Negima!? Cosmo Entelecheia / Istanbul Magic Association and Associates

COSMO ENTELECHEIA
'' Puppets cannot oppose or defy the puppet-master '' ... Cosmo Entelecheia's motto

A secret society which serves as the primary threat faced by the protagonists of the manga Negima! Magister Negi Magi. Originally an immense organization created by the ominous Mage of the Beginning, it was almost wiped out twenty years before the start of the series by the Ala Rubra, (Red Wing) a team of extremely powerful mages led by the legendary Thousand Master Nagi Springfield, at the end of the Great Mage War that it ignited. However several surviving members led by the series' primary antagonist Fate Averruncus attempt once again to enact their goal; to erase the Mundus Magicus (the Magical World). In the end, they were defeated by the Ala Alba, the remaining members of the Ala Rubra, and reinforcements from Mahora such as Konoemon Konoe and Evangeline.

Background

Cosmo Entelecheia was created on the Mundus Magicus, an alternate dimension populated by mages, magical hybrids and mythological creatures, whose base in the real universe is the planet Mars. Its founder and leader is known as the Life-Maker or the Mage of the Beginning.
Twenty years before the start of the series the secret society infiltrated the spheres of influence of Megalomesembria and the Hellas Empire, the two major political forces of the Mundus Magicus, as well as those of the magical kingdom of Vespertatia, said to be the origin of this world.

Then, they manipulated these countries to orchestrate the gruesome global conflict remembered as the Great Mage War. They intended to use it as a cover to kidnap Asuna the "Princess of Twilight," princess of Vespertatia, and use her power to cancel magic to erase the entire Mundus Magicus.

It was ultimately revealed that the Mundus Magicus was created through magic and that it is doomed to collapse sooner or later. This would erase the magical creatures (whose existence depends on the magic that sustains their world) from existence and cast the human population on the actual planet Mars where life is not possible. This is the reason why Cosmo Entelecheia tries to erase it and relocate its population into the actual "Cosmo Entelecheia" an edenic alternate reality where everyone is living the happiest possible scenario of their lives. However, the secret society acted in a really sinister way, causing the death of countless of the people that they intend to "save."

Eventually, Arika the first princess of Vespertatia and Theodora the third princess of the Hellas Empire managed to recruit the Ala Rubra to end the war. They discovered proofs of the secret society's plot, but only to be labelled as traitors by Primum, who killed and impersonated one of their allies in the senate of Megalomesembria. The Ala Rubra then led their own war against Cosmo Entelecheia and ultimately stormed into the secret society's gloomy hideout, the Gravekeeper's Palace.

All the society's generals were defeated by the Ala Rubra, Nagi Springfield dealing with Primum himself. As everything seemed finished, the Mage of the Beginning personally entered the fray, blasting away the entire Ala Rubra in a tremendous onslaught of magic. Nagi refused to give up in spite of the gap in power, and aided by his master Filius Zect, he succesfully defeated the Life Maker. Yet, this wasn't enough to cancel the ritual to rewrite the Mundus Magicus, which was eventually contained and cancelled by the entire float of warships from every country and the sacrifice of most of Ostia.

After the war, troubles remained, the sacrifice and destruction of the Vespertatia's capital Ostia, which was entirely built on islands floating in the sky, making most of the islands fall to the ground, cause the Megalomesembria Senate to use Arika as a spacegoat and sentenced her to death. The members of Ala Rubra rescued Arika on the day of her execution, after two years of imprisonment, and took her and Asuna away from the political intrigues of the Mundus Magicus back to the Old World, and dedicated the two following decades to tracking down the remaining members of Cosmo Entelecheia with the help of every magical nation. Because of this, the sole surviving members decided to play dead and disappear, waiting for the day they would be able to enact their late lord's plan at last.

THE MAGE OF THE BEGINNING
'' One day you will come to realise that the "Eternity" of which I speak is the only compromise capable of saving all souls!" ... the Mage of the Beginning to Nagi Springfield

The supreme leader of Cosmo Entelecheia back in the time of the Great Mage War, the Life-Maker, also known as the Mage of the Beginning is a very tall man clad in black robes and cloaks, whose face is concealed by his hood most of the time. Nothing is known about his origins, his true purpose and even his real name. Apparently, he created the Mundus Magicus himself. It is said that he had a daughter named Amateru who started the oldest royal family, the line of Ostia, who were the royalty of Vespertatia and that they inherited from her the Royal Magic of which nothing is known, save from that it is the alleged source of Asuna's("The Princess of Twilight") ability to cancel magic.

The Mage of the Beginning is assumed by some to be of divine origin, which could explain his unfathomable level of power; even higher than Nagi Springfield's and Jack Rakan's, who are the most powerful members among the already incredibly powerful Ala Rubra. He also seems linked to Nagi's master Filius Zect: an equally mysterious character who vanished into dust shortly after the Life-Maker's defeat, and claimed to have lived "2600 years of torment", just like the Life Maker also claimed to have lived 2600 years shortly before his defeat.
The Mage of the Beginning is seemingly able to warp reality, an ability channeled into magical key-shaped staffs called the Code of the Life-Maker, which are in possession of his highest-ranking followers. The Mage of the Beginning seems to be able to modify humans and turn them into Shinso vampires like he did to Evangeline many centuries ago. He also apparently wields power over the elements, the source of every attack spell displayed in the series, as every Averruncus was granted control over one of said elements. He can created a multilayered magical defensive barrier, formed of a Mandala-like formation of pentagrams, which he seems to have taught to all his highest-ranking followers and was seen fighting by hurling dark beams or tremendous onslaughts of magical energy, and by creating an immense array of pentagrams which generates a devastating tempest of dark energy.

Finally, he can create life, as he is implied to have created all the living beings in Mundus Magicus and he also created the Averruncus series which Quintum claimed were the "Guardians of the World, granted with a vast amount of magic and combat strength from the Life Maker".
Contrary to what everyone believes, the Mage of the Beginning survived his defeat during the Great Mage War. His second identity is the former member of the Ala Rubra, Filius Zect. However, he was murdered 600 years ago at the hands of Evangeline (and every other attempt on his life). It was later revealed that he was not dead but sealed in a magical slumber below the roots of the Magical World Tree in Mahora Academy.

He was revived by Dynamis after Negi and Fate's battle reached its conclusion.

However, the Mage of the Beginning is now defeated by the combined strength of Negi and Asuna and his identity was suprisingly none other than Nagi Springfield.

FATE AVERRUNCUS
フェイト・アーウェルンクス
''If you try to save everything, you will merely end up losing everything'' to Negi ...

A mysterious and extremely powerful child mage, who is the first and foremost rival to Negi Springfield. He first appears during the Kyoto School-trip Arc, as a mercenary, but his goal and identity remained unknown. Fate later reappears as the primary antagonist in the Mundus Magicus Arc; where his past and his objectives are unveiled little by little. He looks human but he is in fact a construct, more akin to a magical homunculus. He describes himself as a "mere doll".
As of the start of Return To Old World Arc, Fate is now one of Negi's allies and a teacher at Mahora.

Background

Eight years after the war and Primum's death Filius Zect woke Tertium up and put him under the command of Secundum so that he could continue Cosmo Entelecheia's mission of saving Mundus Magicus. After working with Secundum, Septendecim and Nii for a while they finally ran into Nagi. Tertium asked him why they kept fighting when it was useless and Nagi answered that they hadn't given up on humanity, like Tertium and his team had. After the fight, which Cosmo Entelecheia lost, they returned to their base where Secundum started complaining about his loss. This prompted Tertium to ask him why he was so enthusiastic, since they were created from the same base model and he (Tertium) found it strange, causing Secundum to tell him that was normal to put all of your heart and blood into their mission and that he should get their master to recalibrate him since his lack of enthusiasm was an apparent defect.
While flying and thinking about Cosmo Entelecheia's mission Tertium's core started to fail and he fell from the sky. When he woke up, he was lying on a bed and was greeted by a young Shiori and her older sister. It took him three days to recover, during which he discovers that he loves Shiori/Luna's sister's coffee
Fate's first coffee. Upon leaving, he promises to return one day and return the favor, at which Tertium is promised more of the coffee he loves. Tertium inquires of Zect regarding his malfunction and learns that he had never been programmed with purpose or even loyalty to the cause (on purpose), thus the reason for his malfunction.
When Tertium returned sometime later, he finds that Shiori/Luna's village had been attacked and that she and her older sister had been injured and possibly raped. Secundum rewrites Shiori's sister with the Code of the Lifemaker and is about to erase Shiori when Tertium beheads him. Secundum says that what he did to Shiori's sister is the fate of all their kind and Tertium promises to continue the mission but laments not being able to drink Shiori's sister's coffee any more.

Personality
''I am quite aware of the morality and the significance of my actions."

Fate Averruncus appears to be calm and collected but he is, in fact, cold and detached, to the point of acting emotionless. Even in the very rare moments where he is seen smiling, his eyes still express nothing. He regards things with cold logic and thus, he finds it difficult to understand those who follow their hearts. He has a rather nihilistic view of the world, dismissing the magical beings of the Mundus Magicus as "mere illusions" who don't really exist. He doesn't hold himself in high regards, as he calls himself a "tool" devised to enact his late lord's plan. He seems to value destiny very much (hence the name he chose) and he frequently states that those whom he calls "puppets," (including himself) cannot escape their fate, as opposed to "real people" who can chose their lives, and have the right to live in peace.

Despite this, Fate is not cruel. He has no qualms about getting rid of people dangerous (or useless) to him, coercing or petrifying people, (albeit not enjoying it) and he fights without mercy; but he avoids killing unless it is necessary. He is rather indifferent and he acts out of a strong sense of duty rather than genuine malevolence or ambition. He is very devoted to his lord's objective, which he describes as his only reason to exist, and his ultimate motivation is to save the population of the Mundus Magicus from its upcoming collapse.

Fate acts like he lacks emotions but not personality and tastes. He enjoys having a nice cup of coffee (drinking seven cups a day), relaxing in a peaceful place and, more than everything, fighting with the few people able to match his immense power. He also prefers direct confrontation over coercion. Fate values strength above all and despises incomplete power, but not powerless people. He is openly disdainful of incomplete and biaised points of view and never hesitates to point out the contradiction in someone's reasoning, stating that they judge from their first impression. However, he speaks very formally, (even impersonally) he respects his opponents and recognizes any people's qualities to their rightful worth. He is also generous, having given shelter to many war orphans and sent them school (a "hobby' of his as he stated), which would seem to imply that Fate is also immensely wealthy.

Unlike Negi, Fate seems to hate tea and considers drinking milk tea, a part of Negi's englishman ways, childish. He only drinks black tea, but only as lemon tea with ice. He also calls Negi a tasteless english gentleman.

Fate is also gentle and forgiving towards his partners and his followers, taking the responsibility of their failure instead of blaming them, congratulating them for their efforts and leaving them free time. If he first resents people who managed to strike him, (or best him in general) he soon develops an interest in them, hoping that they will grow strong enough to fight on par with him, and enjoys being able to witness their progress. He states that Negi is the only enjoyment he has left, and in spite of his fierce dedication to his "mission," the child prodigy interests him even more than the success of his plan.

Rakan stated that Fate(Tertium) is much more human than the other two Averruncus before him, possibly because he wasn't calibrated with loyalty or sense of purpose for his mission and was given a free will. Indeed, the flashbacks shows Primum Averruncus as a malevolent person, who likes to taunt his enemies and who kills people without second thoughts. Yet he already had Fate's admiration for very strong enemies, even if he didn't seemed to respect said enemies as much as Fate does. In his battle with Negi, Fate has shown more emotions than he has ever shown and to a much greater extent than ever before, including emotions of anger, happiness and excitment. It has also been expressly hinted by Jack Rakan and Negi that Fate might even be capable of deeper, human-like feelings, including (if not, especially) love.

He generally displays a calm yet serious demanor.

Part In The Story
Kyoto Field Trip Arc
Fate Averruncus first appeared as the last of the three mercenary children helping Chigusa during the Kyoto Arc. He supposedly came to Japan from the Istanbul Magic Association a month prior the school field trip to Kyoto, but was actually hired by Chigusa Amagasaki for her plan. She refers to him as "Newcomer". Fate is an expert in both Western and Eastern magic, is highly skilled in martial arts (noted by Negi to slightly resemble the Chinese martial arts he practices), and is stronger and more skilled than Negi, as of the current story arc. He was the one that almost turned everyone at the Kansai Magic Association headquarters into stone, and kidnapped Konoka when Chigusa failed to do so on earlier attempts, (it should also be noted that that pendant item used by Graf Wilhelm could have been an experiment by Fate). He disappeared after he and the summoned demon god were defeated by Evangeline. He specializes in water-based, petrification spells and massive stone attacks and can perform Eastern magic such as summoning demons using ofuda.

Journey to the Magic World
Later on, Fate appeared outside the gate to the Magical World, and, upon entering the Magical World by following Negi's group, attacked Negi by piercing him with a stone-spear-like projectile. He and a group of mages (whose identities are unknown, although one of them seems to know Asuna) then engage in battle with Negi's Ministras, separating the group with a forceful transportation spell, and accomplished the mission they were originally sent to do: destroying the gateway to the Normal World (the group later set out to destroy the other gate keys).
Fate and his group later framed Negi's team for this, putting a bounty on each of the Ala Alba members, making it harder for them to move freely. It is noted by Evangeline that Fate may not be human (saying he was something more akin to a puppet) and Jack Rakan tells Negi that Fate is a survivor of an organization; called Cosmo Entelecheia, that Nagi and his companions battled years ago. Fate and his group's intentions are not fully known at this time, but he claims that he is going to save the world, though he implies to destroy it. It has been revealed that he has Pactio contracts with five female mages named Shirabe, Homura, Shiori, Koyomi and Tamaki (their names are most likely aliases, as Nodoka was able to find out Shirabe's real name, Brigitte, in order to read her mind) all of them are war orphans who he rescued along with 57 others who he sent to school. During the World Peace Festival, Fate shows up in the middle of a street in Ostia, confronting Negi with a deal; Fate would safely escort Negi and his friends to the gate portal in Ostia, in return that Asuna stay with him. Knowing that Fate plans to use Asuna's anti-magic ability to bring about mass destruction, Negi refuses angrily and attacks him in the street. Fate says that he knew that Negi would refuse and tells him "Plan B": To ask that Negi and his friends simply ignore what he is doing since his plan is to bring the destruction of
Mundus Magicus (the Magic World). Which, if Negi agrees, Fate will escort him and his companions back to the Old World. It turns out that Fate never meant to target Negi and his companions during the gate attack - they were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Elsewhere during this conversation, Fate's pactio partners attack Negi's companions in an effort to prevent them from interfering with Fate's offer to Negi. Fate's objective is also to render Negi powerless, like the demon Graf Herrman tried to do when he came to the Mahora Academy, with a magic item that would have Negi swear an oath which is totally impossible to break. (The oath was that Negi should never interfere with anything Fate was involved with, and that somehow, would also involve Negi to stop with searching for his father). The reason for this has not been released yet. Negi eventually refuses Fate's offer, so Fate officially declares Negi his nemesis. A fight begins between the two in the middle of the crowded street; and to Fate's surprise Negi easily punches Fate's stomach. Still, Fate seems to be more powerful and Negi can't defeat him that easily. During the fight when Nodoka and Kotarou arrive they learned Fate's real name is Tertium (meaning 'the third' in Latin). Fate managed to escape after Asuna and Rakan arrived on the scene. In recent chapters, Fate has lifted the memory seal on Asuna, but what happened after has yet to be seen.
According to what Negi manages to read in Nodoka's petrified diary it says that ten years ago, he and Nagi defeated one another. In a video Rakan shows to Negi and his companions in the latest chapters, Fate, with the organization Cosmo Entelecheia, is seen fighting against Nagi and Ala Rubra during the Great War 20 years ago, appearing as a young man.
He was seen watching the battle between Rakan and Negi, and he seemed to be in a bad mood. He then showed up to the ball hosted by Ostian Governor-General Kurt Godel, though was intercepted by Jack Rakan. It is revealed that Fate is indeed a construct or puppet, and that his name is 'Tertium' because there were 2 Averruncus' before him, both of which were defeated by Nagi, 10 and 20 years earlier. 'Fate' is apparently a name he chose for himself. Even though he and Negi are enemies he seems to have a little bit of respect for Negi this is hinted when he says that Negi is an "opponent worth fighting".
While preparing for the ceremony to erase the magical world, Fate shows signs of anxiousness concerning Negi reaching him, even telling Shirabe that "it would be boring if everything went as planed." However, he is then abushed by a groups lead by Kotarou (instead of Negi, who at the time, was comatose after a confrontation with Dynamis), and is surprised at how close they had gotten to him due to the power of Natsumi's artifact. During the confusion, Fate makes an attempt to petrify everyone but is struck with Chachamaru's artifact due to the combined efforts of her, Kotarou and Kazumi. It is recently revealed that "Fate" is actually one of four Averruncus, each representing one of the four elements (his being earth). After recovering from the blast from Chachamaru's artifact, he confronts one of the other Averrunces, the wind-based Quintum, and while Quintum initially has the upper hand, Fate, inspired by Rakan, eventually defeate him with a punch that destroys most of Quintum's left side.
Fate reclaimed the Great Grand Master Key and Asuna, with him and Shirabe planning to finish the ceremony. In the process of reclaiming the two items needed for the ceremony, he also captured the two members of Kotarou's group that were conscious following Quintum's attack, Natsumi and Nodoka. However, despite both girls having powerful artifacts that makes them a threat to him, Fate, rather than petrifying them, deals with them by simply bonding their hands together and taking away their Pactio cards (with the only physical harm so far consisting of a slap to Nodoka when she tries to convince him to join Negi's side and return with them to Mahora).
Currently, Fate is finally battling Negi. During this battle he seems to be having fun and is happy that Negi has made it to this point as he constantly smiles and questions Negi if this what it means to have fun. He has also stated Negi's strikes rivals Jack Rakan's and Negi has also surpassed his strength but, it's because of his power of darkness that is the same as his lord's. As they battle the Magical World begins to collapse and seems to be connecting to the real world, as Mahora Academy can be seen as they battle at the Gravekeeper's Palace and the battle between Negi and Fate can be seen at Mahora Academy.
As their battle rages on being evenly matched for majority of their fight up until now Negi pushes Fate back with a powerful and explosive attack. Fate realises their battle is at it's climax or heading to it and he asks Negi what his plan is, surprising Negi and himself. He quickly takes back what he just said but Negi tells him he wants to him to hear it. He claims there is no need because he is a doll and the conclusion has already been decided. Negi surprises Fate by asking him if he wants to be friends. Fate draws Negi into a deadlock by tricking him into a handshake. They unleash their power at close range and each prepare to use one of their most powerful spells. Negi with the most powerful lightning incantation the Thousand Thunderbolts and Fate with the most powerful earth incantation Tearing Earth at point blank range. The attacks collide rivaling each other within a massive blast that meltsall the area around them. After the smoke from the attacks clears Fate is standing alone, suddenly Nagi grabs his hand and starts betting him for looking down on Negi and humans, Fate realizes this must be because of a reflux from the Cosmo Entelecheia and that Nagi's image is coming from Negi. After realizing whats happening Nagi turns into Rakan, who calls Fate human and starts making fun of him saying Fate is doing Cosmo Entelecheia's mission because he loved Shiori's sister, this angers Fate who denies everything while beating they beat each other.
Rakan turns back to Negi, who apologizes and ask Fate to lend him his strength and in return Negi will lent Fate his strength, Fate reminds Negi he is suppose to beat him first and while Negi agrees to one more final blow Fate asked Negi to stop, saying it was Negi's victory while smiling.
Weakened by the fight, Fate fell to his knees when Negi tried to help him get up Fate slapped his hand away and told Negi not to misunderstand, he will help Negi with save Mundus Magicus but if the plan fails he will start "Cosmo Entelecheia" again. Negi tells Fate that his plan to save Mundus Magicus will take ten years to complete and that he needs Fate alive for the plan, Fate agrees to the plan and they shake hands once again, but sunddenly both Negi and Fate are shot with an attack similar to the one the Life Maker use to shoot Nagi through Primum.
Fate sees that Dynamis had used the time of his fight to gather the power of The Mage of the Beginnings and revived all fallen members of Cosmo Entelecheia from the last twenty years. Negi and Fate fight the revived Coesmo Entelecheia but are quickly overwhelmed until Evangeline saves them. Fate spents the rest of the fight in the sidelines healing his injures and reversing the petrification spell he used on the 3-A girls. After the battle Fate is not seen until the private celebration party standing next to Jack Rakan.

Return To Old World Arc
Once the 3-A class returns to Mahora, Fate asked to be their teacher while Negi is away working on saving the Mundus Magicus because he wants to understand the things that he can't install into his core. When Shizuna takes Fate to 3-A's classroom most of the girls present during the final battle against Cosmo Entelecheia summon their artifacts and prepare to fight until Shizuna scolds them and reveals to the class that Fate will be their teacher while Negi is busy with his work "overseas" much to the class' shock. When Fate overhears Natsumi, Makie and Nodoka trying to convice Yue to tell her feelings to Negi, he tells them not to since Negi is working to save a world and there isn't enough time to be playing house then he tells them that if they can't see the same things and stand on the same place as Negi can't be by his side and finishes by saying that Negi already belongs to him so they should give up. When Negi arrives and invites the four girls for tea, Fate interrupts them and takes Negi away making the girls think they have a new love rival.
It turns out that he is doing his job well, especially since he does not hold back throwing chalks at Chisame and Yuna for talking in class, almost knocking them out due to throwing the chalk at break neck speeds, and soon sent them out to stand in the hallway. After Chisame gets fired up, he immediately gave her another lesson.
Fate is later seen in his older self. He is approached by Sakurako about how he was before both Misa and Kugmiya catch up. Negi and Kotaro then meet up witht the four (during which Fate calls himself Feitas), and through events, the six later end up at a nearby Karaoke bar. After being somewhat taunted by Kotaro about his inability to sing and Negi saying how he should take it slow, Fate somehwat "downloads" something and begins singing Enka like a pro. After both Kotaro and Negi perform, Fate taunted them with a disgusted and pitiful face that brings up both their anger. Later on, Sakurako confesses to Fate at the same time as Kugimiya and Misa confessing to Kotaro and Negi respectively. Fate mutters how the time is up and the three boys then transform into their younger selves. Fate gains the cheerleader's attention and scolds them about curfew and says that their will be expected at the remedial class tomorrow, much to everyone's surprise. Both Negi and Kotaro tried to demand answers from him, to which the Averruncus replies that he had a good time, much to their confusion.
Fate again appears with Negi and Kotaro, all in their older selves, meeting up with Ayaka and Asuna at an expensive restaurant. It is there that Fate says that the three has been late because they were in triple date with the cheerleaders. When Ayaka revealed her Pactio with Negi, Fate "steals" it and comments on how rare it was to have this sort of artifact and ability. Ayaka then takes it back.
In the laste chapter of the final volume, Fate is seen with Negi, Asuna and Ayaka in Mundus Magicus during some sort of event.

Abilities
Hand to Hand Combat- as noticed by Negi, Fate is rather skilled in chinese martial arts. In chapter 316 Quintum states that since Fate is of the "earth" element, he has the most physical strength of the four Averruncus's. Fate has enough strength and ability to stop and hold negi's ensis exsequens which is suppose to be extremely sharp and able to cut through anything and causes extreme cold. However negi's ensis exsequens has been said to be imperfect and thus weaker than a fully mastered one.

Ultimate Defense- In chapter 227, Negi had notice that Fate is surrounded by a mandala-like magical barrier that protects him from all angles. This power seems to be given to all disciples of the Lifemaker, as Dynamis and Zazie's sister possess the same power.

Earth Element Magic- Fate is a specialist of magic of the earth element. A part of his physical abilities comes from his affinity for earth magic. Throughout the series thus far he constantly shows his skill for earth magic which very few can deal with. Using petrification spells, and steel and stone techniques to crush his enemies, and form weapons which can pierce and cut through nearly anything, fast sand attacks and even lava based attacks. He has such skill that he is capable of using the most powerful earth incantation spell.

Skilled Swordsman- Fate has shown great skill with swords and various blades. He is skilled enough to battle on par with negi in a contest of close range sword battle with negi using his ensis exsequens and fate using his stone sword.

Spells / Techniques
Hakkeshou (Eight Trigrams Palm)

Evil Eye of Petrification- A spell used by Fate Averruncus. One that that emits a concentrated beam of light from the fingertips, causing petrifaction at anything it touches, and to the desired subject. Recently, he has demonstrated to be able to release the beam from his eyes as well. Perhaps unsurprising, a high-level spell that is invoked in Ancient Greek. It's possible that it's a different form of Πνοή Πέτρας, seeing as it's beginning stanza is identical.

Breath of Stone- A spell used by Fate Averruncus to petrify Negi as he was summoning Setsuna and Asuna to his location. The attack barely grazed him, but its effect spread throughout his body until Konoka was able to counteract the spell. Although the spell is not meant to kill, in Negi's case he would have suffocated to death when his neck petrified. Due to his powerful bloodline giving him an extremely high level of magic resistance, the spell worked much slower then intended, and would have cut off the oxygen that his head and left side still needed.

Petals Of Stone

Spear of Stone- This spell was used by Fate Averruncus, with the intent to fatally stab Evangeline through the chest following her defeat of Ryômon Sukuna no Kami. However, he did not know of her identity at the time, or that she was a vampire, and so Evangeline survived the attack. The phrase Τό τεῖχος διερξάσθω is meant to counteract magical barriers, such as the ones mages will use to shield themselves with. Ordinarily, the spell "Spear of Stone" causes sharp stone spikes to appear, attacking the target. But for Fate Averruncus, his variation of this spell was added with spell-breaking properties to penetrate a Magi's magical barrier. However, the barrier of a powerful Magi is often complex and multi-layered, and because of this, the Magi would need to cancel their barrier before casting spells of their own. But for safety reasons would render that impossible. But in Fate Averruncus' case, a cancellation spell was invoked ahead of time. Simply put, the spell he used against Evangeline during their first encounter consisted of: a cancellation spell (to drop his barrier for an instant), + gate (teleportation via "gates" to close in direct at the target), the attack spell (Spear of Stone), + delay spell. All which are deployed simultaneously during the attack. A feat such as this would require the level of a highly skilled Magi.

Pillars of Hades- An attack spell which summons large-volume stone pillars; a high-level mage can control these pillars through psychokinesis. While summoned by magic, the pillar itself cannot be defended against via anti-magic shields. However, the mass of the pillar means that it is almost impossible to deflect with anti-physical shields.

Thousand Obsidian Swords 千刃黒耀剣

Ring of Black Stakes Piercing All Creation 象貫く黒杭の円環

Earth-rending Torrent  地を裂く爆流!

Tearing Earth - A high-ranking western spell in Ancient Greek of the highest tier and most likely the strongest in the Earth/Stone series, which calls forth a stream of lava, molten rock, from the caster's hand to attack. Given that its spell structure is the same as Thousand Thunderbolts, Blazing Heat in the Sky and End of the World, as well as calling upon the same level of spirit power (The elemental King), it is arguably the same level of power, and the strongest Earth/Stone attack spell revealed so far. This is reinforced by the fact that Negi, when confronted by Fate at short range with this spell has to counter with the most powerful of the Lightning series, Thousand Thunderbolts.

FATE'S MINISTRA MAGI
These five Ministra magi serve Fate, as they were rescued by him when they were still children. Despite their young and cute appearance, they pack a wallop. For example, member Shirabe can destroy half a tower with a single blow. They each seem to have feelings for Fate.
Homura and Shiori, as well as the other girls, are actually war orphans whose parents were killed in the conflict. Fate rescues these girls and sends them to a boarding school overseas -- something which he calls his "hobby". This implies that there are other girls aside from the initial five that are showcased in the story, but it is unknown whether or not these other girls are also his pactio partners.

HOMURA

The fire spirit girl and only one whose power has not been revealed. She appears composed, but has a short-tempered personality and tends to look down on others -- a trait which causes her to underestimate her opponents. She is loyal to Tertium (Fate) because he saved her from war and even helped her bury her family in peace. As a fire spirit, she can set fire to anything just by looking at it. She has another ability, possibly an artifact, that allows her telekinesis. She is one of Fate's pactio partners, but the appearance and full extent of her artifact's abilities are currently known.
She is briefly seen aiding Shiori in kidnapping Asuna during the Ostia Festival. She is apparently in charge of watching over the captive Anya and Asuna, as she is seen watching over them briefly. She also accompanies Fate and Koyomi during a visit to Asuna's room later in the story.
She joins the other girls in fighting Jack Rakan during the Governor's Ball, which confirms her identity as a fire spirit. Jack Rakan is able to grab her without being burnt by her flames, resulting in her defeat. She later attacks Negi's party at the final battle Gravekeeper's Palace, attempting to burn Negi's girls, but Negi averts her attack last-second. She tries to use her pyrokinesis again, but she is distracted by Nodoka, who risks exposure to flames surrounding her body by pushing her away. Her fire spirit abilities are then sealed by Yuna's artifact, Iris Tormentum. However, she soon rejoins the fray, and confronts Ku Fei, despite her abilities being partially sealed.
Her codename, Homura, means "flame". Her true name is currently unknown.

Abilities

Fire Spirit Transformation: Allows Homura to change into her fire spirit form. In this form, the magic flames surrounding her body are incredibly hot, preventing others from touching her. Her pyrokinesis, which allows her to set anything ablaze just by looking at it, is a power among her species. This ability is not her artifact power. According to Ken Akamatsu, this is an ability inherent to her race, brought out with her contract with Fate.

Telekenisis: Another apparent ability -- possibly from her artifact -- that allows her to freely manipulate objects, allowing her a variety of techniques like floating, throwing rubble, or even closing mouths shut. This is likely a power from her pactio but an artifact, if any, is unknown.

SHIRABE
One of Fate's Ministra magi. Her real name is Brigitte. She has a very serious and composed nature, and is often seen with her eyes closed shut. She's a girl from a Demi-Human race which is on the brink of extinction. The horns of Shirabe's race are the source of her powers, which results in them being targetted by hunters who want to cut off the horns to produce an expensive cure-all on the black market, with the powerless wood sprites then sold into slavery.
During her flashback in chapter 320, it was revealed she her tribe was hunted, due to racial conflicts between humans and demihumans. Seemingly the only survivor in her tribe, Shirabe was cornered before Fate and Shiori/Luna appeared to rescue her. Shirabe then began working alongside Fate, taking up his proposal to "change the world." Because of her past as an orphan, she appears to resent the more privileged lives of Negi's teammates.
Shirabe first meets up with Negi's party during the Ostia Festival. Haruna, Chisame, and Nodoka (whose artifact reveals her true name as Brigitte) are able to counter her attacks, but the girls eventually succumb to her power. Cornered, they are almost defeated until Kotarou intervenes and allows them to escape.
She later appears alongside the rest of the harem at the Governor's Ball to battle Rakan. She reveals her true form as a wood sprite, but is still easily defeated within minutes. She is later seen in the Gravekeeper's Palace, monitoring the progress of Negi and company upon their arrival. She stays behind to help Fate with the rewrite ceremony and does not join the rest of the girls in their fight against Ala Alba. However, a surprise attack from Kotaro and the others renders her unconscious. Upon their defeat at the hands of Quintum (with Fate, upon defeating Quintum, reclaiming the Great Grand Master Key and Asuna while capturing Nodoka and Natsumi as well), she awakens and continues assisting Fate in ceremony. Once Negi began fighting Fate at the site of the ceremony, Shirabe was tasked with bringing Asuna's body to the altar, as doing so would prevent any human in the Magic World to be stuck on Mars once it's completely destroyed by the ceremony. Despite attempts to stop her by some of Negi's students, Anya, and the combined effort of Takane, Mei, and Collett, Shirabe, using her plant control skills, was able to follow through with the plan and place Asuna on the altar.
Her codename, Shirabe, means "melody", referencing her artifact. She was the first of Fate's girls to have her true name revealed. She appears one of the most competent of Fate's ministra, subduing Haruna, Chisame, and Nodoka before Kotaro's intervention and successfully completing her mission in the final battle against Ala Alba. However, her power in relation to her teammates is unknown.

Abilities
Fidicula Lunatica: A violin-like artifact which can produce sound waves that destroy everything in her sight. Her artifact looks like a normal violin and apparently she can't play it well. Despite that, the damage caused by this attack is enormous, as she can destroy half a stone tower with just one blow from her violin. Findicula Lunatica means "Madman's Fiddle".

Kyrie: Appears to be a basic attack from Findicula Lunatica -- a soundwave powerful enough to reduce stone to dust. Kyrie is the name of a hymn, and is sometimes the first prayer in a Catholic mass.
Tree Spirit Possession Ultimate Manifestation: Tree Dragon Summoning: A techinque she uses against Jack Rakan that allows her to grow large, wooden, dragon-like wings and extends her horns to a longer length. She can control trees and plants, sending large vines and branches to attack her opponents. She is also able to use this ability outside her true form, as it was first seen when Brigitte attempted to bind Kotarou with her vines.

KOYOMI
One of Fate's Ministra Magi who can control time with her pactio Horaria Vortix. Compared to the other girls in Fate's harem, she is more childish, emotional, and easily embarassed. She has a very strong loyalty to Fate, and perhaps even romantic feelings, since he rescued her from the brink of death. Fate attempted to send her off to Ariadne Academy in the past, but she refused to enroll, desiring to stay by Fate's side to help him complete his plans. In contrast, she has a poor relationship with Dynamis, Fate's other teammate, who is very annoyed by her and calls her a cat.
She first appears with Tamaki to have negotiations with Rakan, but this was a trap to stop time and lure Rakan, Chamo, and Konoka into Tamaki's artifact. After she has her panties stolen she fought against Rakan, lost, and escaped. Later she and the other girls, except Tsukuyomi, appear on the roof of the Government-General building to battle Rakan again at the Governor's Ball. She then transformed into a wild black cat to fight Rakan, but she was easily defeated.
She appears with the other Fate Girls to battle Ala Alba in the Gravekeeper's Palace, using her artifact from a distance for safety. She is able to trap Negi by using her artifact to freeze him in place. However, she was subdued when Makie used her Liberum Lemniscus to strip her of her artifact, and was attacked by Ku-Fei, who was able to reach Koyomi with her staff. Koyomi soon returned, however, transforming into her Beast mode and attacking Ku Fei, who was defending the less experienced fighters and non-combatants. She manages to break through, and attempts to strike Ako down, but Yuuna, her abilities boosted by Ako's drug, shoots her before she can do so. Yuuna, Makie and Luna drive her back, and she is last seen having rejoined the fight against Ku Fei.
A running gag is that whenever she tries to use Horaria Vortix, either her panties get stolen or her skirt gets flipped which prevents her from using it.
Her codename, Koyomi, means "calendar", which references her time-controlling artifact. Her true name is currently unknown.

Abilities
Horaria Vortrix: Koyomi's artfifact. It can control time but it's more detailed effects are not known as Rakan does not allow it. Since it has been shown to stop or speed-up the flow of time, it is a very powerful artifact; however, Koyomi is easily embarassed and is easily distracted from using her artifact when upset.

Beast transformation: Koyomi turns into a cat-woman covered in black hair. She also combines it with her Horaria Vortrix to boost her speed. Her main offense in beast form appears to be her super-sharp claws.

TAMAKI
One of Fate's Ministra magi; like Shirabe, she's from the Demi-Human race that looks like some elf (like many of the Demi-Human race). She wears a pair of horns that can be used to poke people (as Rakan and Kamo get horned because they notice she doesn't wear panties). According to Akamatsu, she doesn't wear panties because her tail is too big. She is often expressionless, even when put into otherwise embarassing situations.
Her artifact, Encompadentia Infinita, has the ability to create a Barrier Dimension to trap her opponents, and can only be broken by killing Tamaki, although Rakan easily destroyed her technique without even injuring her. She seems to team up with Koyomi, since their combined artifacts represent time and space. Koyomi is able to stop time long enough for Tamaki to trap people within her artifact.
In chapter 302, it's revealed that she's from the dragon folk, similar to Vrixho Nagasha (the dragon of the Hellas empire). Dragonfolk are said to be among the most powerful beasts in existence. Kaede, who had past experience fighting dragons in the magic world, seemingly subdued her, but Tamaki emerges from the flames seemingly unharmed, transforming fully into an actual dragon, and joins Homura and Koyomi in fighting Ku Fei.
Her codename (Tamaki) means "bracelet" -- a reference to her unending artifact. Her true name is currently unknown.

Abilities
Encompadentia Infinita: Creates some Dimensional Barrier that can be used to trap foe. The name Encompadentia Infinita means "Infinite Embrace." The space within the dimension her artifact creates is seemingly endless, making it easy for her to hide from her opponent.

Dragon Transformation: In this form, Tamaki has some wooden-like wing and a longer, lizard-like tail. Its true skill is unknown, as she and Fate's other Ministra Magi lost to Rakan in just 5 minutes after the girls got serious. Her form is seen again during the girls' battle against Negi in the Gravekeepers palace, where she is seen sporting a much larger horns and a giant tail, suggesting that her true form is much larger than her humanoid form. She can easily crush things with a swing of her tail.

SHIORI
Shiori (Her real name is Luna) is one of Fate's Ministra magi who disguises herself as Asuna with her artifact Signum Bioregen ("Life-Stealing Mark") while the real Asuna is kidnapped by Fate. This technique is the perfect disguise technique, as she can copy all aspects of her target (both mind and appearance). However, this technique can be broken if the user falls in love. Shiori's race are mind-readers, able to read the minds of those whom they touch. As such, they are highly feared, used, and often slain if it is felt they know too much.
Luna, as she was known then, met Fate when he experienced a malfunction and fell out of the sky. Luna's older sister brought Fate into their home to allow him to recover, though neither Luna nor her sister could read Fate. Fate discovered he had a taste for Luna's sister's coffee and when he left three days later, he was invited to return whenever he wanted for more. When he eventually does so, humans have attacked Luna's villiage, severely injuring her sister and leaving both on the ground far outside their home. As Fate speaks with Luna's sister, Secundum brutually murders her -- which he tries to justify because of the dangers of her telepathy -- to send her to CE, which is witnessed by Luna. Luna flees in fear and is about to be murdered by Secundum when Fate intervenes and beheads him instead. After that event, Luna joins Fate (possibly under the code name Shiori from then on) and is with Fate when he first met Homura and Shirabe/Brigitte.
Currently, Shiori has recieved far more focus than any of the other girls in Fate's harem. She spent most of her time convincing Ala Alba that she was indeed Asuna, so Fate could carry on his plans without suspicion from Negi. Suspicion was initially cast upon Shiori's identity when she was attacked by Kurt Godel, with an attack Asuna's magic cancel should have countered. Her injury results in Negi making a vow to protect Asuna -- a move that strengthens Asuna's (and consequently Shiori's) affection towards Negi, temporarily weakening her artifact.
Shiori continues to fool Ala Alba until Cosmo Entelecheia's attack at the Governor's Ball. At this point, Rakan's parting words to Negi advise him the Asuna traveling with him is likely an impostor. After the escape from the ball, Negi remember's Rakan's words and wants to confront Shiori face-to-face inside the Diorama Sphere Theodora provided. Chisame, who was also with Negi during the reveal, follows Negi into the sphere with Mana and Nodoka. When Nodoka's mind-reading fails to prove Shiori's identity, Mana suggests they shoot her with an anti-demon bullet to expose her true form. Amidst the chaos, Negi decides to reveal Shiori's true identity with a pactio. The kiss causes Shiori to completely fall in love with Negi, weakening her disguise and revealing her true identity.
Shiori, whose true name is revealed to be Luna, is then interrogated by the others. Since Fate told her she was free to do whatever she wanted when her mission was over, Luna decides to tell Negi that Cosmo Entelecheia has kidnapped Asuna and Anya, and is holding them hostage in the Gravekeeper's Palace. At this point Luna decides to aid Negi and the others in their assault on the Gravekeeper's Palace, despite suspicions from Mana. Chisame is quick to note Luna's crush on Negi; however, she still appears to have great respect for Fate and is fiercely defends his actions when they are under criticism. Her conflicting feelings for both Negi and Fate cause her great personal confusion, as well as criticism from Negi's party and her own.
Upon leaving the Diorama Sphere, she resumes her Asuna personality to not worry the other girls about Asuna's kidnapping. As a member of Cosmo Entelecheia, she is able to provide Negi's team with many useful details, like a secret opening in Fate's barrier around the palace. Up until the confrontation with Dynamis, Tsukuyomi, and the other Fate girls, Luna was traveling in Kaede's artifact, helping navigate the others throughout the palace. After Dynamis used the Grand Master Key to cause her and the other people in the cloak to come out of hiding, she, along with Negi, Chisame, and Nodoka, tried to go on ahead to retrieve the Great Grand Master Key. However, an attack by Dynamis caused Negi to become corrupted by the Magia Erebea again, causing him to severely damage Dynamis. However, before Negi can deal the final blow, Luna reverted back into her regular form and, trying to stop the corruption from the Magia Erebea, took the attack that was intended for Dynamis. Luckily, she was only grazed and Konoka was able to heal her, although the attack resulted in Negi going into an unconscious state.
After being attacked by Sextium, she was saved by a freshly-awoken Negi and is viewing the final battle between Negi and Fate.

Abilities

Artifact: Signum Biolegens: Shiori kisses the target and transforms into him/herself in both mind and appearance. The target's emotions will be transferred to the user. For example: If the user falls in love, the power will be broken, as shown when Negi kissed the fake Asuna to reveal her true identity. The auto-suggestion aspect of the artifact, which completely hypnotizes Shiori into assuming the target's identity, is shown to be powerful enough to fool Nodoka's artifact. Shiori's artifact is able to replicate the user's (Asuna's) artifact, but not its abilities. The same appears true for natural abilities, like Asuna's magic cancel. As of chapter 292, it appears Shiori can speak to the persona of the person she is imitating, and maintain they can switch personalities and speaking at will. However, this would usually be out of character and thus draw suspicion to her disguised self.

Mind Reading: Shiori's people are supposed to be able to read the minds of people whom they touch (with a kiss based on how her sister attempted to read Fate's mind). Shiori has not yet demonstrated this ability. However, it is implied this is how Shiori is able to use her artifact so successfully, and why she kissed Asuna to take on her appearance.

TSUKUYOMI 月詠

An unusual, sadistic, and masochistic Shinmei Ryuu swordswoman, is one of the three mercenary children that were hired to help Chigusa. Unlike Setsuna, who uses a single sword style, she uses a sword and dagger style. She also knows how use ofuda, or onmyōdō charms, the same way that Setsuna can. Tsukuyomi seems like she has a crush of sorts for Setsuna and likes to cosplay in Gothic Lolita clothes. She and Toko share similar appearances (blonde hair, glasses) that could suggest that they are related. She returned home after Chigusa was defeated.
As Negi's team arrives in the Magical World, a disguised Tsukuyomi was part of a squad lead by Fate to take down the Mahora team and frame them for the destruction of the gate between there and the human world. Recently, she was seen acting as Fate's spy, gathering information on the location and actions of the White Wing. When Fate triggered his battle with Negi in Ostia, Tsukuyomi appeared again before Setsuna, exhibiting a lust for fighting the hanyou. She almost defeated Setsuna and attempted to strip her, even implying that she intended to rape her. However, Setsuna quickly escaped and Tsukuyomi was forced to retreat in compliance with Fate's orders
Tsukuyomi's next appearance is alongside Fate. She showcases her impressive abilities, able to hold her own in a "just for fun" battle against Fate, barely escaping his final attack. She later attacks Ala Alba on their journey to the Gravekeeper's Palace, summoning a swarm of demons to attack them. She briefly fights Negi, only to escape amongst the chaos. She reappears at the Gravekeeper's Palace alongside Dynamis and Fate's partners, and it currently locked in battle with Setsuna.
Although she is a mercenary hired to fight for Fate, she often acts in her own interest, deliberately ignoring orders from him -- and even attacking him out of amusement. She has shown a desire to fight Negi herself. During her encounter with Ala Alba before the final battle, she says she had not joined Fate for the money, but is acting out of a desire for bloodlust and carnage.
During the Final battle, Tsukuyomi reveals that she somehow came into the posession of the legendary Hina Blade, a weapon so powerful that the demon bound within nearly wiped out the Shinmei Ryu. She surrenders her body and soul to the black spirit of the blade, proclaiming that she will feast on Setsuna's soul.

Abilities

Shinmei Ryuu Technique: Tsukuyomi is a powerful swordswoman, a student of the Shinmei Ryuu school and able to match strength with Setsuna during their fist battle, eventually overpowering her during their first encounter in the Magic World arc. The full list of the sword techniques is listed here.

Ni-no-tachi: Used against Negi to escape his grasp. She hits his elbow with her knee to weaken his grasp, and then combines a kick with the slash of her sword to distance him.

Zanmaken Ni-no-Tachi: A special technique that cuts a demon without harming the (human) obstacle in front of them. According to Setsuna, it is a technique only passed through the main line. It is also seen used by Kurt Godel, and by consequence, Rakan via imitation.

Shikigamis: Like Setsuna, Tsukuyomi can summon paper golems to do her bidding. She can also fool her opponent with a shikigami copy of herself, allowing her to sneak attack her opponent during the confusion.

Code of the Lifemaker: Tsukuyomi has access to a Grand Master Key, allowing her to use the Code of the Lifemaker. So far, she is only seen using it to summon demons to attack.

Okuni Yakou: Using the code of the Life Maker, Tsukuyomi summons hordes of demons.
Isshun Sengeki: Nitou Kokutou Samidaregiri

Negima Chou Mahora Taisen 1
Tsukuyomi is fought in the fifth battle. She is very dangerous oppenent that has high movement and her attack could result in 240+ damages.
While the group was fighting with Aya. Tsukuyomi kidnapped Konoka and Setsuna to Chigusa.
In the another battle she is fought alongside with Chigusa.

DYNAMIS
A member of Cosmo Entelecheia and had already fought alongside Primum and the Mage of the Beginning against Ala Rubra. He is also the true leader of the third Cosmo Entelecheia, according to Chamo. Dynamis was first seen in chapter 187, just after Negi was struck down by Fate's stone spear. He is possibly a Demon; however, this has yet to be officially confirmed, as he might be just another shadow-user. Dynamis usually wears a mask and a cloak, hiding his face and appearance with it.

History

War with Ala Rubra
Dynamis is seen as Ala Rubra encounters Cosmo Entelecheia at the Gravekeeper's Palace for the final battle. There, he fought against Albireo Imma and lost to him, evidenced by Imma's managing to come out of the battle relatively unharmed and being able to heal most of Nagi's injures before his battle with the Mage of the Beginning.

Second encounter and Ala Alba War
A similar-looking man appears later alongside with Fate Averruncus as Negi and Ala Alba travel to the Magical World. It turns out that Dynamis survived the battle at the Gravekeeper's Palace twenty years ago. He later attacks together with Tsukuyomi and a horde of summoned demons at Kurt Godel's gala. Kaede noticed him as he summoned his huge servant, but he goes after Nodoka, saying that she is too dangerous to be left alone with her artifact, Diarium Ejus. However, he underestimates his prey, and for a short time his Code of The Lifemaker Key was stolen by Nodoka, who used it to get her and Kazumi to the emergency meeting place. He eventually catches up with them and reclaims the key. However, his arm and half of his lower body get sliced off by Setsuna as she comes to Nodoka's aide. Because of this, he is amazed by the new generation and tells them that he looks forward to the real battle to come.
He is later seen completing the preparations for Fate's plan as Ala Alba is penetrating the Gravekeeper's Palace. After watching the happenings for a while, he states that no matter what anyone says, you get reminded of The Thousand Master when you see Negi's strength. Dynamis curses Kurt Godel and Takamichi for hunting the remaining members of Cosmo Entelecheia down like dogs after the war. He is upset by the thought that the once to proud and powerful organization now has to rely on little girls. As Negi and his companions reach the inner stairway hall of the Palace, Dynamis decides that its time to join the battle alongside Tsukuyomi and Fate's Ministra. Dynamis' rage about the happenings around the plan and Negi's sheer strength drives the man to the point where he reveals his true strength and engages Kaede and Negi in battle. Having been underestimated, he heavily wounds Negi. Negi then transforms using his Magica Erebea, and the consumed Negi manages to take Dynamis out. Dynamis states, however, that if Negi were to kill him now in this state, that Negi will forever fall into darkness and that it would be Cosmo Entelecheia´s victory. After Negi is in a half-dead state, he considers Negi as the only one to fight evenly with Fate and later laugh and gloat that his side is victorious only soon to be hit by Ku Fei's artifact. He soon explained about the Gravekeeper Palace and Asuna's location. He laughed again after hearing Ako mention about Asuna's ability making Natsumi's artifact useless when approaching Asuna and commented that she is correct. After Kaede's group left, Chisame asks Dynamis about Cosmo Entelecheia's origins and their boss's identity. After answering Chisame's questions, he commented Ala Alba's strategy and Natsumi's artifact. However, he said that Tertium is not the only Averruncus he revived with the Key. As proof, Sextum appears before them shocking Chisame's group. She then recover Dynamis and suffocate Chisame's group with her magic. Suddenly, Negi revives and defeat Sextum with one blow, suprising Dynamis. Moreover the Master of the Grave suddenly turn against them and restrain Dynamis' group's movements.
After Negi and Fate's battle ended, they were suddenly attacked by the Mage of The Beginning. Dynamis soon emerges from the lava, congratulating Fate for "buying them time". With the revived Cosmo Entelecheia by his side, they overpowered Negi and Fate and when Secundum is about to finish them off, Evangeline appeared and stopped him. Dynamis was suprised seeing her but regain his confidence because his side still outnumbers them. Evangeline wonders about the connection between Mahora and the Magical World might be a mistake which confused Dynamis. Albireo Imma suddenly appears behind Dynamis giving him a lot of damage. He soon became annoyed after seeing Negi's reinforcements. When the battle begins, Evangeline begins chanting a spell which worries him. Using his Code of the Lifemaker, he forced summon the Ancient Dragon Vrkso Nagasya to fight back. However, Evangeline finished her chanting and cast her Endless White Nine Heavens spell on every enemy, freezing them and Dynamis for eternity.

MUNDUS MAGICUS ARC

Accidental Meeting
Cosmo Entelecheia first appears at the very beginning of the Mundus Magicus arc, during the skirmish opposing it and Negi's party, but at these times all of Fate's followers are masqued and the name of the group is still unknown.
As the Ala Alba ends up scattered all aross the Mundus Magicus, being secretly watched over by Tsukuyomi, they learn more about the Great Mage War, learning that it was orchestrated by the secret society Cosmo Entelecheia.

Later, Jack Rakan a former member of the Ala Rubra becomes Negi's mentor, telling the Ala Alba everything he knows about the War and the secret society. It becomes quite clear that Fate Averruncus, whom Rakan describes as a "phantom of the past" pursues the same goal as his first previous self from twenty years ago. Fate confirms this when he approaches Negi to "negociate" while his Pactio Partners fight Negi's and manage to kidnap Asuna.

Later Fate sneaks into a ball held by the Governor of New Ostia (what remains of the capital of Vespertatia) Kurt Godel, a former member of the Ala Rubra who wants Negi to join his side. Cosmo Entelecheia then invade the palace with their armies of shadow-born creatures and make many of Nagi's party's friends from the Mundus Magicus disappear, including Jack Rakan himself. (It is later revealed that those who disappeared were sent into the actual "Cosmo Entelecheia" and can be brought back.) Negi and the Ala Alba then decide to invade the Gravekeeper Palace to bring down the secret society once and for all, repeating what the Ala Rubra did twenty years ago.

The task proves quite uneasy, as their battleship is tracked down by the gigantic shadow-born demon, (which they manage to destroy) as well as the entire armies of shadow-borns, and that the Gravekeeper's Palace is surrounded by a gigantic forcefield of magical energy. (Gathered from the Gateports to the Mundus Vetus that Cosmo Entelecheia destroyed.) Thanks to Shiori, who tells them how to enter the forcefield, and to the warship fleets of New Ostia which backs them up the Ala Alba manages to set foot on Cosmo Entelecheia's hideout at last.

They then separate into three groups, one which repares their ship and secures a safe way out; another led by Kotaro Inugami and his partner Natsumi (whose artifact makes people invisible) tasked to rescue Cosmo Entelecheia's prisoners Anya and Asuna; and the last one led by Negi, which ventures into the palace to defeat Fate Averruncus once and for all.

Ala Alba's assault
As they enter the gloomy hideout, they are greeted by Poyo Rainyday (whom they mistake for her younger sister Zazie) who casts them into a replica of the "Cosmo Entelecheia." There, Negi is living in an ideal world where none of his pupils are aware of his status as a mage, where Cosmo Entelecheia no longer exists, where his parents are alive and well and where he is teaching peacefully. He eventually understands that this sistuation is not real, and the real Zazie manages to contact him through her replica of the illusionary world. After Negi tells her that he wishes to negociate with Fate, Zazie helps him awake. Eventually, everyone breaks free of the spell and Negi reveals that he devised a way to prevent the collapse of the Mundus Magicus.
Not believing this, Poyo reveals her true demonic form and prepares to cast them into the "Cosmo Entelecheia" for real, but the shrine-maiden Mana Tastsumiya challenges her in a one-on-one battle, enabling the others to go further. Later, Setsuna gets locked in combat against Tsukuyomi and is forced to leave the others, who are confronted by Dynamis and Fate's partners Homura, Tamaki and Koyomi.

Dynamis enters his "all-out battle mode" and attacks Negi, only for Negi's partners to subdue Fate's and attack him so that Negi could challenge Fate. However, as Negi is escaping, Dynamis strikes him from a space portal causing him to get fully corrupted by the "Magia Erebea" (Negi's major, yet-double-edged asset) and to turn into a half demon. In this form, Negi easily defeats Dynamis and as the Shadow-wielder is urging him to finish him off, so that the corruption would be complete, Negi's partners manage to reverse the process.

Negi turns back to normal but collapses immediately after. With their strongest fighter out of the league and as Kotaro's team could not reach Asuna on time, the Ala Alba devise a plan to interrupt the ritual. They ultimately sneak into the altar and succed to free Asuna, but only to discover that the last three of the Averruncus series, have been awoken.

Quartum attacks the groups with the ships, destroying one and playing cat-and-mouse with the other. Quintum defeats nearly everyone in the rescue group, who struggle to keep Asuna and the Grand Master Code of the Life-Maker away from him, and paralyses them with lightning spells. Sextum regenerates Dynamis (who is bound by a magical contract and can no longer fight) before encasing Negi's partners into watery cubes. Negi then awakes and frees them. As he is about to fight Sextum, the Master of the Grave appears and restrains her, revealing that she now roots for her descendant's plan to save the Mundus Magicus.

Negi then defeats Quartum with surprising ease, and Fate himself protects Natsumi from Quintum, stating that he considers Negi and his partners as his preys. Taken aback by Fate's behaviour, Quintum beats him down and prepares to dispose of him, labelling him as a "deficient unit" but Fate eventually takes him down and takes back the Grand Master Code of the Life Maker.

Negi then appears, ready to settle their score once and for all. Having conquered the side-effects of the "Magia Erebea" he is able to fight evenly with Fate, while his partners are fighting Shirabe, to prevent her from performing the ritual that would erase the Mundus Magicus. However, the Mundus Magicus has begun to collapse. The two worlds are merging and Cosmo Entelecheia's armies of shadow borns invade Mahora Academy to reach the Mage of the Beginning, who is laying below the World Tree.

Cosmo Entelecheia's Counterattack
After a fierce battle Negi defeated Fate who decided to help Negi with his plan to save Mundus Magicus. While shaking hands both Negi and Fate are shot by the same attack from a mysterious figure that looks like The Mage of the Beginning. Negi figures out that the figure isn't the real Life Maker but before he can't say anything Dynamis emerges from the lava and tells Negi they had secure a direct path to Mahora. After congratulating Fate for "buying them time" it is revealed that all past members of Cosmo Entelecheia had been revived thanks to all the mana of the magic world and the power of the Life Maker. Negi challenges Secundum and the rest of Cosmo Enthelecheia as a successor of the Thousand Master's Wish, after getting attacked by Secundum, Quartum, Quintum and Septendecim at the same time, Fate protected Negi and joined him because he already told Negi he would lend him his strengh until the crisis was over. Meanwhile, Shiori and Konoka told the other members of Ala Alba they needed to release Asuna because it was the only thing they could do, but before they could move Primum and Nii stopped them with powerful spells.
Negi and Fate are eventually overwhelmed by Cosmo Entelecheia's power and Secundum decided to rewrite them both, but before he could do anything the real Evangeline appeared and stopped him. The battle rages on between Cosmo Entelecheia's forces and Evangeline's side while the students of Class 3-A tried to wake up Asuna. Evangeline chants for a while and then she can cast her Endless White Nine Heavens spell on all the members of Cosmo Entelecheia (excluding Tertium and the Mage of the Beginning). The Mage of the Beginning soon grabbed Negi but Asuna woke up and rescued Negi. The two of them combined their strength and defeated the Mage of the Beginning and his hood fall back revealing his face. It turns out to be none other than Nagi Springfield which suprised Negi, Asuna, Evangeline, Jack Rakan, and Fate. After that, Asuna used her powers to revive all the citizens of the Magical World which leads to Ala Alba's victory.

THE AVERRUNCUS SERIES

Averruncus is the name given to a construct type mage created by the Mage of the Beginning to be his right-hand-man and the guardians of Mundus Magicus. Each one of them wields total control over an element and its derivated forms (Water and ice, Earth and sand, Wind and lightning) and is named with the latin word for his (or her) order of creation (Primum the first, Secundum the second, Tertium the third, and so on and so forth.). Just like their master, they are shrouded in mysteries and the exact way they are created remains unknown. It seems that when the current Averruncus is destroyed, the following one is created/awoken and takes his place. The Averruncuses are incredibly powerful mages, (whose power is only rivaled by that of the members of the Ala Rubra, and surpassed by that of the dreaded vampire sorceress Evangeline) highly proficient in all forms of magic and in martial arts. In the chapter 311, it is revealed that, the following Averruncus can be created/awoken while the current one is still alive and well, and have a different personality and will from each other.

Primum Averruncus of Earth, served as the Life-Maker's right-hand-man during the Great Mage War until his demise during the final battle when a giant boulder fell on his weaken body. A resurrected Fate apparently tracked Nagi Springfield down to the Mundus Vetus (real world) and battled him in the city of Istambul. The current Averruncus, Tertium Averruncus of Earth, goes by the name Fate because of his hatred of his real name and serves as the current primary antagonist of the series.

In chapter 311, Quartum Averruncus of Fire, Quintum Averruncus of Wind, and Sextum Averruncus of Water were awakened to fight against the Ala Alba, (White Wing) the team formed by Negi Springfield, (the ten-year-old child prodigy, son of Nagi and Arika, primary protagonist of the series and head teacher of a class of middle-school female japanese students) as well as his friends and partners.

Each Averruncus is as powerful as Fate himself. Contrary to Fate Averruncus, who was seen casting the same rock-based spell in both his known forms, each of the last three Averruncuses attack with spells of their distinct element and personality. Quartum has a fiery, battle-loving and sadistic temper, can summon immense exploding swords, huge swarms of flaming, exploding wasps or a gigantic fiery demon. Quintum appears as calm and emotionless much like Fate, he attacks with lighting blasts or lighting-infused spears and can turn into lightning to boost himself. Sextum is mild-spoken and polite but ruthless she can surround herself with water and encases her victims into watery cubes in which they eventually drown and she can freeze, seemingly not bothering with needless destruction. Secundum is eventually revealed to be an Averruncus of Wind like Quintum, however unlike Primum and Tertium both of these Averruncus have extremly different personalities.

PRIMUM
The first of the Averruncus series created by The Mage of the Beginning. Primum served as The Mage of the Beginning's right hand and as Nagi's rival during the Great Mage War twenty years before the current story.

Personality
Primum shares much of his personality with Fate Averruncus; both appear to be calm and collected but they are, in fact, cold and detached. Primum's main difference is that unlike Fate, he is ruthless and cruel and seems to take pleasure in his mission, possibly because he was calibrated, unlike Fate. Primum underestimates Nagi beacuse he has no lineage and thought of him as a fool who only knows how to continue to move forward.

Synopsis
Primum made his first appearance disguise as Senator McGill, who was an ally of Ala Rubra, to destroy the information Nagi and Arika found that revealed a Cosmo Entelecheia mole inside the Megalomemsembria Senate. While Primum's disguise manage to fool Gateau and Rakan, Nagi manage to see the difference and attacked Primum who inform them that Senator McGill was already dead and resting at the bottom of Megalo Bay. When Nagi tried to attack him, Primum was protected by the Fire and Water users of Cosmo Entelecheia, when the members of Ala Rubra were about to retaliate, Primum disguise his voice as McGill once more and accused Ala Rubra of being traitors to the others senators causing Ala Rubra to flee.
Six months later before the start of the final battle Primum is seen talking to The Mage of the Beginning who asked him about Nagi when Primum answered the he was born in a village England from a regular family with no lineage and to him no destiny. Because The Mage of the Beginning looked intrigue Primum got irritated and told him that Nagi is just a fool with nothing but power who beats down what stands in his way without thinking and a dimwit who only knows how to continue moving foward, The Mage of the Beginning told Primum that that is what being human means and that in his two thousand six hundred years he learned that it is more enjoyable to do things like "that fool", this shocked Primum but before he could say anything The Mage of the Beginning told him to prepare for battle.
Ala Rubra manage to infiltrate the Gravekeeper's Palace where Primum was waiting along side Dynamis and unamed Fire, Water and Wind users. When Primum's companions started fighting Ala Rubra, Primum started his final fight with Nagi.
While Primum strengh was great he was still defeated by Nagi. This made Primum remark how ludicrous Nagi's strength is, who immediately demanded to know the location of the Twilight Imperial Princess, this made Primum laugh because Nagi still hadn't figure out he wasn't the leader of Cosmo Entelecheia before Nage could say anything they were both shot through their bodies by The Mage of the Beginning. With the help of Albireo, Nagi manage to stand up and fight The Mage of the Beginning along side Filius Zect but Primum couldn't do anything but watch the fight because of his injuries.
Against all odds Nagi defeated Primum's master, and while Primum watched this, a giant boulder fell on his weakened body, killing him.
Eight years after the war Tertium awakened and seemingly inherited Primum's memories and powers, they are however two different Averruncus.

Abilities
The only thing known about Primum's abilities is tha he is an Earth user, however since both Primum and Tertium share the same model and type they probably share the same abilities.

QUINTUM
AVERRUNCUS OF WIND

The second Averruncus of Wind, he has the same hairstyle as Secundum the first Averruncus of wind. Quintum's personality is very similar to Fate's personality when he first appeared, however he loses his temper when he believes Fate betrayed them.
He first appears in chapter 311 in the manga, where he hits Nodoka with a lightning and seizes the Great Grandmaster Key. He subsequently defeats Kaede (albeit she manages to retrieve the Key), Kotarou, Asakura, Yue, and Makie, before encountering Fate Tertium Averruncus. In the following fight, he has the upper hand for a while, but is defeated - with a powerful punch that made a huge hole in his left side and blew his arm off.

SECUNDUM
AVERRUNCUS OF WIND
An Averruncus of Wind who was awaken four years after the war and he served as Tertium's superior when the latter was awaken eight years ago. Unlike Quintum, the other Averruncus of Wind, Secundum was arrogant, immature, dimwitted, sadistic and believes he is a hero bringing salvation to the people of Mundus Magicus, however both of them share the believe that Tertium is defective. While he said he was configured to be the "strongest" by his master, in reality his loyalty and sense of purpose is what his master maxed out when calibrated him, Nagi claimed that he was weaker than Primum. Secundum was killed by Tertium, saving Shiori's life in the process, after Secundum rewrote Shiori's sister who had befriended Tertium earlier.

THE ATUR SERIES
NII
ATUR OF FIRE
A powerful construct mage from the Atur series that helps Cosmo Entelecheia achieve their goals. Nii's apperance is that of a demi-human with Hellas race characteristics (dark skin, white hair), and has a relax personality outside of combat situations, but deadly serious in them where she uses powerful fire techniques. Together with Secundum, Tertium (Fate) and Septendecim, she fought Nagi eight years after the Great War. She is proficient with Fire spells, and was able to cast Incendium Gehennae (Hellfire Conflagration) against Nagi, who had to use almost everything he had to defend againts it. Nii also has some sort of rivalry with Rakan, having mentioned more than once her desire to kill him.

THE ADAD SERIES
SEPTENDECIM
ADAD OF WATER
A powerful construct mage of Cosmo Entelecheia that specializes in water and ice techniques. Fought Nagi Springfield with Secundum, Tertium and Nii eight years after The Great War. Septendecims seems to be a quiet person since she has only been seen speaking to chant her spells and to tell Secundum that Nagi was alive after their attack. She appears to be of the demi-human species, and is able to cast the highest level of ice-magic spells, Kosmike Krustallopegia ("Frozen World"), a spell only seen from Evangeline.

POYO RAINYDAY
The older sister of Zazie Rainyday and is also a high member of the demonfolk clan. Chisame and other members of Ala Alba called her even Final Boss Material, which Poyo unhesitatingly admit herself that she belongs into this category. In Chapter 351 it is revealed that Zazie Rainyday is the Princess of the Demon Realm, making Poyo, as her older sister, the crown princess.

Character

Poyo has a very stern, no-nonsense personality and has no qualms about attacking people who cannot fight back, if it means reaching her goals. She also seems to be the most serious and straight forward charater in the series. She reveales hard facts to Negi's party with kind and polite undertones. Futher, she displayes an honorable and prideful side. Her talk with Mana futher showed that she seems reasonable, seeking a peaceful resolution and using violence as a final solution.
Evidence of her reasonable mindness can be seen when:
She used her pactio to occupy Ala Alba rather than to fight them head on.
She stopped fighting Mana and surrundered to her as the battle between Negi and Fate found an outcome.
She has a habit or speech pattern, much like Kaede, were she adds, "~ Poyo" at the end of a phrase. Negi starts calling her this and the name sticks.

Part In The Story

Poyo first appears at the summit of the Magical World Arc, are Negi and his troupe break into the Gravekeepers Palace (AKA Fates hideout). However upon entry, they appear to be greeted by "Zazie" herself. Mana commented immediatetly that it is impossible for Zazie to be there. She then displays a very high level of magical power by subduing Mana, Kaede and Setsuna, and offers the group a chance to return that very instant to Mahora, stating that Negi's actions will help the cause the future Chao Lingshen sought to prevent. Upon Negi's refusal of her offer, "Zazie" reveals her pactio card and artifact Magic Lantern Circus, which enables her to transport Negi as well as all of his allies into the Eternal Garden, manifested for Negi as his first year of teaching class 3A in which both his parents are not missing and only faint memories of the real world remain. During Negi's 'dream' of reality, a representation of the actual Zazie Rainyday, still present at Mahora, somehow watches as he moves through a single day of his own version of paradise. Negi manages to gather the will to begin to question the reality he finds himself in, and confronts Zazie, who is still present and watching him. She claims the illusion he finds himself in, while not the actual Cosmo Entelecheia, is "so close to the real thing as to be indistinguishable." Zazie states that the illusion presents not so much a 'convenient dreamworld', but rather a 'happy reality that could have been', or the happiest possible world for each individual 'trapped' within. Taking a side that is neither completely for nor against helping Negi to complete his goals, she explains to Negi the nature of the world around him, including how to leave it, while still questioning whether leaving that world, his ideal world, is what Negi really wants to do. When he remains firm in his resolve Zazie bids him farewell, warning him to be careful when facing her elder sister Poyo, who was responsible for the original attack in Gravekeepers Palace, as well as telling him she will be waiting for him in Mahora, with Ayaka and all the other students who are still in the Old World.
After Negi states that he has a solution to halting the deterioration of the magical world, Poyo reveals her true form: that of a high member of the demonfolk clan. She grows two sets of horns from her head and a giant demonic silhouette that is capable of firing powerful beams of energy. Mana and Keade manage to block her attack right before the gravity mines (provided by Chao) the sniper planted activated and smashed the high demon through the floor. Mana dives after her, knowing that Negi needs to conserve his strength. As the two plunge through the floor, Mana reveals her own trump card: Time dilation bullets and her own half demonfolk blood (that is the source of her abilities.)
As Fates and Negis battle reaches a conclusion, Poyo surrenders to Mana while stating that her side won. Poyo then sighs frustraded that from that point onwards only considerable chaos awaits. She hoped that the demons could work it out peacefully. At the very end, Poyo invites Mana back to their side.

Abilities

Combat Skills - Poyo was easily able to outmatch Mana, Setzuna and Kaede in close combat. Futher more, she was able to handle Mana easily without showing a sign of taking her serious that she would fight to a lethal level.
Magic Powers - Poyo displayed a magical power on which even Mana commentated, that those arent normal. How strong her true magic abilities are is to date unkown, but it can be assume that they are one of the highest within the series.

Pactio -
Poyos pactio card has a unique function, The Magic lantern Circus traps the victim in an ideal fantasy world of their own design. When this was used on Negi, he was placed in a peaceful world where his parents were present in his life, Eva was human, and Chao was a normal, non time traveling student. The others experienced their own fantasies as well. Setuna's world was waking up in bed with Konoka serving her breakfast wearing nothing but an apron, Chamo's world was being able to dive into a pile of female unmentionables without Asuna punting him into next year, Yue's was to have her Grandfather alive and well, Kotarou was able to fight Negi as much as he wanted, and Chachamaru was able to walk alongside both Negi and Evangeline. But the illusion was imperfect because elements of reality (such as Paru's goldfish ship being stuck in the middle of the Mahora main Plaza) bled through into Negi's world. Zazie commented that if a person became too immersed in the fantasy world, they could never leave. It was revealed that when affected by the pactio, there was a safe word (Audacia Paula, which translates to a little bit of courage) that allows the person to leave if he or she chooses to.

GRAF VON HERMAN

Looks like an elderly gentleman with very courteous and refined manners, but unsurpisingly this is only a cover.
Hermann is in fact a vastly powerful high-ranking demon and mercenary.
Hermann is very physically strong and fast, he can cast spells, teleport, and channel his demonic energy into his fists to unleash huge waves, or several beams in rapid succession. Even worse, he can spit a magical beam that turn anyone into stone, whose effect can only be reversed by extremely powerful healers. In spite of his demonic nature and his villainous role, Hermann is a chivalrous and cheerful person whith a rather strange sense of humour.
Six years before the beginning of the series, he and a squad of very powerful demons were ordered to destroy the village in Scotland where Negi was living. Hermann turned almost everyone into stone before being sealed into a magical bottle alongside three Slime Sisters who serves as his underlings. (It was later revealed that this attack was ordered by the Senate of Megalomesembria.)
Hermann and the Slime Sisters were freed by Fate and tasked to gather intelligence on Negi and his partners. They sneaked into Mahora Academy (the gigantic campus where Negi is teaching) and kidnapped almost all of Negi's pupils that were aware of his role as a mage, save for the most dangerous.
He used a magical necklace that expanded Asuna's magic cancelling power all around him, but Negi and Kotaro Inugami managed to defeated him. Yet Negi refused to seal him and allowed him to depart, despite knowing his role in the destruction of his village.

COSMO ENTELECHEIA'S ARMIES
Thanks to the power of the Codes of the Life-Maker, Dynamis was able to create an army of around four hundred thousand shadow-born monsters, totally impervious to the attacks of any magical creature (no matter how skilled and powerful they are) that only human beings can harm.
There is regular shadow-born monsters, super shadow-born monsters of enormous size and power, and last but not least a gigantic shadow-born demon of about twice the size of a huge palace, whose power rivals that of the mightiest divine beings. This gigantic shadowy demon was Fate's group's major asset and attacked the palace of governor Kurt Godel at the head of the entire shadowy troops. It was later locked in combat against the Divine Dragon Vrixos Nagasha, the most powerful being in the Mundus Magicus, which it destroyed. (Though it must be noted that it could defeat the dragon so easily thanks to its immunity to attacks from a magical being.) The demon was ultimately destroyed by Chachamaru, a robot-girl from the Ala Alba, thanks to her Pactio Artifact: a huge magically powered laser satellite.
