unlike many of the other females whose interest with the new teacher are superficial crushes or infatuations, Nodoka is the first to hold stronger feelings towards him and attempt to express them instead of simply being an ordinary student. Through these feelings, she initially discovers magic by becoming Negi's second Pactio contract and after being thrust into the chaos during the Kyoto Field Trip arc. Her character grows significantly compared to many of the other characters. Despite the strangeness of magic and her own obsession with Negi, Nodoka shows some adaptability yet retains some of her initially introverted personality. Aside from Negi, she usually interacts with her fellow Library Exploration Club members, particularly Yue and Haruna. As Nodoka discovers Yue’s simultaneous feelings towards Negi, she gives comfort to her emotionally distressed friend.

Part In The Story
The Child Teacher Arc
Despite having no interest in the opposite sex, Nodoka developed feelings for Negi after he saved her when she fell down some steps. Although Yue and Haruna encourage Nodoka to talk to Negi, she is initially too shy. After Negi is force-fed his own love potion, she is one of the many girls to fall under its spell. She traps Negi in the library and attempts to kiss him, but Asuna intervenes and renders her unconscious before she can do anything.
When the Baka Rangers, including Yue, journey to Library Island, Nodoka and the other members of the Library Expedition Club serve as a communications team, providing contact from the surface while Negi, Konoka and the Baka Rangers travel underground, with her and Haruna waiting for the group as they made their way to the surface. Negi’s chart reveals that Nodoka’s grades make her the 21st highest-ranking student at Mahora Academy.

Evangeline Arc
Nodoka is one of the students attacked by Evangeline. She is rendered unconscious, but Negi saves her before Evangeline can drink her blood. Chamo attempts to trick Nodoka into becoming Negi’s partner with a fake love letter, but Asuna reveals Chamo’s true motives before they are able to form a contract. When the ceremony is cancelled, Nodoka is knocked out and wakes up later, convinced it was all an “immoral dream.”

Kyoto Field Trip Arc
During the second day of the Kyoto field trip, Nodoka, after gaining the courage to do so, confesses her love to Negi. However, due to Negi still being a kid, he doesn’t know how to properly respond to the confession. Meanwhile, Nodoka, along with her friend, Yue, end up taking part part in a late night game orchestrated by Asakura in which students attempt to kiss Negi. After a situation where numerous clones of Negi attempt to attract the competitors, resulting in literally explosive results, the real Negi shows up in front of Nodoka and Yue, the only two competitors remainining in the game (as Chisame and Yuuna got caught and were forced to spend the rest of the night sitting in a seiza position, and the rest fell victim to the Negi clones). Confronting her, Negi explains the situation about how he can't answer Nodoka love's confession just yet and suggests that they should start off as friends, with her accepting. Afterwards, Yue, keeping her promise to help Nodoka, intentionally trips her, causing her to fall and kiss Negi( Chapter 37), making her the winner of the “Kiss Negi” contest.
As a result of winning this contest, Nodoka became the second student to make a probationary contract with Negi, if inadvertently. Her magical artifact, which she initially summons after overhearing a conversation between Asuna and Chamo about how the copy card can be used to summon a Pactio item, is the “Diarium Ejus,” a diary that shows the thoughts of any person she speaks the name of.
During the third day of the field trip, Nodoka notices that Negi and Asuna left the rest of Group 5 at the arcade while they head off to the headquarters of the Kansai Magic Association, and, curious as to what they are doing, follows them. While just outside of the “loop trap” that the Kansai mercenaries set up to trap Negi and Asuna, she begins to realize how to use the Diarium Ejus after, upon hearing Negi’s cry for help from inside, she says his name, and his thoughts appear in the book’s pages. Hoping to find Negi’s location via the book, Nodoka eventually discovers that Negi and Asuna have confronted one of the mercenaries, a dog demon by the name of Kotarou Inugami, with Negi having a hard time fighting him. Eventually, after Negi and Asuna escape via a smoke bomb activated by Chamo and a chibi-version of Setsuna, Kotarou ends up running into Nodoka, with the two eventually recognizing each other thanks to Kotarou accidentally running into her while he was at the arcade doing some recon work before his fight with Negi. During this run-in, Nodoka not only realizes that he’s the one that was fighting with Negi, but she also discovers that despite him working for the enemies, he’s not really a bad person. However, with the knowledge that he’s the one that was fighting with Negi, she eventually gets Kotarou to reveal his name, allowing her to read his mind and not only inform Negi about Kotarou’s attacks but also discover a way out of the “loop trap.”
After escaping from the “loop trap,” Negi finally admits his secret to Nodoka. To Negi’s surprise, Nodoka, being the book reader that she is, not only accepts the revelation rather well but also reveals that she had an inkling that Negi was a mage before the events of the Kyoto field trip.

Training/Wilhelm Arc
Following the trip to Kyoto, Nodoka and the rest of the Library Exploration Club is asked by Negi to help him decipher the maps that Eishun gave him on the last day of the trip. While Negi is training with Ku Fei in preparation to become Evangeline's apprentice, Nodoka eventually learns that Yue has become aware of magic as well. When the two discover that Eishun's clue points to a location underneath Library Island, not only does Yue have Negi confirm her hunch that he is a mage, but also the two accompany him during his search in the lower portions of Library Island. During their exploration trip, the three confront a dragon, with Chachamaru coming to their aide and helping them retreat for the time being. Following the event, both Nodoka and Yue decide to start partaking in magical studies, with them using the abilities of Evangeline’s resort (where they are able to partake a day’s lessons in one hour normal time) to practice basic magic skills.
During her first time entering Evangeline's resort, Nodoka notices Negi setting up some mind-syncho magic so that way he can tell Asuna about his past. Pressured into doing so by Evangeline, Nodoka eventually utilizes the Diarium Ejus so that way the two and Chachazero can learn about Negi's past as well. Eventually, everyone else in the resort finds out about what's going on, resulting in them learning about the attack in Negi's home village six years ago.
During the Wilhelm incident, Nodoka was one of many girls initially kidnapped by Wilhelm and the Slime sisters, only for them to escape and assist Negi in the battle. For Nodoka, she and Yue used the sealing jar that Kotarou gave to Negi to seal away Wilhelm’s accomplices, the Slime Sisters.

The School Festival
During the first day of the festival, Nodoka invites Negi to a date where she gains enough courage to kiss him a second time after some unfortunate yet insane events (including Negi’s becoming possessed with the power of the World Tree, followed by fighting and kissing Asuna). Negi is surprised, but he seems to have enjoyed the kiss, thinking later that Nodoka's lips are soft and that it was different from his Pactio kisses.
During the second day of the festival, Nodoka, along with the rest of the Library Club, showed their support for Negi during the Mahora Festival Tournament. After Negi's first round win against Takahata, she, along with Yue and Konoka, become concerned about Haruna finding out about Negi's secret life as a wizard, as they're afraid that if she learns the secret, it will be spread all across the school within two hours. During Negi's semi-final match against Setsuna, Haruna reads a circulated piece of news that Negi was in Japan to look for his father, with her suspecting that her fellow Library Club members are hiding information from her. Eventually, Nodoka, along with Yue and Konoka, are forced to admit the truth about Negi's magical bacground to Haruna, with them doing so (as well as revealing their involvement in magic training and as Negi's Ministra Magi) before the start of Library Island Tour. This eventually leads to Haruna, in hopes of getting a Pactio card herself, kissing Negi as soon as he shows up to attend the tour, not realizing that the kiss has to be done in a Pactio circle.
Later on during the tour, Nodoka accidentally overhears a conversation between Yue and Haruna and discovers that Yue is also developing feelings for Negi. As a result, Nodoka wants to avoid a bitter love triangle situation and to make sure that both she and Yue can be in love with Negi while still being able to remain friends. After confronting her about the situation, Nodoka suggests that Yue should make a Pactio with Negi, with her doing so after Haruna and Konoka push Yue and Negi into a position that results in the two kissing each other.
During the third day of the Mahora Festival, she is part of the group caught in the time-trap set by Chao, along with Negi. After escaping from an alternate future, she becomes part of the group fighting Chao’s robot army in the Mars Attacks Vs Mage Order “game.” As they make their way towards Chao, Negi is nearly struck by the time-warping bullets fired from a Tanaka robot. Nodoka saves Negi by pushing him out of the way and taking the hit. Immediately, Negi tries to use the Cassiopeia, the only thing that can cancel the effect of the bullets, but she pleads with him to go on because she believes that, due in part to the inability to use the Diarium Ejus on Chao's robot army, she can’t be of any help to the situation. She disappears, but Chamo assures a stunned Negi that she is safe and will be waiting for him three hours in the future, which she does at the end of the battle.
Following the events of the Mahora Festival, Nodoka becomes concerned about her relationships with both Negi and Yue. After seeing Yue understand the problems that Negi’s having during the festival, Nodoka becomes jealous of Yue and begins to question what her true desire is when it comes to Negi. After confessing to Misora about this situation, Nodoka uses the Diarium Ejus to discover what she really wants, and is shocked to see that the first solution that comes to mind is saishōdōkin (妻妾同衾) - both her and Yue living together with Negi as his wife and mistress. Spied upon by Haruna, Fei and Chamo, Nodoka rejects this possibility out of embarrassment.

Journey to the Magic World
Just before the start of of the summer break, Nodoka and the other members of the Library Exploration Club are invited to travel with Negi to Wales (they find out about it when they overhear Negi offering Asuna the invitation to go to Wales, with Nodoka and Yue mistaking it for a love confession). She furthers her studies in magic along with Yue in Evangeline’s Resort in preparation for the trip. There, she, Yue and Konoka practice simple telekinetic exercises, which include pushing over pencils and erasers from a distance using psychic waves. Negi applauds the three in their progress and predicts they will be ready to begin casting magical arrows within 78 hours.
With the trip scheduled to begin within 2 weeks, Nodoka and Yue decide to tour the summer festival. However, they are both the primary targets of Yuna, Ako, Makie and Akira in Evangeline’s Badge Collection game, since they seem to be the weakest of Negi’s group to Britain. Thanks to some fancy magic tricks from Yue, the two of them manage to give Yuna and the other sports girls the slip. Nodoka then invokes a new variation of her Pactio artifact. Her Diarium Ejus split apart into 4 smaller notebook versions of itself, allowing her to read the thoughts of Yuna, Makie, Ako and Akira simultaneously. This allowed them to stay several steps ahead of their pursuers.
During an outing to the beach, she and Yue are present when Negi’s old friend Anya makes a sudden appearance, with Anya later befriending the two after she joins them at a hotel hot spring and noticing their chest sizes are similar to hers, even though she was initially unaware of how both girls not only have romantic feelings for Negi but have also made Pactios with him. Oddly enough, when Haruna made the "Dark Nodoka", it was labeled "The Perfect Bitch" above it.
When the White Wing club enters the Magic World, Nodoka and a few other students watch the fight between the “fighter” members of the White Wing and Fate’s group on a nearby terrace. However, she can do nothing but watch as Fate succeeds in destroying the gateway, causing a massive explosion of displacement magic, which in turn scatters her and the rest of the White Wing members all across the magic world.
While separated from the others, Nodoka is with a group of treasure hunters, who value her experience in detecting hidden traps. Nodoka receives a ring called the “Comptina Daemonia” (Demon's Lullaby) that shows her the name of anyone during an expedition in the ruins of Noctis Labyrinthus.
She then later sends a letter to Ako and the other girls telling them that she will be meeting up with them soon. Later on, she acquires an item called a “reading ear,” which resembles a hearing aid and actually recites the words that appear in her artifact when using it so she doesn’t have to actually read them, allowing her to focus her attention elsewhere. Nodoka eventually reunites with Negi when the group of treasure hunters are under attack by a group of bounty hunters called the “Black Hounds” (who want Nodoka as bait for Setsuna and Kaede). She manages to slip from their grasp once by surprising them with her mind reading abilities but is shortly captured again and subsequently has most of her clothing striped off before being “saved” by Kaede and Setsuna, though it was a trap. However, Asuna manages to come in at the last moment and block the trapping spell. With Negi showing up and using his newfound “dark” abilities to defeat the “Black Hounds,” Nodoka is freed, though accidentally showing her bare chest to Negi.
She then joins the rest of the Ala Alba (save for Anya and Yue) and arrives at Ostia just in time for the start of a festival (with the treasure hunters joining them on the trip, as they provide Nodoka with some magic and fighting training in case she gets into another situation similar to the Black Hounds incident). During the first day of the festival, she, along with Chisame and Haruna, confront one of Fate’s Ministra Magi, Shirabe. During this showdown, Nodoka discovers Shirabe’s real name and begins to read her mind, which prompts Shirabe to attempt to kill her. However, Kotarou comes to the group's aid, and his clone technique rescues them.
After being saved by Kotarou, Nodoka arrives at the scene of the fight between Negi and Fate and discovers Fate’s real name. While trying to find out his goal for the festival, her artifact gets petrified by Fate’s spell when he tries to attack her. However, as she notices, all the information that was recorded on the book before it was petrified is preserved. While Nodoka can easily fix the book by desummoning it, due to the fact that the book would delete all the information written on it if that happened, she keeps the book as it is so she can provide this information when Negi and his group reassemble at the end of the first day of the festival.
For most of the festival following the battle with Fate's group, Nodoka, alongside Asuna (more speficially, Shiori disguised as Asuna) and Konoka, remain back in Ostia with Negi, Kotarou, and Chisame while the rest explore the ruins of old Ostia in search for a gatepost home. Keeping low, Nodoka, Asuna, and Konoka utilize the same disguise Chismae is using (in which they use age pills to pose as kids and sport cat ears), with Aisha and Lyn (two of the treasure hunters that Nodoka travelled with during the time she was separated from the others) posing as chaperones. While they were there, the girls not only helped Negi and Kotarou prepare for their fight against Rakan, but they also met up with Yuuna and Make and learned that Takane, Mei, Misora, and Cocone were also stuck in the Magic World (with them attending the Ostia festival as well).
After Negi’s battle against Jack Rakan, Nodoka, Negi and Asuna find themselves meeting an amnesia struck Yue, along with some of the other mages from Ariadne. As Negi explains to the Ariadne mages about how Yue is one of his Ministra Magi (and how he’s the son of Nagi Springfield), the group is confronted by the Ostian Governor-General, Godel. Even though Negi and Asuna get injured as they try to attack Godel, they and Nodoka are able to escape with some help from Setsuna, Tosaca and Craig (another treasure hunter that Nodoka was with during her time away from the others). As Negi is recuperating from the injuries received from Godel, Nodoka and Setsuna discover that Godel left in Negi’s clothes an invitation to a ball to the held later in the evening. During this ball, Godel has plans to reveal to Negi various information concerning his parents and the attack that took place at Negi village six years ago.
During the ball, Nodoka, along with Kazumi and Chisame, is chosen by Negi to accompany him into a private room where Negi is to have a private conversation with Godel, with Nodoka being chosen due to her mind-reading ability. Negi and the girls are then led to a room where Godel projects images of the attack on Negi’s home village. After Godel informs Negi that the Megalomesembrian Council was the one behind the attack, the girls watch as Negi, with revenge on his mind, gets corrupted by the Magia Erebea, with Nodoka noticing that the pages of Diarium Ejus turning black as a result of Negi’s mind being filled with hatred. However, just as Negi is about to attack Godel at full force, Nodoka and Kazumi restrain him, with Nodoka telling him that this “dark” version is not the Negi that she, Yue, and the rest of the class have fallen in love with. These words enable Negi to start snapping out of his “dark” state (with Chisame completing the process by slapping him and adding some comments about how the idea of revenge shouldn’t be the only thing that Negi gained from that day six years ago). As Negi calms down, Nodoka notices on the still black pages of the Diarium Ejus the main wish that Negi had following the attack on his village: to find his father.
Later in the conversation, after Negi got upset at Godel over the fact that he wasn't going to try to save everyone in Mundus Magicus, Nodoka used the Diarium Ejus to gain from Godel the final secret concerning Mundus Magicus. However, before she can reveal the information to Negi, the attack by the demons summoned by Fate's group resulted in the buiding to collaspe, causing her and Kazumi to be separated from Negi, Chisame, and Ku Fei (who busted into the room to assist Negi and the girls in making their escape), with the two hanging from a ledge created by the destruction of the demon attack. Luckily, just before the two girls were about the fall to their doom, Craig and Aisha arrived and rescued them, with the group heading towards the emergency rendezvous location that Negi and his students have set up. Unforunately, the group, on their way to the rendezvous point, was confronted by Dynamis, the cloaked being that assisted Fate in the oringal Gatepost attack. After using the Code of the Lifemaker to delete Craig and Aisha, Dynamis was about to send Nodoka's soul to the "land of eternity" when Nodoka used the Comptina Daemonia on him and, through a combination of a smaller copy of the Diarium Ejus (while the regular version is currently in Negi and Chisame's possession) and the skills she learned from the treasure hunters, is able to avoid Dynamis's attacks, grab the Grand Master Key, which is the key staff he was using to delete Craig and Aisha, and used it to transport herself and Kazumi to the rendezvous point. However, Dynamis followed the two and is able to not only not reclaimed the Grand Master Key, but also used Nodoka as a hostage against Kaede. Luckily, Nodoka is saved by Setsuna, who used the Takemikazuchi to cut off the arm that Dynamis was using to hold Nodoka hostage. After she and the rest of the people who met up at the rendezvous point were picked up by a mantra driver who helped transport Yuna and Makie to Ostia for the festival, Nodoka explained to the rest of the Ala Alba (both those in the mantra and those who were on board Haruna's ship) about the "Master Keys" that can utilize the Code of the Lifemaker. During this, she mentions the existence of the Great Grand Master Key, a key staff whose level of power is equal to the "Creator" himself. Nodoka believes that if the Ala Alba can get their hands on the key, then they'd be able to bring back all the people who were deleted during the attack by Fate and his minions.
After explaining the key system to the rest of the group, Nodoka, along with Chisame and Mana, got involved in helping Negi expose Shiori, the "fake" Asuna that had replaced the real one during the first day of the festival. As part of those who were involved, Nodoka not only found out about how Shiori's true name is Luna, but also the location of where Asuna and Anya are currently being held. Following that, Nodoka then confronted the amnesia stricken Yue again, with her finding out that Yue has begun to regain her memories of being friends with Nodoka, although she still lacks the memories she had of Negi being her teacher. {C
At the start of the assault on the Gravekeeper’s Palace , Nodoka was among the Ala Alba accompanying Negi as he made his way to obtain the Great Grand Master Key. On their way, Nodoka, thanks to Dynamis using the Grand Master Key to force those people that were in Kaede's cloak out of hiding, ended up getting involved in the fight between Negi's crew and Dynamis, Tsukuyomi (who cut off part of Nodoka’s ahoge after she was forced out of hiding), and three of Fate's Ministra Magi, with her coming to Negi's aide by tackling Homura just as she's about to hit Negi with a fire attack. She was then treated by Konoka for her burns. Once the students thought they got control of the fight, she, along with Chisame and Luna, were supposed to accompany Negi as he headed further down to retrieve the Great Grand Master Key. However, an attack by Dynamis resulted in Negi becoming corrupted by the Magia Erebea, with him falling into a coma after he attacked Luna, who shed her Asuna disguise in an attempt to stop him from killing Dynamis, and Chisame.
With Negi unable to help at the moment, the Ala Alba came up with a plan to retrieve both the Great Grand Master Key and Asuna without him, with Nodoka joining Kaede, Makie, and Yuuna as they met up with Kotarou’s group outside of the site of the rewriting ceremony. Utilizing Natsumi’s artifact as a way to prevent Fate from noticing them, the group was able to gain both the Great Grand Master Key and Asuna, although Sayo, Yuuna, and Beatrix ended up getting hit by Fate’s petrification attack. With the Great Grand Master Key in hand, Nodoka utilized it to teleport the group out of the ceremony site before it was hit by a full power blast from Chachamaru’s artifact. However, no sooner do they escape, Nodoka is hit by a lightning attack casted by Quintum, one of three Fate clones that were created by Dynamis. Thanks to Yue’s magic, Nodoka is able to recover from Quintum’s attack in just a minute. By the time Nodoka comes to, the rest of Kotarou’s group, except for Natsumi, has been taken out by Quintum, with the two remaining conscious girls in the group witnessing him being defeated by Fate.
Currently, Nodoka and Natsumi have been captured by Fate, had their artifact cards taken, and are at the site of the rewriting ceremony. Just before an awakened Negi arrived at the site, Nodoka mentions to Fate that she can still read his thoughts and tries to convince Fate into joining them when they return to Mahora Academy, by talking about Negi’s hopes of befriending him, and saying that Fate has Negi always in his mind. Fate responds to it by slapping Nodoka, who responds back to it with a simple smile, maybe because she knows that he could have done something worse to her but he didn't. She kept smiling as Negi and the group that was on board the airship arrived soon afterward. While Negi was busy fighting Fate, Nodoka and Natsumi, along with some of members of the airship group, Ku Fei, and Anya, attempted to prevent Shirabe from placing Asuna on the ceremony altar, which ended up being unsuccessful, as Shirabe endured the attacks and, using her plant-based abilities, was able to complete her task.

Epilogue
She, like the rest of the class, assists Negi in saving Nagi and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. When on break from the ISSDA R&D Department, she joins her old comreades in exploring acient ruins. Every day is a trival as she gets involved in her best friends side job after work. She often meets Negi on the route.

Abilities
Pactio: Pudica Bibliothecaria: Nodoka has currently formed one Pactio with Negi in Chapter 37. Nodoka gained a picture diary called Diarium Ejus that can read the inner thoughts of people, and prints those thoughts into words and images. This is very useful in a variety of situations, including combat and information gathering, (especially for interrogations, though Nodoka is reluctant to forcibly read the inner thoughts of others - she always apologizes afterwards). This artifact is considered to be very powerful and its potential for misuse is considerable. However, the reason why Nodoka received the book may be because her innocent personality prevents her from abusing it. There are two drawbacks to note. First, is that in order to read the thoughts of a person, she needs to know his/her name and second, the person's mind that she wishes to read has to be within a 5-point radius of her. Its range might be further now, since Nodoka was able to read Yue's mind when she went chasing after her in the lower levels at Library Island. If she does not use the diary or not call a name, it will read her mind automatically by default, much to her embarrassment.
As a note, Nodoka does not have to meet a person to read their mind. In volume 9, chapter 74, Nodoka uses her book to read the mind of Sayo Aisaka, seat number one and resident ghost of class 3-A. Since Nodoka had never actually met Sayo we can say that she just needs to know the name of who she is contacting, or at the very least, just need to know what they look like (which is possible in Sayo's case since her photo is in the class register).
The images that appear in her diary are usually simplistic with very poor details. Evangeline even commented that the pictures were not very realistic. Whether this is a property of the artifact or based on Nodoka's perceptions is unclear, but these depictions have led to some misunderstandings (such as the case of Sayo Aisaka, in which the bad drawings depicted her as some kind of blood-thirsty spirit).
The fact that Nodoka was unable to use the book to read the minds of some robots that Negi and his crew confronted during the third day of the School Festival suggests that the book's mind-reading abilities can only be used on non-artificial beings (either living or ghosts) or it just affects beings that have a significant degree of self-awareness, Intelligence or sentience. Whether it can work on artificial beings powered by magic like Chachamaru or Chachazero is unknown.
While she is reading the book, Nodoka becomes unaware of anything happening in her surroundings (when she was reading Negi's thoughts during the fight with Kotarou at the Shinto gates, she was completely oblivious to the fact that said battle was occurring directly behind her). This could be due to her being so engrossed in what is occurring in the book, she forgets about everything else. Though later it appears that she has mostly gotten over this weakness, as seen when she used her multi-version of the Diarium Ejus to get away from the sports girls and when trying to read Sayo's mind.
A new power is revealed in chapter 177 when Nodoka and Yue were pursued by the Sports Girls during the Badge Collection game. The book can be split into several smaller, notebook versions of itself. By doing so, Nodoka could read the thoughts of more than one person simultaneously, though only words can be printed, not images. This gives her a tactical edge against multiple opponents. Also, summoning smaller versions of the Diarium Ejus enables Nodoka to read the minds of other even if she's separated from the "regular" version of the book (i.e. in the case of her confrontation with Dynamis, Nodoka used a smaller Diarium Ejus to read his mind while the regular-sized version of the book was in the possession of Negi and Chisame).
An attempt by Nodoka to use the Diarium Ejus to expose Shiori as an imposter disguised as Asuna reveals one another weakness that the book has: when it comes to a person that has separate personalities (i.e. Shiori when she's disguised as someone else), both identities are considered to be different individuals according to the book, thus making it hard to read the thoughts of one "personality" if he/she is currently manifesting another "personality".
When in use, the book levitates and turns its own pages as the thoughts of the target person are read. Normally, the pages are blank until the thoughts of the target person are read and displayed. Closing the book automatically stops the mind-reading process. Nodoka can also edit the words and images that appear, as if she were using a word processor. So far, it has been shown that she can delete text and images in the book, simply by pointing with her index finger and using the proper incantation, (Deletus). The total amount of information that can be stored is unknown, though Nodoka has been using her artifact to record her own thoughts like a regular diary. It is possible that the book has other abilities that have yet to be shown, as Nodoka continues to learn about magic and her artifact.
When it comes to the origins of the Diarium Ejus, the following passage appears (in Japanese) as part of the instructions on how to use the book (as seen in volume 5, chapter 38):
This book was created in 1459, the masterpiece of (blocked) Shantoto. Its purpose was to act as an aid to (blocked) and his magi, and can also be used as an art (blocked) in the hands of one who would abuse the power.
Along with the Diarium Ejus, Nodoka is also able to use her Pactio card to summon books that relate to the Artes Liberalis. So far, these books have only been used by Nodoka as an offensive weapon (more specifically, to drop on Haruna when she used her Pactio item to make "dark" and "ero" versions of Nodoka). However, it is possible that these books, along with the Kinder- und Hausmärchen book that also appears on her Pactio card, may have unique powers of their own.

Magical Abilities: Though she has yet to demonstrate any proficiency with spell-casting, she has claimed that she had completed the studying portion if not the practical portion. She is also currently carrying a training wand, though she is only using it for practice to cast spells. She also learned how to erect a magic barrier around herself from Aisha, this allows her to block Dynamis's attack in chapter 280.

Encyclopedic Knowledge: As she is among the highest test-scoring students in Negi's class, plus being a member of the Library Exploration Club, Nodoka possesses a wide range of knowledge over a variety of subjects (such as knowing the 5-second rule in dodgeball). This is very useful when Negi and his crew discover that the map of the Magic World resembles that of Mars, with her explaining how the Magic World is Mars on an "alternate plane".

Hidden Trap Detection: Due to her membership in the Library Exploration Club, Nodoka is experienced in spotting the signs of booby traps and such. This skill comes in handy with the group of treasure hunters she was traveling with during her separation from the rest of Ala Alba.

Demon's Lullaby : To offset the weakness of having to know the target person's name, in order to read his/her mind with the Diarium Ejus, Nodoka has a magic ring which will show the name of any person she encounters. To use it, Nodoka simply has to ask for a person's name while wearing the ring. It is said to be possessed by a demon, though it seems Nodoka has no problem with it.

Reading Ear: To amplify her mind-reading abilities, Nodoka receives an earpiece that serves as a Bluetooth device for the Diarium Ejus. By putting a clip on the Diarium Ejus, Nodoka can use the earpiece to listen in on the thoughts of others. Along with a clip for her book, Nodoka received a few more clips as well, although their purpose is yet to be known.

NODOKA In Other Media
Mahō Sensei Negima! (1st Anime)
Although she gains the same Pactio as the manga, she becomes the third student in the class to gain it and the first of the infamous "Mass Pactio". Like the Manga, during the dodgeball game with the high school girls she is saved from being hit by Asuna. However unlike the manga she turns around and gets hit a little later in the head and is knocked out of the game, which is considered an illegal hit in the official dodgeball rule book. She was also slightly haunted by Sayo before her discovery. Also, she initially has a mild case of androphobia (fear of men)in this series.

Negima!?
As always, Nodoka is smitten with Negi at first sight and coaxed by her Library Club friends to go after him. She finds out about Negi's secret after noticing his removal of some "dark spores". Then she becomes trapped in a hedge maze trap with Negi and Asuna. There, she becomes the second girl to make a Pactio with Negi. After becoming one of Negi's partners, she began assisting Negi in various tasks relating to the search of the Star Crystal (from trying to find information about a crystal that appeared when Negi sealed a plant-like fairy to assisting him in his search for "dark spores").
Eventually, Yue and Haruna find out about the magic connection between Negi and Nodoka, after she tripped on her books in her room; and Negi used magic to break her fall. With some curiosity, they promise Nodoka to keep the world of magic a secret as long as they see an example of Negi activating her Pactio. Unfortunately, when Chamo suggests that those two make Pactios with Negi as well, Yue's reluctance to kiss Negi results in the entire 3-A class to discover Negi's secret, resulting in him turning into a chupacabra. Luckily, Nodoka (along with some of the other girls that have made Pactios before this incident) was able to convince the class to make Pactios with Negi in order to break the spell, with her then showing the benefits of having a Pactio with Negi when he activates her Pactio to find an exit from the "Star Crystal Fairy" world that the class was trapped in.
While Negi and his class was stuck in the ruined version of Mahora, Nodoka, along the rest of the Library Trio, was part of the "research" group that focused on finding a way out of this world, the significance of the three crystals that appeared whenever Negi sealed a fairy, and the connection of the girls that were possessed by the fairies to attack Negi and those students who have made Pactio with him.
When it comes to her Pactio abilities, Nodoka's Cosplay card gives her a similar diary as the manga, yet also gives Nodoka a pair of glasses to enhance her features in this form. Her Armor ability is a more powerful set of books that determine an enemy's weakness, with being somewhat of a combination of her manga Pactio item and Yue's Pactio item in the manga. Finally, she also gains a Suka form that turns her into a seal.
Though she continues her admiration towards Negi, the feelings between her and Yue are briefly explored in this series, both as friends and romantic rivals for Negi. As an added note, her hair color is switched with Yue's with Nodoka having blue hair and Yue having purple hair. Also, her hair is bouncier; and most of the time, both of her eyes are exposed. They are only covered mostly when she looks down or in her Suka form. Also, she is shown to have the amount of self-confidence she has in later manga chapters early on in this series, especially after finding out her Cosplay card's abilities to read minds, she gleefully smiled upon discovering Chamo's rather intriguing inner thoughts, and continued to read.
As for additional character traits for Nodoka in this series, Shichimi later hangs around Nodoka after she commented on how the cat was very cute. Also, thanks to an anonymous person taking a picture of her during Mahora's School Festival, Nodoka is unknowingly the most popular "web idol" on the Internet, much to Chisame's dismay.

Later in the manga, she also able to split her artifact into smaller versions so that she can read more than one person's mind. It is possible that the Artes Liberalis books and the Kinder- und Hausmärchen book that also appears on her Pactio card, may have unique powers of their own

Negima!: Similar to her manga version

 Seal

Similar abilities to her manga version, but with a pair of glasses added as an extra artifact.

Thought Reading' Diary (sic): She has four encyclopedias hovering around her, with the books' abilities being a combination of the Diarium Ejus (the ability to read other people's minds and predict their movements in battle) and the Orbis Sensualium Pictus (the ability to look up information on, among other things, magic-related topics; Yue's Pactio item in the manga). She wears a robe and a bunny backpack in this form (similar in appearance to an outfit she wore in a manga spread).

MURAKAMI NATSUMI  村上 夏美
 student #28 of class 3-A. Birthday: 21 October 1988.

Appearances & Personality
She is a sweet yet shy girl who is an actress in the theatrical club. She loves acting but dislikes her ad-libs as well as her own appearance (underdeveloped figure, unmanageable hair, and in the manga, freckles) because her body is not very 'mature'-looking. In the manga, she also has freckles, and a complex about them as well. This is made worse by being roommates with Ayaka Yukihiro and Chizuru Naba, who both have mature bodies and bigger breasts. Kotarō, who is also staying with them, assumes the identity as her younger brother. Although the role was forced on her by Chizuru, Natsumi seems to be adapting well to the role of being an older sister. Recently however, she seems to be showing signs of jealousy regarding the girls Kotarou has been talking to after the festival (Yue and Nodoka, Kaede, Mei, and Takane). Although their difficulty expressing their feelings is the cause of many fights between Natsumi and Kotarou, it becomes apparent that they truly care for one another.

Part In The Story
Natsumi is first given focus in the Training/Wilhelm Arc, when she and her roommate Chizuru find the injured Kotarou Inugami in dog form. Kotarou attempts to hold Natsumi hostage for food and clothes, but a raging fever and Chizuru's motherly instincts force him to submit. In order to convince Ayaka to let Kotarou stay in their dorm, Chizuru pressures Natsumi into pretending Kotarou is her brother. This ruse is carried to the extent where Kotarou enters the Mahora Fighting Tournament as "Kotaro Murakami." Throughout the festival, she is often seen alongside Kotarou with her other roommates. After the festival, Natsumi's feelings for Kotarou become apparent, as she is seen spying on him, becoming jealous over the girls he's talking to. She eventually shares a sweet moment with Kotarou, who offers to carry her bags as the two walk home.
Natsumi's role in the story is greatly expanded in the Journey to the Magical World Arc. She was among the students who smuggled themselves into the magical world after Negi, which she claims was due to concern. Here, after the incident at the Gateport which scatters everyone across the magic world, Natsumi ended up seperated from the others with only Akira and Ako (who became ill with a sudden sickness). Soon after she was forced to become a slave to pay back a 1,000,000 drachma debt for the medicine needed to treat Ako. Though this was a relatively mundane arrangement compared to what might be imagined. Their new master was a pleasant if overbearing Beastwoman nicknamed "Chief", and the magical slave collars they wore ensured that any harm done to them would be recorded and sent back to the authorities - meaning they were actually far safer in many ways.
Nevertheless, if they attempted to escape or improperly remove the collars, then the collars would explode. For this reason, Negi and Kotarou entered a local tournament - using the age changing pills to appear older and disguise themselves - with the aim of earning the grand prize. She is among the girls who witness Kotarou and Negi's tag-team against Jack Rakan, and shockingly witnesses Kotarou's beast form for the first time. The prize was just enough money to buy their friend's freedom back, which they eventually obtained due to a draw and a generous donation from their opponent. Armed with the key to her collar, she was finally freed by the Hanyou himself.
She was later encouraged by Haruna and others to make a Pactio, though Haruna pointed out she need not make it with Negi and could instead perform the Pactio kiss with Kotarou instead. It was here that we see the depths of Natsumi's feelings for Kotarou, constantly belittling herself for being unsuitable for his partner when compared to the other women in Kotarou's life. Such as Mei Sakura (a powerful mage and a known admirer of Kotarou since his victory over her), Kaede Nagase (Kotarou's master who shared, in Natsumi's opinion, a bond almost like mother and child) or Chizuru Naba (whom she considered completely unwinnable again likely because of her looks and greatest bust size). All of which seemed like they would make far better partners than her. Natsumi then attempts to make a pactio with Kotarou by kissing him in his sleep, but she is interrupted by Haruna, who neglected to tell her kissing Kotarou won't make a Pactio unless Chamo is there too. Before leaving to the ball, Natsumi joins Ako and Akira in saying goodbye to "Chief", whom they have built a friendship with during their time as slaves.
At the Governor's Ball, Kotarou asks Natsumi to dance with him. This causes Natsumi much embarassment, as she feels she does not belong among the famous and high-class people present at the ball. This causes causes Natsumi to become even more confused about her feelings for Kotarou, as she has difficulties seeing him as the 10 year-old boy he really is.
When Haruna went to Kotarou to suggest the pactio idea with Natsumi, the redhead overheard him complaining about the idea, and ran away in despair. After a long chase Kotarou was eventually able to catch up to her, at which point she remembered his true age and realised his distaste in kissing her was not caused by her, but rather the fact he was not fully interested in girls yet. Or rather, was not yet ready to admit it. Natsumi questioned Kotarou how he felt about various women in his life, though he seemed to rank them more on fighting abilities (or in the case of Chizuru - who got by more than three times the highest score - simple terror) than looks or romance potential. When asked about herself, Kotarou asked if she liked him, to which she made an unconvincing red-faced denial. Faced with this, Kotarou replied that he in fact loved her - and that she was by far the most important person in his life at that moment. Armed with this new knowledge Natsumi was able to make the Pactio with him successfully. Almost immediately after this she found herself confessing her own love to him, to her own shock, before running away again. She is later seen angsting over her sudden confession, worrying over the age issue. It later turns out Kotarou did not hear her confession, and Natsumi desperately tries to keep this a secret from Kotarou.
Natsumi and Kotarou reunite with "Chief", who is impressed at Natsumi's confession, only to see her get erased in the attack from Cosmo Entelecheia. Chief's last words were apparently telling Natsumi to take care of Tosaka, but she later learns that he has been erased too. Natsumi desires to go home until she learns there is a away to bring the fallen Magic World residents back to life.
During the final battle, Natsumi is a part of group tasked with saving the kidnapped Asuna. Here, she finally reveals her artifact and its abilities, Adjutor Solitarius ("Lonely Stagehand"), which allows her team to sneak into the Ostia Ruins unnoticed. The artifact impresses Yue and Kotarou, which embarasses her. Adjutor Solitarius is successful in allowing the group to sneak past several enemies -- including Fate -- and rescue Anya. When Asuna is taken away by Fate, and Negi is rendered unconscious, the girls decide to use Natsumi's artifact to rescue Asuna and stop Fate's world-ending rewrite ceremony. While the group was able to grab both Asuna and the Great Grand Master Key, the group faced a new threat in the form of Quintum, one of three clones of Fate. Of the members of the group involved in retrieving the key and Asuna, Natsumi was the only one to neither get petrified by Fate nor get taken down by Quintum. Currently, she and Nodoka (who has recovered from the lightning attack that Quintum delivered to her) have gotten themselves captured by Fate, and their artifacts cards taken, who was able to defeat Quintum and reclaim Asuna and the Great Grand Master Key, and are at the site of the rewrite ceremony.
Natsumi has narrated the events of the manga from her point of view on two separate occasions: once in Chapter 64, and again in Chapter 196.
In the epilogue, it was stated that Natsumi had another adventure in the magical world that is larger than the one she had during summer when Kotarou ran away and never came back saying it was ninja training for him. The two eventually reunited. In 2015, the two finally became honest with their feelings and got married.

Epilogue
She, like the rest of the class, assists Negi in saving Nagi and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. Chasing after Kotarou, who ran off after saying "its´s ninja training!" and never came back, she (denying that, it was anything more then her gaduation trip) returned to the Magic World and got involved in an adventure lager then the one she had in the summer (most of which she survived by using her artifact). Once they very image of normality, she too became completly infected and quite capable, and when they met again, she punched him seven times (from a blind spot). The two who were never honest with one another finally married in 2015, receiving the generous blessing of their friends.

Abilities
Natsumi describes herself as "ordinary middle-schooler", with no unique talents or magical abilities. As a member of the drama club, it is possible Natsumi has exceptional acting abilities, but there true extent of her talent is unknown due to her low self-esteem. Over the course of the Magic World Arc, Natsumi's abilities grow significantly.

Pactio: Actrix Timida: Her Pactio was formed with Kotarou in Chapter 262, after which she confessed to liking him. Her artifact is a mask. In Chapter 301, the ability of Natsumi's artifact, which is called the Adiutor Solitarius, is finally revealed. The artifact is touted as the ultimate disguise, as it allows Natsumi to blend in with the scenery, completely undetectable to others, a reference to her wallflower personality. Akira likens it to entering an opponent's blind spot, suppressing the user's sight, smell, and noise. Because of its abilities, Chamo calls it a legendary item on par with Nodoka's Diarium Ejus. The artifact is also considered a rare one, as Fate mentioned that the last time Natsumi's artifact has appeared in the world was 280 years ago. Natsumi can also allow an unlimited number of other people to become unnoticeable with her, as long as they are joined by holding hands. If they let go, the illusion is broken.

Athletic Skill: In Chapter 262, Natsumi's stay in the Magic World has allowed to develop heightened physical abilities, allowing her to leap across far distances and even outrun Kotarou. Kotarou admits even she has "come a long way since arriving in this world."

Appearances In Other Media
In chapter 175 of the Negima! manga, Chizuru mentions that Natsumi smells Kotarou's shirts - which she denies in embarassment.

Negima!: Her Pactio allows her to disguise as a mature woman and use a magic motorcycle.

Negima!?: Natsumi's hair color is changed to green in this series. Natsumi is stuck most of this series under the shadow of her roommate Chizuru, consistently being belittled mentally by the supposedly helpful but ultimately confusing or damaging comments and actions. During the "Suka incident", she turns into a hamster. In her Cosplay form, she wears pirate armor and she is a maid who can control her broom stick.

Pactio Cards
Actrix Timida: Her Pactio was formed with an adult Kotarou, not Negi, after she confessed to liking him. Her artifact is a mask. In Chapter 301, Natsumi's artifact, called Adiutor Solitarius, is finally revealed. The artifact is touted as the ultimate disguise, as it allows Natsumi to blend in with the scenery, completely undetectable to others that are not with her. Natsumi can also allow other people to become invisible with her, as long as they are joined by holding hands. If they let go, the illusion is broken. In chapter 303 her artifact was shown to be powerful enough to hide Natsumi and those with her from even Fate. Her artifact is comparable in power to Nodoka's Diarium Ejus, and according to Fate in chapter 310, has not been seen in 280 years.

Dressed as motorcyclist from an action movie (with a blonde wig, red jumpsuit, and bigger breasts), she drives in a magic motorcycle (which makes Negi worried since she may still be underaged). Apparently, this ties in with her being part of the Drama Club.

Hamster

Dressed in pirate attire with a cutlass as her main artifact. This paction was never shown in the anime and its abilities remain unknown though it may just tie with her being part of the Drama club as well.

Hyper Haboki: A Japanese household maid with a rug beater and feather duster used for cleaning. She can use the rug beater to create several feather dusters which she can control and order to clean things automatically.

YUKIHIRO AYAKA  雪広 あやか (绫香)
A fictional character from the manga series Negima!: Magister Negi Magi, created by Ken Akamatsu. The 29th student in Japanese alphabetical order of class 2/3-A, she is the bossy, controlling president (or iincho) of class 2/3A. A rich girl born into a life of luxury, she immediately becomes obsessed with her young teacher Negi Springfield from the moment of his arrival, a fact which leads to scornful accusations about her being obsessed with little boys, but which is actually due to an early tragedy in her life. Her closest connection in class is with layabout Asuna Kagurazaka, with whom she shares a love/hate relationship.

Background & Personality
Ayaka is the class representative as she is mostly called. She is the second daughter of the Yukihiro family. More often than not, she winds up being the only thing keeping the class in order, due to Negi's inexperience with handling large groups. She is currently the 3-A class president and is among the highest scorers on school exams, where she was last seen as ranked 4th in her whole grade. Ayaka is well-versed in both Japanese and European social customs. She and Asuna seem to hate each other, with the two often getting into fights, but it eventually becomes clear that they merely have an odd, but surprisingly close friendship that neither one is willing to admit to.
Her appearance is rarely based on Layla Hamilton from Kaleido Star
As a class representative, Ayaka is charged with helping her classmates, and tries her best to understand them and their problems. Her overall success with this varies, but she was able to hold a conversation with Zazie Rainyday over the phone, despite the fact that the other didn't actually talk.
Ayaka is the girl most openly fond of Negi, though she maintains that she is interested in him only because he "needs a mother figure". A Botched Pactio Card was made, when she kissed a paper double of Negi during the trip to Kyoto. While she likes Negi, she frequently gets into arguments with Kotarou, who is also of Negi's age. Negi, in her mind, is the perfect boy (smart, polite & nice), while Kotarou is just the opposite (rude, mean, and with more street smarts than intelligence). She seems assertive in pretty much everything she does, which tends to result in her being misunderstood. She is very good, however, at hiding her own past, such as the story about her younger brother who died at childbirth, which probably partly explains her fixation on Negi, and makes her 'mother figure' assertion plausible.
Ayaka's roommates are Chizuru, Natsumi, and later Kotarō (whom Chizuru introduced to her as Natsumi's little brother), and is in the equestrian and flower-arranging clubs. Even though Ayaka is a rich man's daughter (her family owns a zaibatsu/konzern), it has not stopped her from being well-versed in several unnamed martial arts, culminating in having a "ryuha" of her own (Yukihiro Ayaka-ryū). Her affection toward Negi increases substantially after witnessing his performance during the Mahora Fighting Tournament and learning about his missing father. While on the outside, she may appear to be a typically spoiled brat she is really a warm-hearted, kind and caring person who wants to help Negi as much as she possibly can. She even helped him to get back on good terms with Asuna when the two were briefly avoiding each other. She and several of the girls in the class have vowed to aid Negi in his quest to find his father, though Ayaka has proven to be the most sincere in this case.
Though she is highly intelligent, she can often be naive and clueless in relation to the events surrounding her. Thus, many of her classmates incorrectly think of her as a fool (even if they won't say so out loud).

Synopsis
Ayaka attaches herself towards Negi from the moment he arrives in 2-A, obsessively trying to win over his favor while representing the class as their iincho. While this could be seen by many as Ayaka's courtesy for the new teacher, Asuna sees this as part of a trap by her to seduce Negi and make him her own. Throughout the first few months of Negi's stay in Japan, Ayaka attempts several times to both win Negi's favour or to have some time alone with him, including showing off her physical assets in the bath, trying to make herself become his partner, even inviting him over to her mansion for the day (without knowing Asuna and Konoka would also tag along). While consistently obsessed in making sure the class reflected well being the iincho (including in testing and in the class dodgeball game ), most of Ayaka's inspiration for battle appeared to be just as much about class pride as it was about winning Negi.
As Negi became embroiled in the many battles and magical conflicts tied with himself or other members of the class, Ayaka remained devoted towards assisting in any way possible, even if she had no idea in what she was getting into. During the conflict at Cinema Town in Kyoto, Ayaka attempted to use her own self-made martial arts style to fight against the hordes of Tsukuyomi's summoned minions before being taken out by one. Later, as she witnessed her roommate Chizuru "adopt" hanyo Kotarou Inugami, she immediately found conflict with the demon rival of Negi, yet could not help him further after being knocked out by Graf Herrman. Yet as the scenery she found herself in became weirder, Ayaka's persistent Negi chase continued to grow more daring, including an attempt to kiss him during a game in Kyoto (only to kiss a doll and get a failed Pactio)and an invitation for the two of them on her own island resort (ruined when over half the class followed along). It is also during the stay in the island resort when Ayaka's closeness with Asuna is shown. While a number of the other girls were thinking of how to help Negi gain Asuna's forgiveness after their falling out prior to the trip, Ayaka knew that Asuna had, in her heart, already forgiven him, and told Asuna as such in an effort to help them reconcile.
As the year gave way to the arrival of the Mahora Festival, Ayaka (as class iincho) suddenly found herself busy running the class for the creation and the operation of their own haunted house exhibit (and nearly driving herself crazy while doing so). In the midst of her operation, she still found time to spend with Negi, particularly during a loop of just the two of them on the first day for what she considered "the greatest day of her life".[16] By the second day, Ayaka discovers Negi in the Mahora Fighting tournament, leading her on an ambitious (and foolhardy) mission with many of the other stragglers in the class (including the sports girls, the cheerleaders and the twins) to see her beloved teacher fighting in person! Though nearly getting herself in trouble several times, Ayaka's devotion and discovery of the loss of Negi's father has made her more devoted to her teacher than ever.
After Chao succeeds in her plan to reveal magic to the world, Ayaka remains devoted to Negi. When Negi and his group returns to the third day of the Mahora Festival, she is asked to make some major changes to the big event being planned. She adamantly refuses until she's told that it's a favour for Negi, at which point she immediately acquiesces. In the initial stages, the participants are armed with magic guns and engage in combat with Chao's robots, under the pretense that it is part of a game. After accidentally being sucked into cyberspace with the activation of Chisame's Pactio, she and Makie assist in the protection of the barrier while Chisame fights against Chachamaru. After the battle ends, she disappears to celebrate with the rest of the class... only to magically reappear when she hears that Chao has a book revealing whom Negi marries.
During the start of the summer break, at Asuna's request, Ayaka returns with a folder that contained some information concerning Negi's father and his whereabouts. When she learns that Asuna will go with Negi to England, she immediately tried to get the folder back, but was unsuccessful in the attempt as Asuna demonstrates her new evasion skills. Afterwards she became involved in the Badge Collection game that Evangeline set up, in order to win the right to accompany Negi and his group to Wales. She tries for Asuna's badge but gets defeated easily after a few attempts even with her new moves, (though she does manage to score one hit on Asuna). In the end, Ayaka reluctantly accepts defeat and admits that Asuna and the others are more prepared than her to go with Negi, though she still wants a thorough explanation for when they return.
Later (chapter 178), during a trip to the beach, Ayaka announces that she, the Sports Girls, the cheerleaders, and the Narutaki Twins, will be traveling to England separately, despite protests from Asuna. Though she claims that it would merely be a personal vacation, (and any encounters with the White Wing Club would be purely coincidental), it is most likely an excuse for her to accompany Negi to Wales. With the appearance of Negi's old friend Anya, Ayaka and the rest of the girls are curious as to what kind of relationship she has with the child teacher, and the class president is especially wary of anything of a romantic nature. However, even as Negi and his group begins to set out to Wales, Ayaka finally has her own plane for the trip ready: a special jet with Negi's image painted on the side. She and the others meet up with Negi's group and are currently enjoying the hospitality of Nekane's home and touring Negi's hometown. It also appears that Ayaka is becoming fast friends with Nekane. She makes an appearance just before the White Wing Club are about to leave for the portal to the Magic World. However, she keeps her promise not to interfere or go with them, and gets assurances from Asuna to watch out for Negi. Her decision to stay behind would save her life, as Negi and his entourage were immediately attacked by Fate after entering the portal, and she would most likely have been killed had she tried to follow along since her martial arts abilities are lower than those in Negi's party. Despite not going into the Magic World, Ayaka decided to continue assisting Negi and Asuna by getting some more information concerning Negi's father while they're away, with her receiving another report on him during her time in Wales. At the same time, she recieved a phone call from Evangeline, who tells her to return to Japan with the rest of the students that are currently in Wales, as Negi will return to Mahora Academy directly.
Ayaka made a minor cameo in the magic Lantern Circus. While Negi was teaching class at the end of Summer vacation, he commented that any student who did not hand in their homework would be punished personally by him. naturally, the class president's mind wandered and her nose started to bleed. Moments later she tore up her homework and said that she "needed to be punished without delay". This earned her a punch to the back of the head from Asuna.
She appears to be the only student in Negi's class to have some idea of Negi's magical background even though his secret hadn't been revealed to her, and in the alternate futuere where Chao manages to reveal magic to the world, "I always thought there was something magic about you, sensei!"
Ayaka reappears in chapter 321 and watches Negi battle Fate with everyone else. She asks Evangeline what's really going on, and even calls her by the name Dark Evangel. Ayaka states she won't and try to force it from her. She tells everyone her instinct tells her that Negi and everyone else who disappeared are at that place that appeared above the World Tree but it's not a trivial matter. She states every classmate of class 3-A will support Negi. She uses her leadership skills to convince the masses in the city that the invasion of demons is really a surprise sequel to the popular event at the end of the Mahora Festival, and is able to coordinate a swift mass arming of civilians.
Some time later she has shown to have full knowledge of everything from magic to Negi's plan to save the magical world.
Ayaka explains Negi's plan to Chisame when she asked about it, and later reveals that she and Negi have formed a pactio. The power of her love for Negi nearly overwhelmed the pactio, almost knocking Negi out and making her the Magister of the contract.

Epilogue
She, like the rest of the class, assists Negi in saving Nagi and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. As the representative of the Yukihiro Group, she spent all ther efforts implementing Project "Blue Mars". After the establishment of the ISSDA, she continued to stay by the side of Negi and Asuna and became a major source of support. She is happy simply standing to one side behind Negi.

Abilities
Leadership Skills: As class representative of homeroom 2/3-A, Ayaka is usually seen by her classmates as the one to go to when things get out of hand. She has a commanding presence which is essential to keeping the others calm and organized, though her own obsessive affection toward Negi can lead to flights of fancy.

Purchasing Power: Ayaka's family is among the wealthiest in the world and practically any material item or information can be purchased or obtained on a whim. Such examples include any variety of herbal tea, (volume 2), information concerning Negi's father, (chapter 175), and a private jet to fly to England, (chapter 183). Her family's status is also useful for Negi and his crew as she can provide assistance in some magic-related stuff (without her knowing about the existence of magic). Examples of this include her family's company sponsor the "Mages vs. Mars" battle that Negi planned in order to get some needed reinforcements against Chao (chapter 146) and providing Asuna with the paperwork needed to form a school club, thus allowing Negi and his crew to get the funds needed to travel to Wales (chapter 169).

Athletic Abilities: Ayaka is well versed in the martial arts, (though not at the current level that Asuna had undergone), and is also trained in riding horses. Her martial arts skills, while never explicitly shown, has been suggested to be very effective (and possibly violent) if the situation calls for it (although she was shown to be using aikijujitsu in the manga). This was hinted at early in the anime, before the dodgeball game with the Black Lilies, where Negi found out that she previously gained a notorious reputation in school for violently attacking a policeman to 'buy Asuna some time', although it was never stated what Asuna needed the 'extra time' for.

Intellectual Ability: Ayaka is one of the more intelligent students in 2/3-A, frequently turning in impressive results during tests and examinations. It has often been suggested that she is one of the few students, along with Chao, Nodoka ,Kazumi,Chizuru,Konoka and Satomi, responsible for bringing up the average grades of the entire class only to have it pulled down abruptly by the much poorer grades of the rest of her classmates (especially by the Baka Rangers). She has also been shown to be very resourceful, as demonstrated by her ability to obtain the paperwork for Negi's party, including information about his father, as well as the ease of making changes to the Mahora Festival at the very last minute.

AYAKA In Other Media
Mahō Sensei Negima! (1st Anime)
Due to the accuracy of the anime to the original source, most of Ayaka's personality and obsessions remains in this rendition of the story. Her Pactio ability ends up having her throw flowers at her opponent, which ultimately do nothing (though this could be due to her innate personality and not her actual Pactio power). In one episode of the anime, it's also shown that she plays violin, however it's unknown how well she can play.

Negima!?
Ayaka retains most of her character traits from the manga as seen in this animated rendition. Her bossiness remains as high as ever, showing her take control of the class and pushing other students around until she gets her way at whatever she wants. This is shown off both as class iincho as well as the leader of the "Research Group" in the alternate Mahora Academy.Similarly in portrayal is Ayaka's love/hate feelings towards Asuna, with her commentary towards the pigtailed redhead consistently contrasting with her own and with anything Asuna pulled immediately leading to displeasure and suspicion by the class iincho. Asuna's establishment of a Chupacabra club (which ultimately becomes a magic club) forces Ayaka to question the motives both of Asuna and any other members, making her spy on her to make sure she isn't doing anything including spending more time with Negi than she wants to.In regards to Negi, her amorous, obsessive behavior remains, with her actions becoming more courteous and considerate whenever her teacher is around. Furthermore, Ayaka in this series becomes obsessed with the purchase and creation of a line of many Negi-themed merchandise by her own Yukihiro group, all of which either is sold to others or kept for herself so she would have "a little piece of Negi" around whenever he's not near her.
Unlike many previous renditions, Ayaka is particularly paired off with sports girl Makie Sasaki, finding herself rooming with her and putting up with her own actions. After merely putting up with Makie early in the series and forcing her to put up with her own Negi obsessions, she suddenly begins to belittle the pink-haired girl, punishing her for "having no drive in her life" and ultimately saying that she "fails at being Makie Sasaki". Though she would tell this in her face time and again, many scenes do show that Ayaka can and does tolerate Makie just as much as she squelches her feelings.
Prior to gaining an ability from the mass Pactio, Ayaka was infected by the second wave of Dark Seeds alongside Makie, Mana and Natsumi, where she is stopped by a combination of Negi and his three newer contracts: the twins Fuka & Fumika and Kaede.Although Ayaka gains Pactio abilities during the mass contract, she is one of the few students to have all three forms invoked, all of which during the second half of the series. Negi ends up invoking her Armor form at one point to save Asuna from a mass of dark spores, turning her into a whip-wielding female warrior.During the "Suka incident", she turns into a cheetah, primarily seen as the mother of a "family" including "child" Makie and "father" Motsu. Finally, during the "Final Pactio invocation", she reveals her Cosplay form: a perfumer who can trace things by their scents, essential in use after Negi receives a black rose with the scent of his father Nagi Springfield still on it.
Promotional materials and the ending sequence show Ayaka playing the flute as her instrument of choice. But like the violin in the first series, it is not known how well she plays it. Also, while she is an able equestrian, as shown in the first series, she is also adept at other sports, particularly volleyball. This is shown when she carelessly uses her spiking ability to drive a literally red-hot Star Crystal into a column and later tells Asuna that her athletic abilities have become "sharper than ever before" during that moment.

Pactio Cards
Burgenesis Florens: It is revealed in Chapter 340 that Ayaka made a Pactio with Negi, resulting in a very long and passionate kiss that nearly knocked Negi out (and also nearly made Negi the Ministra). Her artifact allows her and anyone else to meet with anyone of importance without prior arrangement, proper credentials, or connections. As Ayaka put it, they could meet the Pope or Prime Minister of Japan whenever they wanted to with it. Fate commented that it was one of the rarest artifacts he had ever seen and Kotaro added that it would allow Ayaka to kidnap or assassinate any VIP.

Negima!: A formal dress with flowers. When she throws the petals at the demons, they have no effect. Then again, since flowers always seem to appear around her when Negi is concerned, (with or without a Pactio), this could just be part of her usual personality and not her real power.

Cheetah

Changed into a perfumer, she wears a classy dress with several cartridges of spray attached to a holster. Her ability allows her to immediately locate whomever's scent she finds on an object.

Preconscious Whip: Dressed with a leather corset and skirt and wearing a tiara, she wields a whip.

YOTSUBA SATSUKI  四葉 五月
Student Number 30. Birthday: 12 May 1988.
The gentle cook of the class. She enjoys cooking and so is in the cooking club. She also works at Chao Bao Zi, a restaurant operated out of a streetcar that sells meat buns and other foods with Chao, Hakase, Ku, and Chachamaru. She is also the school dining officer. A very nice and hard-working person, Satsuki is liked by everyone in Mahora, even Evangeline has some respect for her (who sees the rest of the class as a pack of air-headed beasts, noting how Satsuki holds a more 'realistic' outlook on life). Her very presence creates an atmosphere of serenity, and she can quickly put a stop to fights even between the hot-headed students in the High School and University martial arts clubs. Satsuki's dream is to have her own restaurant, as she likes making people happy through her food. Satsuki has a unique way of speaking that is shown in the manga by depicting her words without a speech bubble. Satsuki seems to be privvy to the details of Chao's true identity, and presumably the existence of magic, as she had helped Takamichi, and later Misora and Cocone escape from Chao's underground complex, and even pilots the Chao Bao Zi car, which is capable of flight, to rescue Negi and Chao at the end of their battle. The manga and anime also tend to associate her with Koalas.

Epilogue
She, like the rest of the class, assists Negi in saving Nagi and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. After studying in france and china, she returned to Mahora and managed Choa Boa Zi. With the rapid growth of Mahora, her buisness alos expanded when the elevator opened to the public. She took the chance to open branches in orbit. Afterwards, it became the first interstellar restaurant chain in history. Her flagship restaurant is still visited by her old classmates.

Abilities
Cooking Proficiency: Satsuki loves cooking and is therefore, praised for her mastery. As such, she is a member of the Mahora Cooking Club, the school's dining officer, and works in Chao's mobile restaurant. She is even respected by Evanfgeline, and is known among the students of Mahora for her cooking expertise. The food she prepares garnered enough money for to budget Chao's plan. In Negima!?, she has slight prominence as leader of the Lifestyle Group

Mobile Pilot: Satsuki has demonstrated to pilot the Chao Bao zi car to be able to save Chao and Negi at the end of thier battle.

Pactio Cards
Coqua Fabulosa: None, as of now. Though according the picture, her artifact will be magical wok called Magic Iron Pot.

The entire Chao Bao Zi stall she works at in the manga is her artifact, which enables her to feed dozens of demons at a time until they disappear.

Squirrel (in the card itself, she holds a cookie)

Dressed like a china doll, she sits in a giant ladle with a salt shaker in one hand and the ladle's handle in another. Her hat has a koala head on it (a reference to a bit in the manga in which a koala appears in the background when she tells a group of customers at Chao's restaurant to stop fighting). The giant ladle is also used as an artifact.

Two Sacred Treasures: Dressed completely in an orange chef's outfit reminiscent of those of the Iron Chefs, particularly of Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi. She holds a cleaver on one hand and a stick-handled wok on the other.

ZAZIE RAINYDAY ザジ・レイニーデイ
Student Number 31: Zazie Rainyday AKA The Silent Acrobat.
One of the most mysterious girls of the class, not much is known about Zazie except a few simple facts. Recently, it has been revealed that she has an elder sister, Poyo, and that both belonging to the Royal Family of the Demon Folk, with Poyo as crown princess.

Name
When Zazie's name is seen it is written in the Latin alphabet, rather than in Japanese. Similarly, Evangeline's name is also written with the Roman alphabet. This seems to indicate that, like Evangeline, Zazie isn't from Japan and is instead from a country which uses the Roman alphabet. This is backed up by the fact that Chisame referred to her as a transfer student . Her name is most closely related to the word "zany" meaning clownish or whimsical.

Characterization
As mentioned before (this is important), not much information is given about Zazie. She communicates with other characters very little, and speaks even less. She is somehow able to hold a telephone conversation with Ayaka without saying a word.
According to Negi's Class Register, Zazie is a member of the school's Magic Club. She performs as an acrobat in the "Nightmare Circus" at Mahora Academy, which is listed as a non-school activity. She also has been shown to see Sayo without the assistance of Negi or holding a closeness towards her like Kazumi.

Story Plot
During and after MahoraFest, she is often seen in the company of black shadowy phantoms with white mask-like faces (that occasionally want to eat people (and even ghosts like Sayo)), and gave Chao a tiny dragon as a farewell present.
At the summit of the Magical World Arc, are Negi and his troupe breaking into the Gravekeepers Palace (AKA Fates hideout). However upon entry, they appear to be greeted by Zazie herself, dressed in her Mahora uniform, who appears to have her fingers developing small points, perhaps priming her claws. She then displays a very high level of magical power by subduing Mana, Kaede and Setsuna, and offers the group a chance to return that very instant to Mahora, stating that Negi's actions will help the cause the future Chao Lingshen sought to prevent. Upon Negi's refusal of her offer, "Zazie" reveals her pactio card and artifact Magic Lantern Circus, which enables her to transport Negi as well as all of his allies into the Eternal Garden, manifested for Negi as his first year of teaching class 3A in which both his parents are not missing and only faint memories of the real world remain. During Negi's 'dream' of reality, a representation of the actual Zazie Rainyday (The Zazie that appeared in the Magic World is actually her sister Poyo), still present at Mahora, somehow watches as he moves through a single day of his own version of paradise. Negi manages to gather the will to begin to question the reality he finds himself in, and confronts Zazie, who is still present and watching him. She claims the illusion he finds himself in, while not the actual Cosmo Entelecheia, is "so close to the real thing as to be indistinguishable." Zazie states that the illusion presents not so much a 'convenient dreamworld', but rather a 'happy reality that could have been', or the happiest possible world for each individual 'trapped' within. Taking a side that is neither completely for nor against helping Negi to complete his goals, she explains to Negi the nature of the world around him, including how to leave it, while still questioning whether leaving that world, his ideal world, is what Negi really wants to do. When he remains firm in his resolve Zazie bids him farewell, warning him to be careful when facing her elder sister Poyo, who was responsible for the original attack in Gravekeepers Palace (and sealing Ala Alba (White Wing, Negi's group) away with Magic Lantern Circus; Zazie's sister's artifact), as well as telling him she will be waiting for him in Mahora, with Ayaka and all the other students who are still in the Old World.
After Negi states that he has a solution to halting the deterioration of the magical world, Poyo reveals her true form: that of a high member of the demonfolk clan. She grows two sets of horns from her head and a giant demonic silhouette that is capable of firing powerful beams of energy. Mana and Keade manage to block her attack right before the gravity mines (provided by Chao) the sniper planted activated and smashed the high demon through the floor. Mana dives after her, knowing that Negi needs to conserve his strength. As the two plunge, Mana reveals her own trump card: Time dilation bullets and her own half demonfolk blood (that is the source of her abilities.)
When Chisame realized that she didn't have enough power to awaken Asuna, Zazie appeared and summoned the rest of her classmates, promising Chisame that she'd protect them for the time being. Negi's class tried after war to find out who Negi really likes. To Negi's surprise, Zazie practiced in it too, while commentating and smiling: "This is my serious mode, Sensei. I owe very much to everyone after what happened. After all, even I should help out my class once in a while."

Epilogue
She, like the rest of the class, assists Negi in saving Nagi and defeating the Mage of the Beginning. She is a guardian. She was immensely satisfied with the labor of the boy and his comrades and sent generous praise. Her appearing before them as an goodwill ambassador would be a story much further in the future.

Abilities
Acrobatic Skills- Zazie is a member of the Mahora Academy's Acrobatic Club, the Nightmare Circus. In the anime, she is shown to have proficiency in all kinds of circus tricks such as juggling, sleight of hand and costume changing.

Magic Power- According to Negi's class register, Zazie is a member of the school's Magic Club. Zazie states towards Negi that her Powers are compare able to those of her older Sister, making her with this as one of the most powerful beings in the serie. She is also seen directing a group of "monsters" and "spirits" (similar to No-Face in Spirited Away). She is also one of the initial characters capable of seeing Sayo Aisaka. Her interaction with Ayaka could be due teleparthy.

Pactio - It seems that Zazie has a unrevealed Patcio. Futher is she able to interact with the Pactio of her older sister Poyo, Magic Lantern Circus. How she is able to do it, or if her own Pactio is may related to that abibilty is to date unknown.

Appearances In Other Media
Negima!: After gaining her Pactio, she gets a set of magical slicing cards. Also, in her costume her facepaint colour changes to that of her appearance in Negima!? She also gets in her only line of the series in the final episode, as well as her only ever time she smiled (she also speaks lines for the final preview of the series, but that is outside continuity).

Negima!?: Although usually quiet and seen juggling around items in this series, Zazie does speak more often, primarily in small conversations with roommate Mana, which primarily involve her making very bad puns and being scored on them by Mana or whoever else is present. Also, when she is accidentally captured in a trap intended to catch the Black Rose Baron, Asuna refers to her as a foreigner (just like the accusation in the manga). During the "Suka incident", she turns into a squid (which is also her card representation during the final battle, while all the other girls are represented by Armor cards). As an added note, unlike events in the manga, she does not see nor sense Sayo until the mass pactio, only sensing her in one scene when she sees her costume seemingly move by its own (Sayo is actually wearing it).Furthermore, the teardrop mark on her face is painted blue (similar to a water droplet) instead of brown.

Pactio Cards
Primaria In Diabolimundo: None known, as of now. However, she has been shown to have the ability to enter, move about, and manipulate (to a certain extent) the illusions created by her sister's artifact, in spite of the fact that she is physically supposed to be in Mahora at the time. How true this statement is, remains to be seen. She also helps explain to Negi many of the intricacies of her sister's artifact's illusionary world, indicating a certain familiarity with it. Also, according the the picture her artifact (if she makes a pactio with Negi) will be called Devil Pierrot. 'Pierrot' being French for clown.

Zazie wears an acrobat bikini topped with a joker's hat. Her weapons are magical cards that can slice up demons.

Squid

Dressed as a fairy-like sky dancer performer with four juggling clubs as her main artifacts. When she uses her acrobatic ability, sparks fly around her.

4-D Silk Hat: A masked magician dressed in a tuxedo with a cape. Her weapon is a cane and a magical hat.

HistoryEdit
The Foundation
The original name (and cover story) of the Ala Alba was the "British Culture Research Club". They also called it "Negima Club (temporary)". When Asuna, together with Konoka and Setsuna asked permission from the headmaster, he was suspicious, stating that "It doesn't look like British culture would be the only thing researched on". However, he still approved it. Later on, they had a meeting on the roof terrace on one of the school buildings, which got overheard by the Narutaki twins, who quickly withdrew to tell Iincho. They had however been noticed by Evangeline, who merely slyly grinned.

Quest of Membership
A few hours later, Asuna met up with Ayaka to receive the info about The Thousand Master she had asked for. He had indeed gone missing ten years ago - in Istanbul, not in the Magic World as Asuna first had thought. Ayaka then breifly lapsed into one of her many Negi-induced crazes. All of a sudden Makie and the Narutaki twins come rushing in yelling at Asuna. After a brief explanation to Ayaka (with a lot of misconceptions involved), a (rather weak) defence from Asuna and a futile attempt by Ayaka to take back the folder with info from Asuna, she ordered the trio to apprehend the "Vile Woman". Makie tried to trap Asuna with her ribbon, but Asuna easily escaped with Shundō, landing behind her. They all tried to jump at her, but she easily avoided capture. Asuna apologized to the dazzled foursome and escaped.
That's when Evangeline made her move. She explained to her classmates that it was true that you couln't follow on the lodging trip without that special training, but she wanted to give them a chance to try themselves out too. Just then, Yuna Akashi, Akira Okochi and Ako Izumi walked into the room, wondering what all the commotion was for. Evangeline shows them a small badge, shaped like a wing, and explains that if they can retrieve one of these badges by force from one of the members that are currently headed to the summer festival, they will be accepted as new members. Together with Makie, Yuna's group set out to find their targets. Yuna spotted that Kū indeed had the white badge, but she soon realized that she would be a little out of her league. They then thought of Konoka, but also remembered Setsuna guarding her. Just then, Nodoka and Yue appeared down the street. Meanwhile, Chachamaru had just finished with her task of giving out the badges, informing Asuna, Konoka and Setsuna that Evangeline had changed the club's name to "Ala Alba". Konoka initially thought the badges were cute, but quickly changed opinion to Scary as she found out that if the badge is lost, so is your membership in the club.

After stalking Nodoka and Yue around for some time, Yuna moved in. Donning a guise as a "Badge hermit" (With a bear mask) she went up and asked for their badges. However, Yue instantly saw through her disguise, as Yuna's trademark ponytail was rather visible on the side of the mask. Makie subdued Yuna and (together with Ako) tried themselves to procure the badges. Yue then grew suspicious about what was going on, and openly asked Yuna to explain all of it. Yuna simply commanded her accomplices to seize their prey. As she got ready to procure the prize, Yue showed how far she had come in her studies of magic, blinding their adversaries with a burst of light from her wand. She then grabbed an also blinded Nodoka by the hand and ran for it. Having kept a few of the guns used in the closing event of the Mahora Festival, Yuna fired upon the fleeing pair, as Makie threw her ribbon. Yue again showed profience and used Limes Ariales to make both projectiles harmlessly bounce off. She then used a wind spell to distract the group as she fled with Nodoka in tow. She then explained to her friend what was going on (she correctly deduced that Evangeline had rigged the whole thing as a final test of sorts). She then asked Nodoka to use her artifact so that they could evade their pursuers. Elsewhere, Kaede was touring the festival with the Narutaki twins, unaware of the "danger" she's in. The twins try to grab her badge, but Kaede uses shundō[1] to escape. After a battle between Asuna and Ayaka is the outcome decided in which Asuna won highly against her fellow classmate. After the fatal lose decided Ajaka that she just "goes by plane" after them.

Arriving of the Childhood Friend
Soon after Ayaka announced her plan the Negis class mets Negis classmate and childhood friend, Anastasia 'Anya' Yurievna Cocolova. Anya states immidetly that she is disappointed and angry at Negi, that he didnt come home immidetly as the holidays started. Haruna pointed out, as they spyed on the talk between Anya and Negi, that their teacher has a wall arround his heart when it comes to the Class 3-A inform of the "informal speech". This statment leads once again to a chaotic night.
Ala Alba then mets up once again at Evengline resort, where Anya cant believe her eyes and calls them a group of "super humans". Yue explains that it comes all from their teacher. Anya asked disbelieving who would that teacher be while Yue answeres with dreadful voice, Evangeline A.K. McDowell. Even more disbelieven asked Anya again while Yue counted the nicknames which Evangeline carries as the person in question self appeared, in her adult form, and asked "What shall i do with you, Anya Cocolova?", freaking the young girl even more out. Nodoka and Yue finally calmed Anya and explained to her that Evangeline got sealed onto the Mahora complex and cant use magic to that degree even more as she used to be. Angry about the fact, that Nagi is always ahead of her get the young girl even more frustared, while Yue and Nadoka decided not to lie to her anymore. With a "Goodbye" rushed then Anya towards the exit of the resort, leaving Kotarou and Negi confussed in the corridor. Negi finally catched up with Anya but resives immidetly a hit from the girl with the question, if Negi forgot about that what happened to their village. Negi calms Anya down by explaining why and for what he trains for. After long discussion decides Anya that she will join Negis group and with that the travel to the Magical World.

Last Preparations
After a few weeks of more training in Evangelins resort is the group finally ready to leave for the Magical World. Evangline tests a last time the skills of Asuma while Chisame self talked with Negi alone. Chisame asked Negi if it is realy such important to him to go such far, only to find his father. With a deep serious answer ends the converstion between the two and the group gets ready to leave. Waiting at the airport for their flight, the group noticed that Chisame is missing. They are unsure if she would come and join, by knowing her disliking of the things. For everyone suprise appears Chisame short before the plane leaves the port, by making with Negi a promise, that he will come whenever she would be in trouble.
Ala Alba finally arrives London to meet up with Donet McGuiness, who will lead the group to the Magical World. But Donet isnt the only person they met. They run aswell in Ayaka and her group, who followed them. With the new constinlation the group sets off to Wales where the met finally Negis sister.

Negi then shows everyone arround and recalls past memories. As he and the rest of Ala Alba gather their things and sneak off later that night they head towards to gate port and are being guided by Donet Mcguiness. And secretly followed by Yuna, Makie, Akira, Ako, and Natsumi. As they get closer to the gate port both negi and setsuna sense something faintly but can't come to what it is that they may or may not be sensing and dismiss it. Negi asks donet what are the chances of them being followed but she deems it impossible. Unknown to negi and setsuna what they are sense just barely is the presense of Fate and his comrades who are also heading to the magical world.

Arriving in the Magical World
Ala Alba enters through the gate port and finally arrive within the magical world. Amazed at the world that they are now (with the slight expection of chisame) in and split up to view the magical world why negi takes care of the rest of the procedures. Negi and setsuna still faintly sense something but can recall what even though they note that it feels fimilar. Donet arrives and alerts negi that a few of his students have followed them. As negi and setsuna see Yuna, Ako, Maike, Akira and Natsumi and look at them shocked as they asked what's going on. Negi is finally able to comfirm what he has been sensing, Fate Averruncus and quickly alerts the sequirty at the gate port and commands them on what to do, but Fate quickly sends a stone spear at Negi resulting in a fatal wound. The Members of Ala Alba quickly rushed into Negi, and Setsuna told them to bring Konoka there, but Konoka told her that she gave her Pactio card to her. Setsuna then realized that all their weapons are inside the box. and Konoka told them that she can't heal Negi after 3 minutes. The Guardsman told them that reinforcements will come, but them he was strucked bt lightning. Fate then greeted the members and insulted Negi to be in such a state after just one attack. Setsuna, Kaede and Kotarou fought them, but was quickly defeated. Asuna then asked Fate if he were following them, but Fate told her that it was a complete coincidence and that their academy has extreme care in supervising their safety and information, and that even he didn't know that they were coming, then told them that their objective is unrelated to them, and now that they have been noticed, he won't allow any back-ups to come and that no one will save them. Fate told Negi that his comrades are garbage to him and he cannot find any reason to erase them, but he doesn't have a reason not to, he suggests using Eternal Petrification to have them exit from the stage and said that he will start with Setsuna. Negi punched his face before he can cast the spell and told Fate that he will not allow him to hurt his comrades. Fate told him that he'll die and what can he do without his staff and weapons. But Asuna was able to break the box, thanks to her magic-cancelling abilities. Asuna and Konoka quickly activated their artifacts, and Asuna ordered Konoka to heal Negi, and Ku Fei to cover her. But Fate appeared and attacked Konoka, but was blocked by Setsuna in her true from, she told Fate that she will not allow him to hurt Konoka and activated her artifact Sica Shishikushiro, Setsuna managed to get the advantage and sliced Fate, but was an illusion and was about to attack her from behind, but was saved by Ku. Meanwhile, Asuna was attacked by Dynamis and Tsukuyomi but was saved by Kotarou. Asuna asked if Kotarou was injured, and he replied it was bad, then asked about Negi's condition. Kaede attacked Fate and said that thet totally got her. Konoka was able to heal Negi and told him it's alright. As Ala Alba prepared for their counter-attack, Fate takes back calling them garbage and that it was fun and he'll be serious next time. Negi asked who he is, but Fate told him that time is up. Negi asked Fate on what their plan and that he will stop them, but tFate punched him in the face and told Negi that he can't do anything is his state, and told him it's late, and they've accomplished their objective and the activates the spell Stone Pillar of Hades. Negi protected Makie and the others who have followed from a falling pillar, and apologized for involving them. Asuna destroyed another pillar that was about to fall on Yuuna. Because of the damage, the gate will activate "Forced Transmission" that will scatter the group throughout Mundus Magicus. Fate then told Negi that their reality after this will be his gift to him. Chamo realized that Forced Transmission is activated and the gate between the two worlds has been. Negi told all of them to hold hand as a giant explosion took place. Asuna tried to grab Negi's hand but was unable to. Thus beginning the nightmare of Ala Alba.

The Splitting
Negi then had a nightmare about his friends being turned into stone by Fate. Fate then told him that even though he's weak, he still involved unrelated people, and didn't just stayed and be happy in his school, and asked him to why did he come to Mundus Magicus, simultanoesly destroying Asuna's statue.
After that, Negi awoke in a jungle with a towel on his forehead, and wondered why he is in such a place. He noticed Chachamaru bathing, and she quickly noticed him and ran into him. Chachamaru asked if Negi is okay and he still shouldn't get up and told him that he has a fever after feeling his forehead. Negi, embarrased, asked her to put on some clothes, and she asked why, which made Negi flustered. Chachamaru told him that he should worry about himself, and even though a Complete Recovery was casted on him, he should still rest. Negi then remembered the incident in the Gateport, and tried to summon his partners but was unable to, he tried telepathy but still no response. Chachamaru explained that the area has a lot of Jamming Rocks in the area. And the range is only 5-10 kilometers, and it's impossible to summon any further than that. Negi quickly run off but Chachamaru told him to stop moving, or atleast let her wipe of his sweat. Negi told Chachamaru that if they can get over the crage, they'll be above tree-line. After reaching the top, they could only see jungle up to the horizon. Negi asked Chachamaru on how far they were sent and how were they separated with the others. Chachamaru explained that the area is Tropical, and Megalomesembria was in a temperate area, and about 1000 kilometers. She further explained the the badge Evangeline gave them has the ability to detect others because it's a fusion of magic and science. Chachamaru then identified the locations of other the other badges, but she cannot detect some, then concluded that some of the other's badges are not within the 900km range. Negi realized that this was Fate's gift to him. Chachamaru told Negi that he will get out the world map, and told him the search was about 1/3 of Earth, but Mundus Magicus was still large, and in order for them to return to Mahora Academy safely they must find all of their missing comrades.

Negi and Chachamaru
Chachamaru remembers her talk with her master, and she discovers Chachamaru's crush on Negi, and Eva told her protect Negi, though she added that she'll protect him anyways.

Negi then talked to her, which snapped her, and told her that he figured out were they are. While Chachamaru said she had failed, and they have fallen into a troublesome situation. They discussed about their current location and that they are about 10,000km from Megalomesembria. While discussing, a wild flying dragon flew by, and Chachamaru stated that this is no ordinary jungle, and that moving tonight will be dangerous. By morning, Negi and Chachamaru searching the jungle. And at the beach, Negi commented that the Magics World's sky and lakes are beautiful and said if they weren't in such a situation, they would have camp here. Chachamaru said they should camp and rest, but Negi disagrees, Chachamaru said that he shouldn't be impatient. Negi agrees, but only for 15 minutes. And then, a Wild Tiger Dragon appeared, Negi tried to fight it, but was too tired to. Chachamaru takes over, and told the creature that she won't forgive it if it hurts Negi, then began battling the beast. After a while, Negi woke up in Chachamaru's lap, and asked her about the monster, Chachamaru was able to drove it off but broke down because of enerygy loss. And told Negi that someone has to wind her everyday, though Chachamaru doesn't want to, Negi insisted that he let her wind her, and she told her she would "screw" her until she's feeling good. After wind-up, she ask's in her mind if this is alright. Negi then thanked Chachamaru, that things would have been serious without her, and told her that he's just a child that couldn't do anything. Chachamaru walks up to Negi and held his hand and told him it's alright and that they will find their comrades without fail. Negi then told her that starting tomorrow he will always wind her up.

Chisame Hasegawa
Chisame, who was writing a post about being abducted in and now ended up in a jungle, and even post pictures of it. Then one of her sprites told her that electronic magtenic waves won't reach in the other world. She reply that she knows that, but she would go insane if she doesn't do that. She then recalls the incident at the Gateport, that Chachamaru saved Negi while she(Chachamaru) accidently releases her, and apologizes to her and that she will save her. The sprites then told her that the nearest Human Habitation is about 310km, and that now is a good time to rest. At morning, after 8 hours of walking, she was agitated that she found out that she only walked for about 16km. And she regrets coming to the Magic World, and Negi was unable to protect her, even though he promised. The sprites then loses power, and cannot maintain their existence in the outside world without electronic devices. Konya negi created a line which is the direction of the town, but Chisame said that she can't use it. As night comes, Chisame told to herself that she will tease Negi when she saw him again, but then, an Octopus appears which captured her, and burns her clothes, Chisame said that on top of her life being in danger, she in danger of perversion, as she soon realizes that if she would die and nobody will know, and said that's too harsh. Not wanting to die yet, She calls Negi to save her and, fortunately, Negi and Chachamaru appeared and was able to drive off the Octopus, she cried, and started hitting Negi and said he was late. After calming down, she asked Chachamaru if they made out during the time they were alone, which made Chachamaru blush.

Negi, Chachamaru, Chisame and Kotarou
After Negi and Chachamaru saved Chisame, she abruptly accuses Negi because of the incident. Negi, feeling responsible and guilty, fainted due to his fever. Chachamaru identified Negi's fever to be 40.6 degrees. Chisame and Chachamaru both took care of Negi, changing his clothes, wiping his sweat, etc. Chachamaru later felt sad because she feels that she can't do anything for Negi, then a voice called out to her.

When Chisame was about to wipe Negi his sweat, he suddenly woke up. Negi apologizes because of the incident, but Chisame also apologized, and said that she was too hard on him. But Negi, who was training very hard to prepare for Fate still felt responsible and wanted power, and they must save the nearest member. Kotarou suddenly appears and was revealed to be the the member closest to them. He then taunts Negi and they fought afterwards. After the fight, Negi realizes that his fever is gone. Kotarou explained that Konaka's magic powe were to great, and because of that, caused the fever. And the only option was to release the magic power. Kotarou also told Negi something that Asuna has and that he doesn't, which is Idiocy.

Izumi Ako, Oukichi Akira and Natsumi Murakami
It is revealed that these three ended up in the dessert after the incident, and Ako became ill, but a person paid 1,000,000 drachma for an elixir which can cure Ako, in exchange that the three of them became their slaves.

Kazumi Asakura and Sayo Aisaka
These two appeared as Negi and Co. was going to take The Three Slaves by force, and was the member that lost her Ala Alba badge.
